Bowel Disorder :: Large Rectocele And A Large Rectum

I have just joined this forum, but been reading it for a while. I have had no surgery yet, don't even know if it will be offered, but am already suffering from many of the problems mentioned in this thread. I have a large rectocele and a large rectum. Consultant not sure what to do- proctogram inconclusive. Since I saw the consultant a couple of weeks ago, things seem to have got dramatically worse- needing more Movicol. Also tried a suppository today.Rectal pain and numbness. The consultant may examine me under anaesthetic. I also have another problem which is complicating everything- venous insufficiency- like varicose veins- have to wear compression stockings all the time and elevate my feet as much as possible. I am convinced it was caused by straining on the loo, so from what you are all saying, there is no guarantee that surgery would prevent straining.I just don't know what to do. Surgery sounds so risky, but I can't live like this. I could try Peristeen I suppose, if they thought it suitable for me. Might also try the Milk of magnesia if I can get my hands on it.

I apparently have very large pupils. I had cataract surgery, and the first lens created unmanageable halos, starbursts and ghosting. A larger replacement IOL of 6.3MM optic diameter improved but did not remove these symptoms, and it does not stay in place. I have been told this is the largest lens available but have seen references to 'older' lenses as big as 7mm. My surgeon suggests stitching the existing lens in place. Are larger lenses available (I am in Canada) and should a larger lens be used?

I was diagnosed with a large ovarian cyst at the end of March this year (17cm), eventually being given an operation date of 26th July. Unfortunately, this had to be cancelled due to staff shortages - much to my frustration and worry. I let my doctors know of my anxiety as I felt the cyst had grown much bigger and I'd also got new strange symptoms where my legs were very swollen and painful when I walked up hills.
Anyway, a couple of weeks before my rescheduled op one of my legs really swelled up, and started to go a purple colour. Luckily I made the swift decision to go to A&E as I was concerned it could be a blood clot (you're at increased risk on the pill/pregnant and I currently looked 5 months pregnant).
I was admitted with a massive DVT - up to the top of my hip - and at risk of a pulmonary embolism. The cyst had grown so big (20 by 30cm) it was cutting off the blood flow to both my legs.
After 10 days in hospital, 4 in intensive care, I've had the cyst drained of 3 litres of fluid, a catheter inserted into the blood clot to diffuse it and now need to be on blood thinners for the next 6 months. This all could have been avoided if the operation was a bit sooner - or if I was monitored more closely. And I still need to have the actual cyst removed.
Once in hospital the nurses and doctors were wonderful - but the whole experience has been at a huge cost to both myself and the NHS. I just wanted to let people know that if you feel something is wrong, or a cyst is growing at a fast rate - demand to be seen - it would be far better for everyone if these things are prevented!

My fibroid tumor is inside my womb. The doctor could not give me an IUD because of the tumor. It makes me look about 2-3 months pregnant. I just wonder if the Depo shots that my doctor have me on stop it from growing? Can any one tell me if their fibroid grows?

A couple of hours after going to bed last night I noticed the lower part of my leg was hurting. I went back to sleep anyway, I'm a bad sleeper at the best of times, and I am almost certain I was concious of the pain during my so called sleep. Woke up again a couple of hours later, got up and decided to take a look at my leg. I have a really ugly (admittedly I am really really weak when it comes to medical things) lump on the lower part of my leg (maybe half way between my knee and ankle) that appears to be mostly yellow with a red ring around it. I had a shower just before bed last night and did not notice a thing so I am guessing it may have just sprung up last night. Any thoughts on what it could be? I have spent the past couple of hours on google and am absolutely none the wiser. Really trying to avoid a gp visit having been there multiple times this year the most recent being just Saturday after finishing a course of antibiotics during the previous week. My doctor and a family member is really not going to be impressed with seeing me there again.

Hi all, I am 30years old and recently went an ultrasound scan where they found a "large subserosal fibroid posterior into the right side of the uterine body measuring 7.9 x 8.5 cm." My gp referred me to a specialist and they could not fit me into an appointment for another two weeks. So, of course I made the appointment, but I can not wait for two weeks to know what this means! I was hoping that there might be somebody on here who has had a similar experience with a fibroid of this size and position, that could tell me what options were recommended by their specialist. Is this something which will have to be removed, and if so, is that going to be a procedure which will require bedrest and time off work, or is it a fairly simple outpatient procedure?

I had a replacement hip operation 6 months ago,and I still get pain in the leg,I have a large dent in my leg where the hip has been replaced and a large lump below it as if my muscle has slipped.I have just started with a chiropractor for help in trying to walk correctly,I have been on a stick since the op I don't feel confident without it yet,has anyone else in the group had this problem or something similar,the dent and the lump below it?

I have had right at 24 visits of Physical therapy at 6 visits of aquatic therapy and nothing seems to help at all,Last month I have been dealing with a lot of pain and when I went and seen my Neurosurgeon on 8/20 he thought I reherniated the disc again so he ordered Flexion Xray and another MRI, it showed that the was no sign of a reherniation but a week before my surgery he told me that I had a slipped or bulging disc because of the traumatic injury I had to my L4/l5, so it definitely showed that and now I have been in a Back Brace for 4 wks because my spine has shifted 1.1 millimeters and I have what they call spondylolisthesis,I just had another xray yesterday and he ordered a Nerve Conduction test cause I had already had issues neurological issues w/right leg after surgery and now with this more pain that I'm having issues now with my left leg aswell,My question is doing you think my Dr might have missed something or not......

There is a large lump on the right underside of my penile shaft, I haven't had sex and know its not a sexual disease. It appeared all of the sudden last night when I noticed it while I was in the shower. It looked like a swollen pimple almost so i proceeded to try to pop it (probably a bad idea) there is now an indention not unlike a hair follicle has been dug out. There was a decent amount of blood that came out of the surrounding area (most likely because I scratched it while trying to "pop" whatever is causing the lump. Its been a day since that and I checked on it again shortly before writing this. There is still a lot of welling in the area and I put some topical antibiotic on it (neosporin) just now to avoid it becoming infected. I would like to know if this is something I can just ride out with the proper care, or if I need to go to a doctor.

Just discovered I have both of these a couple months ago after noticing a lump in my gum. The cyst has been eating away at my jaw and has perforated it, I've had no pain, but will be getting surgery soon.
My question is what are the chances of the tooth infection contributing to my chronic fatigue? I have found a few only posts stating, infections can make you feel lousy, fatigued etc. But no real solid information or testimonials.

I've been reading some of your stories and I must say it's reassuring reading other people's experiences . I'm due to have my abdominal hysterectomy in 6 days time and i'm feeling so worried about it . I've been very tearful the last few days just thinking about the surgery . I had ulcerative colitis for many years. It was being treated with steroids. It would flare up occasionally and I would have to take extra treatment. Eventually, after about 10 years of this, I had a flare up that would not go away. I had to stop work and after about a year, I was sent to have an ileostomy. for those who don't know what this is, it is complete removal of the large bowel. I am now left with an opening in my abdominal wall. This is where the faeces exits. I have to attach a pouch to this and change it each day. It sounds drastic but it was the best thing that I had done for me. I have not looked back since then and that was exactly 10 years ago. However, I have to be fairly careful about my diet. I eat most things but I have a very high fibre diet especially when it comes to bread. Mostly I will eat only granary bread. If I have wholemeal or white, I get very loose motions. I hope this is of interest to anybody contemplating surgery.

My 14 year old son was in the hospital for 3 days and they could not figure out what was wrong with him. When I took him to ER, he had been vomiting and his diarrhea had blood in it. They did a CT scan and told me he had to have surgery because he had appendicitis. Then when referred to a surgeon he told us that it wasn't his appendix that his large intestine is swollen and therefore his appendix is swollen. In the meantime my son was in so much pain the throwing up stopped however the diarrhea with blood continued. They just started him on liquids and pain medication. Then, they collected 3 stool samples to test for colitis, and different bacteria's. Everything came out negative. Then a GI doctor checked my son and reviewed all test and told us that he had food poisoning and that he would have to let it take it's course. So, after 3 days they released my son from the hospital and told me to just give him Tylenol for the pain. To make sure he drinks plenty of liquids and he has to be on a lactose free diet for two weeks. Well my son is home and he is still in pain but the diarrhea has stopped. I left the hospital frustrated because they ran so many test and could not tell me what was wrong. They just said that he will be in pain for a couple of more days because his large intestine was swollen. Can you help me or give me some follow up advice because my son still does not look well and he still gets sudden pains that come and go. Could he have Crohn's disease?

I have a large bump on my upper, right cheekbone. It started the night before last with just a little swelling. When I woke up yesterday AM, it was almost swollen shut. Throughout the day yesterday, the swelling expanded to the entire left side of my face. I've messed with it a little so now there is a little break in the skin. I kept ice on it last night which seems to have reduced the swelling. The knot itself is not round but long.... a little longer that the size of a quarter. It hurts and is very sensitive to the touch. Over night, it's like it moved up a little bit. I can now see it out of the corner of my eye. I feel like Shrek. The knot is hard and seems much deeper than a pimple. What the heck could this be and how do I get rid of it? I'm really concerned.

For about 4-5 weeks prior there was an extremely small white bump that looked like a zit that would show up on my face in the same spot that didn't seem like much of an issue. Then suddenly about 4 days ago this huge lump was there instead of the small white thing. After doing some research it looked like it wasn't a big deal but it has stayed there for a few days now and has only gotten worse. It is very smooth and shiny with a dark spot on the top. Tender to the touch. As some background information I am 18 years old and generally masturbate once per day, but once as this showed up I haven't done anything. First of all, I want to make clear (for a better diagnosis) that I have not had sexual intercourse with anyone, which rules out the possibility of anything caused by such.
About a week ago, I suddenly found a large lump (diameter ~1.2cm, heigh ~0.8cm) that is painful to the touch. While it pains a little when pressure is applied, it is rather painful if squeezed. It does not have any particular color; marginally reddish, but that's all. I would like to know what kind of symptom this is, and if leaving it be is the best solution (so that it can slowly fade away). While I do not remember clearly, I recall that its formation was very sudden; less than 24h, I would say.

I have quite a deep cyst on my right butt cheek. It's been there for over 5 years now and I am planning on getting it removed. It has never secreted any pus as it is quite deep under the skin but when I feel around the area I can feel that it's quite wide and deep under the surface! I guess the big question is will it leave a large dent or will it sink in once the cyst is removed? I know it doesn't sound like a big deal but I really don't want a large dimple or dent there!

Just a few weeks ago I've noticed what seemed to be a large pimple forming under my groin pubic hair. over the course of about a week it grew to the size to where it was easily popped and blood and white puss came out just like a normal pimple. then it healed and i thought everything was fine, but about a week later i noticed another one forming an inch or two from the first one. After shaving it spreads more. Can you suggest me any medicine
