I have had 2 incidents (one early last week and one today) where I have felt completely fine, was on an empty stomach (before my breakfast) and suddenly got nauseous and threw up a couple times - followed by diarrhea. No pain is associated.
Within an hour or so afterwards I felt suddenly fine. Note: I am primarily vegan - have ruled out any food poisoning issues and have not gotten stomach flu 2x. (No fever or anything else)
My mother has random spells of extreme uncontrolled diarrhea and sometimes vomiting. This started a few years ago after finding out she was diabetic. Originally thought it was a medicine she was taking but she doesn't take that anymore and still the random spells of extreme uncontrollable diarrhea continues. She can go a month or so between spells but when it happens it happens and there is nothing that can be done until it's done. There HAS to be a reason. Usually her belly rumbles before a spell or she gets a case of nasty stinking burps. I hope I've provided enough details to allow of an answer. I'm aware the answer may or may not be accurate. I'm ready for any and all possibilities. The doctor she's seen before said "oh it just happens". Thanks for your time.
View 1 RepliesFor the past 10 years I have had severe digestive issues. If I eat more than twice a day I will spend the majority of my day in the bathroom so I avoid eating especially during work hours. I also have a hard time drinking a lot of fluids and if I drink too much I end up vomiting? I have heartburn almost daily and ironically water seems to make it burn more than most beverages so I really don't drink near as much as I know I should. I have had several upper and lower scopes, colonoscopies, breath test and worked with nutritionist and they all are baffled and tell me nothing is medically wrong with me? I recently feel like im constantly on the verge of getting charlie horses in my legs, have random blurriness in my eyes and I'm just tired. I am broke out of my mind and quite frankly feel hopeless because even if they did find something I can't afford to treat it? I'm frustrated, scared and exhausted. I have no idea what is left that I can do?

View 1 RepliesThroughout the past weekend I had begun getting abdominal cramps & becoming rather gassy. Yet, I thought nothing of the cramps, believing they just had something to do with my period then. On Saturday night, I had woken up with diarrhea accident & went to the bathroom only to have more yellow very watery stool. I tried to go back to bed, but it just happened again & worse. Sunday I slept in all day, and by the evening I had lost much of my appetite and ate just fruits,yogurt, cheese hotdogs & water. Monday I was relatively fine, I was more sluggish & tired than usual and didn't have an appetite. That whole day I only ate string cheese, salami pieces, butter on toast & ribs. I also drank a bit of milk. I realized that this milk was expired by a day only after I drunken it. I drank allot of milk on Saturday so that may be the issue. Thus, I drank a few glasses of another (non expired) milk carton. While I thought it was gone, it proved me wrong. Last night the same thing happen, yet not as bad.
Could this be due to the expired milk? Could I be lactose intolerant?
For the past month I've experienced stomach problems. It started with diarrhea and severe cramps that caused bleeding(I'm assuming hemorrhoids). So I went to the hospital and they said they think it's diverticulitis but never got back to me but sent me home with antibiotics. Its been a few weeks and the pain is awful and it is effecting my life and work. It happens whenever I eat or lift things. I can't sleep right now because the pain. Luckily I only have diarrhea sometimes now but still I feel weak and the stomach pain is too much.
View 1 RepliesFor a bit over 3 weeks, I have had diarrhea. I was having 15-20 movements a day for the first week, but now it's closer to 6-10. There has been white and yellow mucus in the stools regularly, and they have varied a bit in consistency, but mostly have been watery. It smells very bad, and just a few days ago, lots of black flakes have been appearing in the stools; they look like coarse pepper grindings. I haven't had a fever, and just this morning started to develop some pain in the front right of my abdomen.
I've been tested for salmonella, c. diff, and likely a few other things via stool samples, and everything has come back negative. I also had a CAT scan which showed some inflammation in my colon, but everything else looked okay. Just this morning, I had a movement that was entirely mucus and black flakes which smelled like rotten eggs and burned quite bad coming out, and it freaked me out a bit. It might take a few days to set up the appointment for a colonoscopy, I'm wondering what is the possible prognosis, and at what point I would need to go to the ER.
I am 32, and have always been in good health. I stay active, and have no family history of cancer or digestive issues.
Little background info, I'm 18 and female and I never usually get headaches, but yesterday morning I woke up with a slight one, the type you usually get when you oversleep. Throughout the day it got a lot worse, to the point where my eyes were watering due to the pain, I could barely stand and barely move and of course had no paracetamol in the house so I had to endure the horrendous pain before my mum was able to get some when she got back from work. It's now day two and the headache is just as bad, the nausea and dizziness comes and goes in random spells but the headache is persistent. Pain relief dulls but doesn't get rid of the pain.
I haven't had any injury or knock to the head, no ear infection (to cause the dizziness) and the only things that really changed is my sleeping pattern (I usually sleep for around 5/6 hours a day due to insomnia but yesterday I got a full 10 hours sleep only waking up around 3 times during the night which is normal for me).
This usually happens randomly, when I'm sitting down or standing/walking. I get this dull pain in my head and my vision will go black for about 5 to 10 seconds. Along with that I feel dizzy. One time it lasted for about 20 seconds and I couldn't walk until I got my vision back. Not only that but sometimes I'll feel the same dull pain on either side of my head, near my temples, but my vision does not go black.
View 1 RepliesI am what my doctor describes as a perfectly healthy 32 year female. I have a hiatal hernia but that may be beside the point. I had been on Paxil 20 up until September. At the end of October, I began feeling nauseous after eating and vomiting after eating supper. I do not feel better after vomiting and find it almost impossible the eat for 24 hours following. I feel incredibly exhausted after 3pm, and when I feel ill it's at or around 5pm. My blood tests are perfect, not pregnant, and up to this point generally healthy. I am looking for ideas, other experiences, and general info to find out and 'fix' what is all of a sudden wrong with me!

View 2 RepliesWoke up today feeling extremely bad. Had bad diarrhea, and was vomiting every liquid I was taking in - I don't know if I specifically had/have the "flu," but the symptoms of diarrhea, vomiting, muscle weakness/aching, etc. seems to point to that conclusion. My reflux issues most likely worsened the ability to keep liquid down, and, as a result, I almost passed out from dehydration. Luckily, I am with my family, and am starting to take liquids down. I have good health insurance, should I need to visit the hospital if things get really bad.
I'm wondering if I should take any special considerations, or what other things you guys might suggest, as this has been pretty brutal on me today.
i'm 18 years old and on the first day of my period i have a terrible cramping, if i don't take nimesulide 100 mg when i feel the first signs (usual painkillers like paracetamol or ibuprofen don't do anything, even in high dosage) then then i get diarrhea and even vomit, and the pain seems almost unbearable. I'm a virgin, if it has any importance. Is there a way to stop this, or will i have to take nimesulide every month? (By the way is that safe to use it that frequently?) Even if i take it, it takes 1-2 hours to have an effect, if i don't take it early enough, then even more.

View 1 RepliesMy husband has been taking 5mg Percocet (3-4 daily) for about a year and a half for chronic back pain. He has never abused them. He is tired of taking them and decided to wean himself. He bought an inversion table and wanted to try a more holistic approach to helping his back pain. He started taking 2 percocets on Sunday, then dropped down to 1 on Monday morning. About 4 hours after taking his pill on Monday, he started vomiting. He also had hot flashes, body aches and intense nausea. He feels like he has the stomach flu. He threw up about ten times on Monday. By Monday night the vomiting had stopped but he started with diarrhea. The diarrhea lasted through the entire day/night on Tuesday. He felt a little better by Tuesday night, but again this morning (Wednesday) he began vomiting again. He isn't sure if this is opiate withdrawal or the stomach flu. He has also been under a lot of stress at work and thinks this is a combination of the stomach bug and stress, but I am afraid it's opiate withdrawal. Has anyone been through this? Does it sound like a stomach bug or opiate withdrawal? Any tips on how to ease his discomfort?

View 1 RepliesI'm experiencing some pretty intense abdominal pain and cramping. It began on Sunday, I woke up to these intense cramps (which I can only compare to what I assume contractions feel like), they are bad enough to make me stop whatever I'm doing and have to keel over. They last maybe 30 seconds and they go away. Yesterday, I woke up with the cold sweats, I was clammy, a fever, body aches, still had those cramps, I had pretty bad diarrhea, although I felt like I wasn't...getting it all out. I also don't have much of an appetite.
Is it possible to have diarrhea and constipation at the same time? It's also worth mentioning that a few weeks ago, I decided to continue taking my birth control rather than stopping for the week to get my period, so that I would not have it on a trip I was going on. Could that affect my body this way?
Today I'm feeling a little better, still getting the cramps, I'm trying to drink as much water as possible. I still have diarrhea every time I go to the bathroom, but still I get the sensation that I'm not getting everything out of there. I'm not as clammy and sweaty as yesterday, but I still am a little bit. No body aches though.
