Wheel bearing replacement. I think my drivers side is shot. Making clucking and squealing noises if driven around town. Doesn't sound bad on the highway.
View 49 RepliesSo at cold start, my my car squeals but once I drive for a mile, it goes away. I think it is the belt. How can I test it to see.
As well, seems like it runs a little rough right now when I am sitting idle at a stop light. Could the belt be causing this?
Since the weather got colder I've been getting really loud, squealing belt noises. They happen mostly when I turn on the car. They sound like when I had an old Altima and turned on the A/C the belt would squeal. But the sound happens even with no air turned on or defogger turned on. And it happens sometimes when I make a really sharp turn around when I first start the car. After it's warmed up I generally don't hear it. Also, sometimes having my foot on the brake will change how long the sound lasts for. I'd like to know what belt this would be and if just WD-40 should be used for now (or some type of belt dressing) OR if it's detrimental not to get work done on it. Also let me know if I'm able to tighten it myself or if that's better left. I replaced a valve cover gasket a few months ago so that's about the extent of my abilities at this point.

I heard some noise when the steering is hard. The noise sounds like squealing or scratching metals. What will be the problem? Is it the EPS system or just the serpentine belt slipping on the alternator?
BTW, the mileage is about 137700.
A friend of mine has a 2007 Accent with some scary MDPS issues. Basically it randomly freezes the steering wheel without a warning making it extremely hard to drive. He went to the dealership and since the car is without warranty they'll charge him 1200$ for repair. Is there any recall on these models for this MDPS?
View 7 RepliesI have a 2007 Hyundai Accent automatic. For the past few months, every time I start up my car it makes a horrible squealing sound. This sound also occurs when I'm backing out of my parking space and when I do turns. A few times when I'm doing turns the steering seems to lock up a bit and it gets really difficult to steer. I had numerous people check under the hood and they say that the pulley is seizing every time I turn the steering wheel left or right while it's making that squealing noise. I have had all three belts replaced and a new alternator installed last year. The belts have been checked numerous times since they been replaced. The power steering fluid has been a changed as well. Do I need a new steering pump? Or is the problem something else.
View 7 RepliesA week ago I started getting a quick clicking sound from my front end, it speeds up when I accelerate, but it goes away after driving for ~1-2 minutes. Also I get squealing on the front end whenever I start up. Usually neither happen if I just stop for a minute and start driving again, it's just the first drive of the day when it happens usually. I'm guessing a belt but really not sure..
View 13 RepliesIt's cold and raining quite hard out and I just took my car out to the store and when I pulled into the parking spot a very loud squealing noise began coming from under the hood (sounded like driver side). I turned the car off and restarted and it was still there. I turned it off again and started it and it was gone. I drove the car home without issue and restarted a couple of times with no noise. The car ran great otherwise. What that was? I know very little about cars. It scared the crap out of me--it sounded quite loud--more of a screeching sound.

Whenever it gets driven through a puddle (big, small, paddling pool, etc.) it will make this high pitch squealing noise, and then when it gets shut off after driving through said puddle, will have trouble starting. (It will turn over, catch, run for .2 seconds & then the engine will cut out, but all the electronics will work) THEN! if you can get it started, it needs to be reeved constantly or it will stall when it idles. Lastly, if the conditions are ridiculously horrible, & you need to go some place, you have to '2 foot drive' the little beauty to whereever you're going. Now, she's been in to see the Ford mechanics and has 'stumped' them.
View 4 RepliesI have a 06 accent sedan and I have been having some issues with the back brakes that were just replaced prior to the motor vehicle being done the end of June. I had the brakes replaced and everything was working fine up until the middle of last week; now the brakes in the back are squealing like the warning plates are rubbing together again (loud high pitch squealing) what could be causing this...I took it back to where I had the brakes replaced and they did a check and said that it did not look like anything was wrong and they asked me when my front brakes were replaced, I told him they were replaced last August when I have a issues with a caliper freezing up and had to replace everything in the front (brakes, caliper etc). So long story short he said to keep driving and see if you can tell if the squealing is coming from the front or the back and come back when its happening or if you can determine which one it is..
View 13 RepliesSo I just got a bunch of work done on my car: the timing belt, spark plugs, serpentine belt and water pump were just replaced. I had the oil changed, the fluids changed, new front tires, and an alignment all about a month ago, but now every time i turn my car on there is a squealing noise coming from my engine (i assume a belt). Then when i get to higher speeds the entire car shakes, but more so on the drivers side. I have also noticed my brakes just starting to squeal as well, but the shaking was occurring before that. What it might be?

My 2013 Hyundai Sonata SE has been making squealing noises when braking. However, this has gone away after a while. I read that squealing means it's time to change the brake pads. However, I don't hear the noise anymore. What happened?
Also I would like to know when to replace brake calipers, pads or rotors? I'm pretty sure the Hyundai service center is going to tell me some BS and charge me for extra things.
My 1997 Town Car has had the sound from the dash related to the blend door actuator in other posts. Noise would last for 5 - 10 minutes and go away. Today I noticed when driving I was getting a wild fluctuation in heat when set to automatic on the climate control so I decided to run the diagnostic to verify the blend door problem. I got code 024 so I know it is the actuator. My problem since I ran the diagnostic(exited by pushing defrost) the actuator noise is now constant and I have no heat, only cool air is blowing. Is there a reset I can do for the actuator? It's as if it is stuck in test mode.
View 8 RepliesWhen I go to unlock my doors on 2006 TC I push the switch and all locks come up, however, the rear doors are not unlocking all the way. The only way I can get the doors to unlock is to pull up on the knob as I push the switch at the same time and the doors will unlock and become funtional. Where is the problem?
View 1 RepliesI've brought it to the dealer and mechanically, they can find nothing wrong with it. Their hunch is the hood deflector/bug deflector at the front of the car.
It just sounds really embarrassing as the sound is loud and I can hear it in the car with windows closed and no radio. I don't want to take off the deflector because I think it looks good.
This issue has been stumping the mechanics. My wife's HHR has 113,000 miles on it and has been trouble free up to now. The last two months it will suddenly not want to start after being driven for 20 - 30 minutes and then sitting for an hour to 75 minutes. It turns over but won't start. Even more strange if you then wait for a full hour it will start right up. Mechanics are stumped as they cannot duplicate the problem.
View 3 RepliesThe other evening my 2006 Town & County 3.3L would not accelerate well and I though I detected a miss while trying to accelerate. Also, when I got it up to around 55mph and would try to accelerate to pass, the engine would kick clear up to over 4000rpm and barley accelerate. I checked the plugs, the were fine, changed the plug wires didn't make any difference. The van had about a half a tank of gas in it, so I went ahead and filled it up, and that didn't change anything. I let the van sit overnight and the next afternoon took it out on the road and it seems to accelerate fine now.
The only thing I'm still noticing at this point is that with the transmission in park, when I try to rev the engine up to around 3000 rpm, it starts cutting off/missing very badly at around 2800 rpm.
My 99 grand voyager with 3.3L does not do, so I'm wondering if still have some kind of issue on my 06 or is there something on the newer vans that limits the rpm in park, it doesn't seem to be cutting out or missing at that rpm range now while driving.
I did an oil change recently, as I have done many times in the past, but this is the first time different noise like this could be heard.
I had synthetic in there before (mobil 1 + mobil 1 filter) because it was on sale for a ridiculous price, and I figured I would try it out. I now have Shell oil in the engine and it is the same weight (10w-30) as always. It is dino oil, supposedly with synth blend or something, and I also installed another synth filter.
I now have some minor valvetrain noise, a little louder than normal, and a tick that is loud - which is the part that really worries me.
Should I go back to synthetic, or should I look at the top end? I opened the valve cover, but nothing looks wrong at a quick glance.
I have a 2012 accent, while I drive this loud squealing happens. My car is under warranty but the techs have to hear the noise to do anything.
At 55mph the squealing gets so loud my music can't cover the noise. Around 70mph it goes away (still can hear slightly). When I come to a stop it keeps squeaking for few seconds then stops.
For the past week or so, I've noticed that if my car has been stood for a while (say overnight or whilst at work) I have quite an annoying squeak/squeal when I'm initially accelerating or even coasting within the first couple minutes of driving. If I step on the breaks or speed up, it'll go and most of the time it's then gone for the duration of the drive. Aside from the fact it's highly embarrassing to have everyone stare at my car as I drive away, I'm also extremely worried it's insight into a big problem. What it could be?
View 6 RepliesI have a '02 Accent with a 1.6L. Over the summer the A/C blew ice cold. I changed all the belts and after a few weeks I noticed that whenever I turned on the heat or A/C the car squeaked. After that I saw that the compressor would stop spinning whenever the squeaks happen. I sprayed the pulley and clutch with silicone spray and it worked great for a day then the same problem again. Eventually I snapped the A/C belt, replaced the idler pulley, and the tensioner bolt but still the same problem. What it could be?
