Having wind noise in the rear passenger doors when highway driving? I checked the rubber door seals and they appear to be ok. 2013 Avalon.
View 12 RepliesI recently had my 2013 Santa Fe Sport serviced at a dealer and finally remembered to tell them about the front windows wind noise at highway speeds. It has been ongoing for quite some time. When the service rep brought my vehicle back to me he told me that Hyundai was aware of the problem, and that it was caused by the moon roof. I did not see any recent posts to the forum or on the internet regarding the window noise, except for some older ones referencing noise related to the side view mirrors and adding insulation to them.

1) Water pump.
Its not leaking or making noise at this time.
2) Clutch clicking at initial travel.
Noticed this on the first couple miles.
3) Smelly A/C.
This is ongoing
4) Wind noise from doors at highway speed.
Noticed this also
5) Wastegate rattle
Don't hear any rattle, or I am not narrowing down the sound when it happens.
Anything else I should add?
I have a 2011 limited and around 41 mph I get a lot of wind noise from the top of the driver side A pillar. I did some research and it seems like it's a known issue. During my research I found there may have been an advisory issued (T-TT-0065-10) by Toyota, but the dealer can't find a record of it.
I've heated the seals / molding around the top of the door and re-fluffed it which didn't work. The seals are doing their job. When I pressure wash the car no water is getting in (never did). Tried sealing the gaps with blue painters tape to stream line the gaps and that didn't work. I'm pretty sure the noise isn't caused by the seal. It's difficult to pinpoint.
Heat shield around the rear muffler near tail pipe is a piece of junk. it makes noise because its so flimsy. The wind blows on it going down the road its about as strong as tin foil. If you hear noise from the rear, check both heat shields they may have stones or leaves inside them, they can make weird noises.

View 9 RepliesGot a 2007 XLS back in Feb 2011 with around 65k. First problem happend today with around 76K. Noticed a miss driving down the highway around 65 mph. A few seconds later noticed another miss. The MIL and VCS went on with the first miss. Pulled the codes with my trusty INNOVA 3100 scan tool. Although I got a lot of use from it with my 2000 XLS, I am still learning how to use all the features.
Pulled the following codes. P0354 "ignition Coil D Primary/Secondary Circuit". Also got about 20 other codes that I assumed came from the primary P0354. Learned that the 'D" cyl was in the middle (4) next to the radiator. I cleared the codes, and plan to swap the (4) coil with the (6), and see if I get a P0356 which would confirm that the coil is bad. I checked to see if the wires got nibbled, but did not see anything.
I have a lot of wind noise in my 2 front windows when driving highway speeds, no water leaks. I cannot find where it is coming from either, I assume it is either air rushing over the mirrors or thin glass. Sometimes it is worse than others, not sure if cross winds etc. Is that common in 2009 Sonata. My old 2003 Malibu, much quieter but mirrors were slightly more rounded if I remember.
View 12 RepliesToday I visited my Dealer to check out the wind noise that we are hearing - driver and passenger. They did agree after a road test that there is a wind noise. They also took out another GS 350 and noticed the same. They called CA to check if others reported this problem and the answer was no. The Service Consultant indicated this will be entered to review in more detail. While waiting, I looked at cars in the showroom. The triangle filler at the front of the windows on the GS 460 and ES models had a horizontal ridge molded in this filler piece. Not sure for the reason - wind noise reduction?
Also, wanted the oil changed at 3K miles and the Consultant indicated it was not necessary. Stated that oil change is not needed until 10K miles due to now using synthetic oil. I do not agree with this. Will have oil changed in the next week to remove any fines that may be in the oil of the new engine.
Requested changes to the number of lane change turn signal blinks and lowering windows when depressing FOB unlock. The latter was no problem due to using a laptop interface. However, the signal change is using a combination of turn signal and wiper levers. I have a copy of the instructions and never have seen anything so complex. I don't understand why these changes cannot be make by the owner similar to some of the other features.
How is the wind noise in your cars? Noticed once I hit about 35 mph that there is a good amount of wind noise coming through the passenger side.
View 14 RepliesNotices such a noise from the rear passenger side door (same side as the fuel cap. Also experienced this same window 'malfunction'. Lowered it partially and then auto-rolled it up. Instead of auto-rolling up to a close, it rolled all the way up and then all the way down where is stopped.
View 4 RepliesWe have a 2005 Avalon. The rear passenger door appeared to "stick occasionally, trouble opening or closing. Now the door is closed and we cannot open it. It seems like it is locked. Since it is not open, it appears that access to the door interior is very difficult.
View 3 RepliesMy 2013 is 9 months old and over time I've noticed whenever I lock my doors. My passenger side rear door does an extra click. Sounds like it's locking twice, an extra one after the original click.It's not a huge deal, I just hear it every time and I wonder if it could turn into an issue with locking etc.. Don't have a problem bringing it into the dealer for a look.
View 7 RepliesI've owned a 2012 Prius Two for less than a month now, and today while driving home I noticed what sounds like road/wind noise coming from the rear passenger side area. Googling about this revealed information about the battery fan. However, I'm unsure if what I'm hearing is the battery fan or road/wind noise that I just haven't heard before.
Here's information regarding the conditions I was driving in:
- 84 degrees outside temperature
- car had been sitting in an open-air parking lot for about 2 hours
- no tint, no windows cracked for hot air release
- upon returning to the car I turned on the AC to 68, set at mid range speed
- was driving on the interstate doing some stop-and-go, but mostly 50-plus MPH
- windows rolled up completely, no doors ajar
- it sounded like air rushing by
- could not hear anything coming from the left rear side, but my left ear is partially blocked by the headrest, so...
- sound would decrease in volume if car slowed down
- sound would increase in volume as car got faster, but would eventually level out it seemed
- sound would completely go away at speeds below 20ish mph
- sound would not change based on level of AC, whether on, low, high or off
- checked battery vent for obstructions/debris, saw nothing, and was cool to the touch
- car has about 28k miles on it, replaced rear tires yesterday but all bolts, caps, etc. are securely in place
My 05 phaeton has a lot of wind noise coming from it especially over 60 miles per hour. The window is fully up the door is closed and even in the car wash no water gets in. The seal seems tight.
View 3 RepliesHaving trouble with the auto dimming mechanism of the rear view mirror? Mine seldom dims when driving at night when other cars are behind me hitting the mirror with their headlights.
I tested it by shining a small flashlight on the sensor and it responds as expected, but it just doesn't work in the real world. I don't think my expectations are too high as my wife's Camry mirror works great, just not my Avalon...
Of course the dealer said it was operating correctly after shining a light on it in the shop, but wasn't interested in doing a road test.
I have an 05 avalon. There has always been this rattling noise from the rear deck lid (i suppose). The noise is so annoying. I suspect its coming from that deck lid. I also have a buzzing rear electric shade that has refused to go down. Just removed the fuse

View 2 RepliesOver the last 6 months I've developed a rattle in the rear (possibly right side) that has become louder over time. During the summer months I crawled underneath to see if anything was loose but nothing obvious. Since it's winter now with several inches of snow I don't have any desire to go underneath again.
I'll assume it's not safety related but I did check the exhaust and or any shield and all seems tight.
I know this is trivial, but the manual says that to get all 4 doors to open with one click on the FOB instead of twice, you need to take it to the dealer. I recently got an 05' XLS with the key FOB, and a key for the ignition. How to change the door unlock mechanism to unlock all 4 doors with one click.
