Anxiety :: Difficult To Breathe

I particularly find it difficult to breath. I feel my chest is being crushed & I have to try to yawn to 'catch' my breath. If I can 'catch' my breath it feels immediately better...for five minutes, but, if I can't, it can go on indefinitely & I get panicky about it. This has happened since I was seventeen & Drs couldn't find anything wrong.

This always happens as I try to go to sleep & annoys my husband so much, which panics me still more.

I find that it happens when I am not absorbed in doing anything, i.e. watching tv, sitting here on the computer, driving, trying to sleep! I don't really sleep at all, my dreams are dark & fitful so I awake to watching the clock tick by all night. Yet I could sleep all day.

I have tried many different types of prescribed anti depressant, to no avail though. Does anyone have any suggestions? I want to look for a different job, but am scared from going 'from frying pan to fire'. I think I need something else in my life, but I'm frightened of doing it wrong & feeling much worse. HELP!

I don't have good concentration, (perhaps due to exhaustion)? I am very forgetful. I suffer hot sweats too.

COPD :: Breathe Easy Groups Experience - Anyone?

Have any experience of a Breath Easy group.  I believe they are run by The British Lung Foundation.  There does appear to be a local group for us.  My husband who has just been diagnosed with COPD is not keen on this sort of thing but I thought I might give it a go.  Does anyone know what goes on at these groups.

Sleep Disorders :: Forget To Breathe Just As I'm Falling Asleep

I'm curious if anyone else experiences this. Just as I cross the line from being awake to falling asleep, it seems like my body just forgets to breathe. I jolt myself awake and just get right back to sleeping. I don't notice it every night but sometimes it happens a few times before I'm fully asleep.

I'm otherwise a healthy 32 year old male. I go to the gym multiple times a week and don't have any other major health issues other than occasional teeth-grinding at night. I don't snore heavily and I typically wake up rested when I do get to sleep early enough.

Citalopram :: 20mg To 40mg Citalopram?

I have had a really tough year, and was prescribed citalopram 12 weeks ago, started on 10mg for 2 weeks then 20mg ever since. I haven't been feeling any better, I have been going through a break up so its hard to know what's heartbreak and what's depression but the only thing that's seemed to be improving is anxiety which was taking over my life.

I still wake up most days not wanting to move, feeling hopeless and like I don't want to be here (I wouldn't physically hurt myself) and non stop crying and fear of the future and low self esteem. I used to be so confident and outgoing and happy, my world has crashed in the last year and recently I spoke to my doctor who has raised the dose to 40mg which I have now been taking for 3 days. I feel absolutely worse and again not sure if it's circumstantial. I feel embarrassed In Front of my friends and family as one minute I'll be crying and struggling to breath having a panic attack and the next I'll be laughing and smiling. Has anyone else suffered in the same way? I am hoping that this dosage is what I need but I'm just having teething problems. Right now though I feel very scared and worried it's not going to do the trick if I feel like this.

GERD (acid Reflux) :: Can't Breathe, Chest Pain And Heart Flutters / Tightness

Just to put it bluntly I am 35 years old and honestly I feel like I am 95 and just waiting to take my last breath. This is so crazy that a disease such as acid reflux can make you feel this way. My symptoms to name a few, I can't breathe, I have chest pain, I have the heart palps, I have the heart flutters, I have the chest tightness. The first thing I think of is THIS HAS GOT TO BE MY HEART! But no its the thing called gerd! I quit drinking, I quit smoking, I quit all of the stuff that I loved, and it is still here.

General Depression :: Difficulty Doing Anything

I am 4 months into my third depression in 30 years and this time along with all the usual symptoms there is a really debilitating problem with doing anything. This is not just demotivation but it feels physical. I will try and explain each activity is made up of individual movements so making a cup of tea involves standing up, walking to the kitchen, picking up the kettle, walking to the tap, turning the tap on, etc, etc. Well, each time one movement ends I have great difficulty moving onto the next one. There appears to be a block which takes huge amounts of willpower to overcome only to be back there again after the next movement. Often I will get so far and then give up. It has got to the point when I can spend all day unable to motivate myself to do anything because things just seem so pointless and hard work. Going to work at the moment is impossible and I am off sick but I now worry about how on earth I am going to go back. I have just been forcing myself until a couple of weeks back when I just gave up and rang in sick. After the initial relief that I could rest, the guilt kicked in and what I'd hoped would be rest is now anxiety riddled. Does anyone have any idea what on earth this troublesome symptom is? It feels like there is lubrication missing in my brain as if it's seized up. It's really horrible.

Dysphagia :: Difficulty With Liquids

I am desperate and scared. I've always been a "slow swallower" but a couple of weeks ago things got much worse. I suddenly had extreme difficulty swallowing water. I was drinking a glass full and it made me feel like gagging, I had to stop and spit it out, I could not swallow. Ever since then it is extremely hard to swallow water. Oranje juice is a little easier and solids generally are okay. It is the initiation of a swallow that is hard. The water is in my mouth and I don't just automatically swallow, I have to think about i, it takes about 15 seconds to get a mouthful down. And I feel so much like gagging every time I have water in my mouth. It is worse if someone is in the room with me.

Everything I read points to something bad - ALS, brain tumors, etc. I am crying and crying I am so scared. The doctor doesn't know and won't' rule anything out until I have the swallowing evaluation (barium) and the ENT visit.

Also scaring me into thinking it is ALS is that I have had problems with my voice for several months, hoarseness, can't project, people can't hear me, I always have to repeat myself, I stumble and slur over words..

I'm scared of the swallow test, I read you have to drink 3 ounces of water as fast as you can. It makes me cry to think about that, it will take me 10 minutes.

I am so scared, can anyone give me any reassuring words? Has anyone ever had something like this happen and it wasn't serious?

Sleep :: Difficulty Waking Up

All my life I have struggled with waking up in the morning. I am female, aged 71, and can remember this problem going right back to my childhood. I think I may have something called Delayed Sleep Phase Syndrome. It doesn't matter what time I go to bed, I find it almost impossible to fall asleep before about 1 am, but the problem in the morning is even worse. I don't think I've ever woken naturally and feeling awake and alert. I am drowsy and dopey and half asleep and if I don't have to get to a job or a meeting I can easily fall back asleep for another 2 hours. It takes three different alarms to wake me up, and most mornings I just feel sick and awful. Do other people have this problem and how do they cope?

Movement Disorders :: Difficulty In Writing A V R And D

Recently when I find it difficult to begin certain letters, such as 'a', 'v', 'r' and 'd', when I am writing. I am studying Physics, and so write a lot of maths. I have never previously had any trouble writing letters, and consider myself to have neat handwriting. I have tried different pens, pencils e.t.c, and worry this might have some link with Parkinson’s disease, which runs in my Dad's side of the family. I am a male aged 18.

She was admitted to hospital with a view that she might have had a heart attack. They put a camera up her femoral artery but her heart was clear, no problems.

her blood pressure was 90 over 45. we stopped her taking the Ramipril and all her symptoms disappeared. It was as if the tablets were producing the palpitations and the chest pains which she was taking more and more tablets for.
