I have been experiencing nausea, diarrhea, gas, burping for the past few days and cant get into my doctor is this a reason to go to the er? also a sensation down towards my genital, not painful i can just feel it.
View 1 RepliesFor the past 10 years I have had severe digestive issues. If I eat more than twice a day I will spend the majority of my day in the bathroom so I avoid eating especially during work hours. I also have a hard time drinking a lot of fluids and if I drink too much I end up vomiting? I have heartburn almost daily and ironically water seems to make it burn more than most beverages so I really don't drink near as much as I know I should. I have had several upper and lower scopes, colonoscopies, breath test and worked with nutritionist and they all are baffled and tell me nothing is medically wrong with me? I recently feel like im constantly on the verge of getting charlie horses in my legs, have random blurriness in my eyes and I'm just tired. I am broke out of my mind and quite frankly feel hopeless because even if they did find something I can't afford to treat it? I'm frustrated, scared and exhausted. I have no idea what is left that I can do?
View 1 RepliesI have had 2 incidents (one early last week and one today) where I have felt completely fine, was on an empty stomach (before my breakfast) and suddenly got nauseous and threw up a couple times - followed by diarrhea. No pain is associated.
Within an hour or so afterwards I felt suddenly fine. Note: I am primarily vegan - have ruled out any food poisoning issues and have not gotten stomach flu 2x. (No fever or anything else)
Throughout the past weekend I had begun getting abdominal cramps & becoming rather gassy. Yet, I thought nothing of the cramps, believing they just had something to do with my period then. On Saturday night, I had woken up with diarrhea accident & went to the bathroom only to have more yellow very watery stool. I tried to go back to bed, but it just happened again & worse. Sunday I slept in all day, and by the evening I had lost much of my appetite and ate just fruits,yogurt, cheese hotdogs & water. Monday I was relatively fine, I was more sluggish & tired than usual and didn't have an appetite. That whole day I only ate string cheese, salami pieces, butter on toast & ribs. I also drank a bit of milk. I realized that this milk was expired by a day only after I drunken it. I drank allot of milk on Saturday so that may be the issue. Thus, I drank a few glasses of another (non expired) milk carton. While I thought it was gone, it proved me wrong. Last night the same thing happen, yet not as bad.
Could this be due to the expired milk? Could I be lactose intolerant?
For the past month I've experienced stomach problems. It started with diarrhea and severe cramps that caused bleeding(I'm assuming hemorrhoids). So I went to the hospital and they said they think it's diverticulitis but never got back to me but sent me home with antibiotics. Its been a few weeks and the pain is awful and it is effecting my life and work. It happens whenever I eat or lift things. I can't sleep right now because the pain. Luckily I only have diarrhea sometimes now but still I feel weak and the stomach pain is too much.

View 1 RepliesMy mother has random spells of extreme uncontrolled diarrhea and sometimes vomiting. This started a few years ago after finding out she was diabetic. Originally thought it was a medicine she was taking but she doesn't take that anymore and still the random spells of extreme uncontrollable diarrhea continues. She can go a month or so between spells but when it happens it happens and there is nothing that can be done until it's done. There HAS to be a reason. Usually her belly rumbles before a spell or she gets a case of nasty stinking burps. I hope I've provided enough details to allow of an answer. I'm aware the answer may or may not be accurate. I'm ready for any and all possibilities. The doctor she's seen before said "oh it just happens". Thanks for your time.
View 1 RepliesFor a bit over 3 weeks, I have had diarrhea. I was having 15-20 movements a day for the first week, but now it's closer to 6-10. There has been white and yellow mucus in the stools regularly, and they have varied a bit in consistency, but mostly have been watery. It smells very bad, and just a few days ago, lots of black flakes have been appearing in the stools; they look like coarse pepper grindings. I haven't had a fever, and just this morning started to develop some pain in the front right of my abdomen.
I've been tested for salmonella, c. diff, and likely a few other things via stool samples, and everything has come back negative. I also had a CAT scan which showed some inflammation in my colon, but everything else looked okay. Just this morning, I had a movement that was entirely mucus and black flakes which smelled like rotten eggs and burned quite bad coming out, and it freaked me out a bit. It might take a few days to set up the appointment for a colonoscopy, I'm wondering what is the possible prognosis, and at what point I would need to go to the ER.
I am 32, and have always been in good health. I stay active, and have no family history of cancer or digestive issues.
Constant for the past 3 months and doctor thought it was just heartburn but medicine isn't working. Cramps are through my whole stomach. I'm only 12.
View 1 RepliesMy husband has been suffering from lower left pain and tenderness in his abdominal area. He also has loose stool and a lot of the time feels like he needs to go, but can't. Cramping included. He randomly feels nauseous. His pain is also cause with eating, so he avoids eating big portions. He does eat yogurt, one cup a night. It sometimes helps. He has had a colonoscopy done and it was clean. Heartburn is also included, he takes rolaids every night. I just wish I could help him. I hate seeing him in pain! What is wrong with him?
View 1 RepliesWhen I feel vomit coming up I run to the toilet/bucket and it feels like vomit is coming up I get watery mouth and try to steady my breathing ready for vomit and then I burp like I burp at least 2-4 times (long slow weird sounding burps) before vomit actually comes up, it's almost like the burp is replacing a "gag" but I still do gag As Well and after I vomit I'll burp more and vomit more the most I've burped in one go before throwing up/in between vomits was tonight and I burped at least 7 long slow weird almost frog sounding burps before actually vomiting what does this weird burping while throwing up mean?
View 1 RepliesIt seems I have come to an impasse with my metformin. Can't do it any more! My system can't seem to handle 1000 mg a day. I have have nausea and diarrhea. I've even taken generic forms and it appears that I'm allergic to them. My doctor has suggested going to insulin at this time but it will be a couple of weeks before I do. In the meantime, I'm a bit nervous about this whole situation. Has anyone had problems with taking metformin and then switched to insulin? I understand there are different kinds of insulin. How do I know what kind I need?
View 1 RepliesI have diarrhea/nausea/dry heaves/stomach cramps/sudden urge to have a bowel movement and dizziness almost everyday of my life. Sometimes these symptoms are accompanied by a headache. I also have horrible indigestion and I'm a former alcoholic, I'm wondering if any of these symptoms could have been worsened by alcohol. I just feel like crap, consistently. I don't know what to do because everything I try seems to be ineffective. I can hardly drink water because of my stomach being upset and I have had no appetite for a few good weeks now. I'm also always tired. The severity of my symptoms come and go but always seem to be present.
I've considered that maybe I have IBS or Crohn's disease but I'm unsure due to some of my other symptoms.

View 1 RepliesI have just been told I have gerd after getting an endoscopy. My symptoms were abdominal pain, nausea and diarrhea all after eating (within 20 minutes). Over the years I would get an episode of this after a meal once every two months. But as of two months ago I get it after every meal. My doctor put me on dexilant and now just switched me to Prilosec because of my insurance . When I first took dexilant I had bad diarrhea for a day, now that I am one day on Prilosec I am having bad diarrhea and nausea again. Could this be because of the switch? Also has anyone experience nausea and diarrhea with gerd? I don't get heartburn. Maybe once in a while. Also does anyone's gerd get bad and cause diarrhea when anxious or in uncomfortable situations that make you uneasy?
View 1 RepliesI'm experiencing some pretty intense abdominal pain and cramping. It began on Sunday, I woke up to these intense cramps (which I can only compare to what I assume contractions feel like), they are bad enough to make me stop whatever I'm doing and have to keel over. They last maybe 30 seconds and they go away. Yesterday, I woke up with the cold sweats, I was clammy, a fever, body aches, still had those cramps, I had pretty bad diarrhea, although I felt like I wasn't...getting it all out. I also don't have much of an appetite.
Is it possible to have diarrhea and constipation at the same time? It's also worth mentioning that a few weeks ago, I decided to continue taking my birth control rather than stopping for the week to get my period, so that I would not have it on a trip I was going on. Could that affect my body this way?
Today I'm feeling a little better, still getting the cramps, I'm trying to drink as much water as possible. I still have diarrhea every time I go to the bathroom, but still I get the sensation that I'm not getting everything out of there. I'm not as clammy and sweaty as yesterday, but I still am a little bit. No body aches though.
I have had IBS for 20 years, and have been treating it with fiber therapy pretty successfully. In the last few months, i've had some odd bowel movements. the first one i noticed was long and thin and tough, like an elastic. i thought tapeworm, but my stool tested negative for worms. i can't explain it, but after wiping and checking it flings itself off the toilet paper a fair distance. I'm afraid to ask my doctor because he scoffed at me when i told him that i thought i had worms. i had a colonoscopy for my 50th birthday in august and everything checked out. Any idea as to what's happening?
View 1 RepliesI'm 20 years old and a couple of weeks after moving to France, I started having problems with my bowel. It got worse until I started having diarrhea and with the exception of two days, I now wake up each morning needing to go. I went to a doctor last week and they gave me some medication for slowing my bowel movements and firming up everything. It worked on the fourth day but now I've stopped using the medication and it's started up again. I was on a bus home last night and I was actually incontinent I'm fine for the most of the day but sometimes it's just debilitating. I've been looking online and it seems that I'm a match for IBS. Can anyone help?
View 3 RepliesI don't know what's going on with me. I keep going to the doctor and all they say is that i'm suffering from a stomach bug, but it just doesn't seem to be that simple. My symptoms are;
Nausea, headache, fatigue, dizziness, loss of appetite, diarrhea, weight loss and lower abdominal cramps, similar to menstrual cramps and I'm not on my period. Recently I've started experiencing shortness of breath as well. What could it possibly be?
I began to develop abdominal pain following a course of antibiotics prescribed for an overactive gland back in October last year. Since then my condition has worsened to the point where I experience lower abdominal pain on a daily basis. Often the pain can be present all day and I can find no way to relieve it. The only other symptom I have is occasional bloating, but no constipation or diarrhoea (always been regular and that hasn't changed). My health in general is very good and I exercise regularly (swimming and running).
At first I was prescribed Mebeverine but I found it had very little effect. I have had numerous blood tests, a urine test, and also an ultrasound, all of which were clear.
Around 8 weeks ago I was referred to a specialist gastroenterologist and my appointment is in 3 weeks from now. 2 weeks ago I visited my GP again because I was experiencing an unusually degree of pain. She said she would expedite my appointment with the specialist, however this is something she has been unable to fulfil, in part due to bad communication between them and the gastroenterology department and also due to the fact the specialist only works two days a week.
At this point I haven't been diagnosed as having anything specific, and If I'm honest I kind of feel like I've been hung out to dry by my GP whose answer on most occasions has been to wait and see, which suggests they aren't taking it very seriously.
My question really is, is it possible to suffer from IBS but only experience abdominal pain and bloating?
