Anticonvulsants :: Klonopin Withdrawal And Difficulty Sleeping

Sep 3, 2013

I started taking klonopin in 1996, 5mg at night for fibromyalgia. My doctor said that  should get off the medication as it would effect my memory. I am 71 years old. I started withdrawing gradually about 1 1/2 years ago. In May i was down to .25 every 5 days. The doctor said that I could stop taking
the klonopin. I did. My main problem is that I have difficulty sleeping. Most night I go to bed around 10-11pm and by at about 2pm I am awake. The rest of the night i am awake or have very short restless periods of sleep. I work as a tutor and it plays havoc with my day. I take a short nap during the day (about an hour) if I can. I also have unresolved TMJ. I were a mouthguard but it provides only limited relief.

I'm 6 weeks post TKR, my extension is 0 & flexion is 148°, returning to work this week, can only sleep when I take Lorazepam at bedtime. Unable to sleep on my side yet, pillow doesn't help, having to drink Tonic water to get the cramps and spasms away at night and having to cover my scar with a telfa pad so I can cover up with a sheet. I have worked very hard and cried with every PT session, last professional PT session was 2 weeks ago,I'm doing them on my own now, twice a day.Off all medications including all over the counter meds.... What else should I expect when I return to work this week???? Would love to stop the sleep medication..

Hip Replacement :: Difficulty Sleeping 8 Weeks Post Op

Have other people had difficulty getting back into a reasonable sleep pattern after a THR? I'm now 8 weeks post op. I'm cleared to sleep on my side with a pillow between my legs to stop my operated on leg rolling forward - which it does of course when the pillow dislodges! I'm trying not to take any painkillers (paracetamol) during the day and that's fine as I have little pain moving around. But still discomfort when I don't move for any period of time - hence feeling uncomfortable at night. I do often take a couple of paracetamols at bedtime but this doesn't seem to make sleeping any better. I'm often awake in the small hours and increasingly tired during the day.

Mirtazapine :: Awful Insomnia - Difficulty Sleeping

Back to having awful insomnia again. It's 4am and i haven't been able to fall asleep at all yet. Been taking mirtazapine for almost 8 weeks now and it has been great at helping me to fall asleep, but now i have suddenly gone back to this dreadful insomnia, i feel like it's impossible for me to fall asleep. Has this happened to anyone else after a couple of months? I don't know where i can go from here now what else can i do? I don't want to go through the whole thing of changing meds again, i can't go through that again, but being able to sleep was the only thing keeping me sane and now i've got this shi**y insomnia again, it's frustrating after feeling well for a while.

Cardiovascular :: Difficulty Sleeping After Bypass Heart Surgery

had bypass heart surgery two months ago and was told that it was normal to experience some difficulty sleeping following the surgery. am noticing though that it is not getting better and i am assuming the effects of the anesthesia are no longer a possible reason for my problems. it is ridiculous really. go to bed at midnight, find myself still awake at 2 am, then go read a book or watch some show, and for some reason still awake at 5 am most days. i am now retired so there is no reason for getting up but certainly have the feeling that this routine is far from healthy. what can i do?

Chronic Fatigue Syndrome :: Sleeping And Not Sleeping Cycles With CFS/ME

I had a very restless night last night and ended up taking a sleeping tablet in desperation at around 3am... the trouble is I still have the side effects going on the next day 12 /14 hours later, I only take a sleeping pill when all else fails and I have gone well past/beyond the nodding off stage.

On other days, I just sleep a lot of the time and have a trouble staying awake. Goodness only knows what people think one minute I’m too tired the next I’m saying I can’t sleep

Does anybody have any wisdom on this issue of sleeping and not sleeping cycles with CFS/ME.

Anxiety :: Klonopin Making Me Severely Depressed

Ive been on klonopin for about ten months now and the for the last two months i've become severely depressed. I've never had depression ever. I've suffered from anxiety attacks and this stuff worked for a while but then started to seem to have negative effects. They've been unbearable. Bad thoughts and hopelessness are a cpl to name a few. I tried two tapers of it and find i can come off it. It's been a nightmare. 1st taper was a quarter of a pill 1mg. Then a few weeks later i stabilized had gotten .5s and started takin em twice a day still at a total of 1 mg and with a pill cutter was taking 6.25 percent off a pill and was having horrible nightmares to the point i was afraid to go to sleep. I dunno *** is happening to me but i feel like im losing my mind.

Substance Abuse :: Cannot Live Without The Klonopin Or A Benzo

I'm extremely scared. I signed myself into inpatient to get off from opiates and I was doing well. When they released me however, they wouldn't release me with the klonopin script that I had brought in. When I signed myself in they never told me the rule of them keeping it. So I got out and my anxiety and panic was so bad without the klonopin I didn't know why to do. Mind you I've been on benzos going on six years now. I've never abused them. I ended up going back on opiates because it eased my anxiety. I've also found some benzos to hold me over but tomorrow I'm out. I've been on the phone for three weeks now and had three appointments with my therapist about getting my script refilled. Well because I signed in to inpatient they first had to get those records. They finally did that and I thought the next week I could get my script and get back on course. Nope! Now because I'm going to intensive outpatient they have to talk to them first. Which would be fine if my therapist didn't only work two days a week and keep putting it on hold. I've went to the er as I was told to do and told them everything. They treated me like I was looking for drugs and wouldn't help me. I've made so many phone calls trying to get help that I feel I'm now out of options. No one is willing to help me now that I've tried to get help for my addiction. I'm terrified I'm going to have a seizure and god knows what else. I cannot fully live without the klonopin or a benzo. Without it I'm laying in the house. In bed or on the couch, afraid to even move as I think I will die. Nothing feels right. I feel like I'm in a dream land. I start to see things that are not there. I feel as I'm walking that the floor is moving with me. I cannot even shower as I don't feel steady. I don't know what to do anymore and I cannot find the help I need. I cannot keep living this way. If anyone has any advice please please let me know. Anything would be greatly appreciated.

General Depression :: Difficulty Doing Anything

I am 4 months into my third depression in 30 years and this time along with all the usual symptoms there is a really debilitating problem with doing anything. This is not just demotivation but it feels physical. I will try and explain each activity is made up of individual movements so making a cup of tea involves standing up, walking to the kitchen, picking up the kettle, walking to the tap, turning the tap on, etc, etc. Well, each time one movement ends I have great difficulty moving onto the next one. There appears to be a block which takes huge amounts of willpower to overcome only to be back there again after the next movement. Often I will get so far and then give up. It has got to the point when I can spend all day unable to motivate myself to do anything because things just seem so pointless and hard work. Going to work at the moment is impossible and I am off sick but I now worry about how on earth I am going to go back. I have just been forcing myself until a couple of weeks back when I just gave up and rang in sick. After the initial relief that I could rest, the guilt kicked in and what I'd hoped would be rest is now anxiety riddled. Does anyone have any idea what on earth this troublesome symptom is? It feels like there is lubrication missing in my brain as if it's seized up. It's really horrible.

Dysphagia :: Difficulty With Liquids

I am desperate and scared. I've always been a "slow swallower" but a couple of weeks ago things got much worse. I suddenly had extreme difficulty swallowing water. I was drinking a glass full and it made me feel like gagging, I had to stop and spit it out, I could not swallow. Ever since then it is extremely hard to swallow water. Oranje juice is a little easier and solids generally are okay. It is the initiation of a swallow that is hard. The water is in my mouth and I don't just automatically swallow, I have to think about i, it takes about 15 seconds to get a mouthful down. And I feel so much like gagging every time I have water in my mouth. It is worse if someone is in the room with me.

Everything I read points to something bad - ALS, brain tumors, etc. I am crying and crying I am so scared. The doctor doesn't know and won't' rule anything out until I have the swallowing evaluation (barium) and the ENT visit.

Also scaring me into thinking it is ALS is that I have had problems with my voice for several months, hoarseness, can't project, people can't hear me, I always have to repeat myself, I stumble and slur over words..

I'm scared of the swallow test, I read you have to drink 3 ounces of water as fast as you can. It makes me cry to think about that, it will take me 10 minutes.

I am so scared, can anyone give me any reassuring words? Has anyone ever had something like this happen and it wasn't serious?
