I have an '07 Avalon Limited with the heated/ventilated front seats. The drivers seat just does not seem to cool properly, and what the problem might be. Occasionally when I put my hand on the seat I can feel a tiny amount of air blowing through the perforations, but most of the time it's not nearly enough to cool through a pair of jeans, and I can't even tell that it's on.
View 3 RepliesOk...I've been reading about Michelin tires on the forum and unfortunately, I just bought my 07' Limited with a brand new set of Kelly "Charger" Tires. So, I took a trip last week and noticed at 55-73 mph, the car rides nice, smooth, and quiet. However, when I hit 74 or 75 mph, I began hearing a road noise that sounds as if the tires have hit a certain oscillatory air resonance at this speed.
I'm wondering if it's due to the tire tread pattern or something else. Strangest damn thing. When I accelerate faster, the noise seems to diminish a little but still isn't smooth and quiet. Maybe I'm just drowning it out some while it accelerates. When I bring it back down below 74 mph, it goes nice and quiet again.
I have the tire pressures set at 40 psi (trying to get a little extra fuel mileage). However, I'm wondering if this might cause the problem...I believe the pressure should be between 35-38 psi. My TPMS light hasn't lit up, so I guess it doesn't see fault with an extra 2 psi. Anyway, the tires appear to be a quality tire. I looked they show the following ratings.
My beloved 07 Avalon is in the process of getting totaled because someone (NOT ME) didn't bother to see if there was any oncoming traffic before turning. But I digress.
I'm 99% I'll be replacing it with another 07 Limited, and I have to finish cleaning it out of all my belongings tomorrow. In short, I'm taking everything out of it I can, including my satellite receiver. Looking at the procedures for installing the 06 and 09 (which I could find easily online) it looks like all I need to do is:
- remove the panel on the right inside of the trunk
- remove the receiver unit by unscrewing the 2 10 mm nuts
- unplug the receiver
Is there anything else I should grab while I'm in there? And, how hard is it to remove the panel in the trunk?
Problem just started last night when I turned the defroster on. Now the engine cuts off when the air is turned on at lower speed/rpms.
View 4 RepliesOn my sister's 2009 avalon unlimited, the remote will only unlock the rear drivers side door. If the door handle is grasped to unlock the doors, only the rear drivers side door unlocks. On the inside of the car, the drivers side door unlock switch (master switch) does nothing. The passengers side door unlock switch only unlocks the rear drivers side door. The bottom line is that only the rear drivers side door locks and unlocks using the remote or passenger side door unlock button on the inside of the vehicle.

Dealer told mechanic that they've never seen one of these sensors go and to check the wiring harness for damage; mechanic found none. 153,000 miles.
View 7 RepliesI have an 06 Limited with the smart key, and am trying to find out if there is a way to lock the doors automatically. It seems there's all kinds of things the smart key can do, but this isn't one of them. Between the Engine Immobilizer and the smart key, they can be set to do everything automatically except lock the doors. I know the smart key can lock the doors from the outside, but you have to press the door lock button on the smart key which isn't much of an improvement over just sticking a dumb key into the door lock.

2007 XLS with Nav. The driver side door lock won't automatically lock. It still unlocks fine but it will not lock via the remote or when I put the car in gear.

Recently, tonight actually, I noticed that the light for the passenger rear seat heat/cool control is out. I was wondering if this is something that I can replace myself - or I should go to the dealer for.
View 4 RepliesI have a 2012 Avalon Limited with the automatic temperature control. It used to be that the recirculation function was controlled automatically. The recirculation function would come on when ever the outside temp was hot enough and the inside temp setting was low enough. This is also how my 2000 Avalon XLS works and how my 2014 Tundra 1794 Edition works. Both have the automatic air conditioning system. Now the recirculation function must be turned on manually in order for it work. This has just been happening for the last 3-4 months. The dealer service writer tells me that all 2010 through 2012 Avalons with the automatic temp control Air Conditioning require the recirculation function to be controlled manually. Is this really true?
The manual makes no mention of this requirement to control the recirculation function manually. The manual says that the recirculation function MAY be controlled manually, but, when the A/C is on automatic temp control, the recirculation function is turned on and off by the A/C, depending upon the outside air temperature and the interior vehicle temp setting chosen on the A/C front panel.
how to fix this or test them ? could it be a fuse ?
View 10 RepliesWell, no wiring mod is required. Here is the procedure:
1. Set the LCD on the combination meter to the ODO trip.
2. Press and hold the TRIP meter reset knob for ten seconds or more within six seconds of turning the ignition switch to the ON position. Fastening the driver's seat belt while holding the knob cancels the buzzer reminder. (You may have to hit the reset meter knob to cycle through b-ON to b-OFF)
3. When this occurs, the LCD displays "b-OFF". The buzzer reminder can be switched between ON and OFF each time the TRIP meter knob is pressed. The LCD displays "b-ON" or "b-OFF" according to the buzzer reminder ON/OFF status. The display changes to the ODO or trip meter if the knob is not pressed in 10 seconds.
4) Performing steps 1) and 2) again when the buzzer reminder is off exits cancel mode.
I was able to disable the seat buzzer and took a drive. IT WORKs! I am so relieved.
Just bought a 2012 limited Avalon and am trying to link smart key door unlock to seat memory. Have followed directions in manual (ignition off, door closed, seat set to desired position - press 2 and unlock at same time, hear beep). After doing this process, I move the drivers seat and close and lock drivers door and wait until lights go out. No seat movement upon door unlock. Have to press seat memory position button to move seat back.

My problem is with the obnoxious seat belt warning chime which seems to go on forever. How to disable it? I use my belt all the time. Don't need a reminder.
View 14 RepliesNeed to locate the fuse for the power seats in an 07 Toyota Avalon. The seat has been stuck in an uncomfortable position for a while. Id like to check the fuse before removing the entire seat to look at the motor. Dealer wants $200 for this info.

View 2 RepliesI have a 2014 Avalon Hybrid XLE Touring. Only rarely can I get the Easy Exit setting to work on the driver's seat. I set it and save it on the display screen when the car is running and is in PARK but it will not work.
View 6 RepliesBoth front seat heaters are not working on my 2009 Avalon XLS. The center console lights do not illuminate. I presume it's not the fuse because according to the owners manual the 7.5A fuse also controls dash light, power outlet and flashers and they all work. Could it be another fuse, or something else? I can use a voltmeter
