I have a 2015 Avalon Limited. The BSM works fine during the day, but at night, if I raise the rear sunscreen to block headlights behind me, the driver's side BSM does not recognize cars in the blind spot. If the screen is lowered, everything is fine.
View 5 RepliesI am curious; is it NOT suppose to beep when BSM has detected a car and you try to put blinker on? Mine just blinks the icon on the mirror, which is not nearly as noticeable as a audible sound. Also, what about the backup camera? Obviously, this car has sensors... but why don't the beep?
View 12 RepliesReally like the Blind Spot Monitor system in the car. The visual part of with the mirrors works great but the volume part in the car is too low especially with radio on. I'm told by Dealership Service that it cannot be adjusted. I find this hard to believe especially seeing this is an all electronic system. There's got to be a way to have a volume control or menu control on it????

On 5 or 6 occasions, during the 8 weeks I have owned it, a yellow warning light has appeared, together with a message on the Multifunction Display stating: "Check Blind Spot Monitoring System." While this is displayed, the BSM does not work. Turning the ignition off and then on again resolved the problem immediately each time, with one exception, when I had to do it twice. Pushing the On-Off button for the BSM on the left side of the dash did not resolve the problem.
At a stoplight earlier today, my ICE was running though I thought it should have shut down. I checked the engine monitor display on the dash, and it didn't indicate that the ICE was on, even though it very obviously was. The same thing happened a bit later. My worries are: 1) there was clearly an error in what the dash display was showing, since the engine was on and it indicated that it wasn't, and 2) maybe the engine really should have shut down, but for some reason it didn't .

View 11 RepliesI have a '98 For Ranger. After 256,000 miles, I recently had a new (rebuilt) motor put in my truck. After about 2 days of driving with the new engine, the Check Engine light came on. I went to Auto Zone and had the codes checked, and these two codes came up:
"Misfire monitor malfunction"
"Oxygen circuit slow response bank 2 sensor 1"
The guy at Auto Zone couldn't tell me what they meant. Is this something serious that needs to be checked out immediately or have anything to do with the new motor that was put in?
I purchased a new 2012 Avalon at the end of 2012. It currently has 2500 miles on it. I been noticing that I seem to have inadequate forward illumination of roadway at night with the low beams on. There have been times when I won't see people in the a cross walk until I am right on top of them. It's making me very nervous about driving at night in the city. Is this a common problem with Avalons? Was wondering if there is an adjust that I can make or should I bring it to the dealer to do it?

View 5 RepliesHappen a few times already. My RCF had problem starting at night only after parking for a couple of hours. During the day the car start fine and never once have starting issue. The problem is when I press the start button the car will try to start then die immediately. Second and third push will be required before the car would start. Is this a problem with fuel pump? I don't hear any noise issue from the fuel pump that others have reported. I notice that this starting problem only happen at a particular hotel that I play tennis at after work. The hotel is at sea level our day time temp is mid to high 80's. At night it is low 80's. Our humidity is quite high at 80%+.. Going to have the car checked on next service.
View 6 RepliesHaving trouble with the auto dimming mechanism of the rear view mirror? Mine seldom dims when driving at night when other cars are behind me hitting the mirror with their headlights.
I tested it by shining a small flashlight on the sensor and it responds as expected, but it just doesn't work in the real world. I don't think my expectations are too high as my wife's Camry mirror works great, just not my Avalon...
Of course the dealer said it was operating correctly after shining a light on it in the shop, but wasn't interested in doing a road test.
The left side (driver's mirror) indicates and beeps if a car is in the blind spot however, the right mirror works sometimes and then does not. Also, it will "alert" once in a while and sporadically.
First, where are the sensors? Could I unplug for five minutes and let them reset? Second, this almost sounds like a software glitch?
2014 2.4L Nav/tech package.
Had codes come up for ignition Coils twice. Car shook for all the way home. Replaced that coil 2. Second time shook for just a little bit. Codes for coil 2 snd 4. replaced all the Rear ones and the one front one that thru other code and all spark plugs. 2 weeks later I get Engine control malfunction, multiple misfires? Wife said happened when driving and didn't feel anything. Ignition control box bad?

View 5 RepliesThis '15 Avalon I bought recently tries to do too many things automatically that bothers me. I've managed to turn off some of them, but still have the AC/Heater issue of turning itself on every time I use the car.
When I notice it's on - I'll turn it off - and yet awhile later I'll notice it's on again.
How to turn that automatic feature off?
2006 Lexus GS300 AWD, My driver side low beam HID turns off at night while driving. Both lights come on, then after driving for about a few mins, the driver side low beam hid will go out. Then, if I quickly turn the lights off, and back on, it comes back on and stays on for another few mins. Repeat. Sometimes it will eventually stay on for the rest of the trip.
View 5 RepliesThe 2005 Avalon has 48K miles and it's been running well without any issues, until today.
Driving in city traffic, max speed is about 30 ml/h, The "Check Engine" light and the "VSC (Vehicle Slip Control) Off" lights came on. I did stop the engine, restarted after couple of minutes and the same lights stayed on. The car ran just fine, no noticeable difference in performance.
With the OBDCOM reader, the Avalon has this code:
P0351 232
P0351 Ignition coil A primary/secondary circuit malfunction
That seems to indicate a malfunction for cylinder A, or #1, ignition coil that has nothing to do with the "VSC" AFAIK. Is this a misread by OBDCOM reader, or the Avalon is confused?
The code had been reset via the OBDCOM reader, the car runs fine, neither of the lights come on now. Should I do something about coil A, or just wait until the code comes back?
I use Bluetooth to listen to music on my mobile......lately i have seen a issue while using google maps and music together....the audio sound of music sometimes goes completely low when both are being used, even if the maps has no audio output.......But sometimes the music output is loud as it supposed to be and only when there is audio output from maps the music shuts off and but goes back to high volume as expected....
View 6 RepliesSmall coolant leak on drivers side when car sits over night. Car has 3.5L engine with 118000 miles. Purchased used a few months ago. Just started leaking a week or so ago. Dash came on with low coolant level. Added a small amount of coolant ( at the add coolant level line) and then started noticing small amounts of coolant under car in the mornings.
