2008 Camry LE 2AZ-FE - With sun roof
Basically, my car leaks when it's being rained on and it's not moving. If I'm driving at any speed, it doesn't leak. It only leaks when the car is getting rained on and isn't moving (parked)
What is allowing this? The door weather strips? The sunroof weather strip? The windshield?
I want to avoid maintenance that isn't necessary.
I have a 1997 Lincoln towncar with the air suspension. After parked for overnight I found the car sagging in the rear so I thought a air bag went out so I thought I would take it in to get fixed but the next few nights nothing happen the car stayed level then the next night it went down then the next few nights it stays level.
I took it to the dealer and they told me they see nothing wrong and kept it over night and it did not go down. It is like a roll of the dice if it stays level or goes down. I sprayed the air bags and the lines to them with soap water to see if I could find any leaks but I did not see anything.
The compressor is buried so unless I know that is the problem I am not going to rip everything apart to not find a leak or is that where I should be starting. If the car is running everything stays level and no light is on. I do not want coils in the car I like the air suspension.
My Santa Fe was really hard to start this morning..it seems when it rains overnight it seems to spin and spin and spin and take some time to start.. Could a low voltage battery be in cause ?
When it starts, i see no loss in performance or any CEL that's come up and runs like it always did before.
Any quick tests that could be done before i take it back to the dealer for a diagnosis ? I have a multimeter so i guess i could check my battery voltage to see if it's the source of my problem.
This is Toyota Camry 98 with V6 3.0 engine.After smelling burnt oil while driving (mostly during stops, to be more precise), I took the car to Toyota service mechanics. They found leaks in both valve cover gaskets, and a leak from behind the timing belt cover. The leaks from valve covers were dripping onto exhaust, causing the burning smell.
The total repair cost is quoted at around $2k ($700 for valve covers and $1300 for what is behind the timing belt assembly).
Is it worth doing ? My worry is that, since 3 separate seals are failing, it is likely that other seals will start failing soon.Should the whole engine be rebuilt instead ?
My wife's 06 v6 all of a sudden developed an exhaust leak. It sounds like it's on the drivers side right about the side of the engine or at the firewall. It's my wife's car so anything is possible, I'm wondering if there is a Y near there and she bottomed out on something. I'll be putting it up on a rack soon, where to look?
View 3 RepliesMy 96 Camry LE has an oil leak coming from what looks to be a bolt hole on the right side of the engine. She has 171K miles, good condition. I'm not entirely sure it's the rear main seal as people keep telling me.
View 5 RepliesI have noticed recently after couple of rainy days that my driver door and passenger door sills are filled up with water I assumed that there is a leak from underneath the door which comes from in between the door and the wheel. Is it like i have to buy an after market plastic covers to stop this leakage?
View 3 RepliesI've got a 96 Toyota Camry, 4 cyl, that appears to be losing coolant. I do not see any apparent leaks. I've checked compression and all cylinders are 170lbs. Within the past year I've replaced the radiator and hoses, timing belt, water pump, etc. Within the past month I replaced the thermostat and radiator cap. I do see it bubbling in the overflow tank. Also you see vapor with the radiator cap off. I feel sure its probably a head gasket ..
View 2 RepliesI've got an '08 Cobalt. There is a large leak in my coolant system. The plastic reservoir is empty and if I add coolant and start the engine it all gushes out of a hole in a piece of plastic on the side of the radiator. Can I drive it to the shop if I watch the engine temperature or should I have it towed? Is the engine temperature measurement affected by the lack of coolant?
View 6 RepliesI have a 2004 Camry LE with 214,000 miles on the clock, and this car has had needed maintenance pertaining to the braking system ever since I bought it in January. Let me give you some background on past issues/maintenance before I dive into my current issue.
During the test drive, the brake pedal felt extremely soft/spongy, having to travel a lot farther than any other car I've driven (even my father's full size pickup had stronger brakes). My dad dismissed it just being the way the car was. In hindsight I would've walked away or slept on it, but let's just say I was pressured into buying the car right away.
We took it to my trusted local mechanic a few days later for an overall inspection, and he said the front brakes/rotors needed to be replaced. He said the rear brakes were thin, but could be replaced later down the line. So we replaced the front ones, expecting it to have some improvement. In reality, the brake pedal force was still the same as before.
A few months later, after hearing faint squeaking coming from the rear brakes, the brake light started to illuminate intermittently. That's when we decided to replace the rear brakes/rotors. After we replaced the rear brakes, braking motion was dramatically improved, and I did not have to push the pedal very far to achieve adequate braking power. It was great,while it lasted.
It gradually started to go back to the way it was, which is really disappointing. After growing tired of the problems, I decided to check the brake fluid level in the reservoir, and it was practically at the minimum line! Figuring it was a brake line or master cylinder leak, we took it again to my mechanic to have him inspect the braking system. Much to everyone's surprise (including my mechanic), there were no leaks to be found and he told me to come back if it gets worse or the brake light comes on. HOWEVER, when I drove it home from the mechanic, the brakes felt the way they did when he put the rear rotors on. On the service record, it said he just looked for leaks and readjusted the rear rotors. This was about a month ago, or at 209,000 miles.
However, as before, the brakes slowly started to loose their "bite" again and sure enough, the master cylinder had lost fluid; albeit not as significant as before, but enough to require topping off. In addition, whenever I'm decelerating on the freeway (from let's say, 75-60 MPH), the wheel shakes as well. This wasn't really present before.
My patience is running thin with this car; we've easily spent half the value of the car on maintenance.
My 94 is suddenly seeing small coolant loss with no apparent leaks, temp goes up on dial now when idling, more frequent white smoke from tailpipe. My wife ran is bone dry of coolant when water pump failed 6 mo ago. Mechanic replaced water pump, timing belt and warned that there could be head damage that may appear in a few months. Is this what I am now seeing or should I start with something else?
View 3 RepliesA couple of days ago, my wife noticed that the floor mat on the rear passenger side of her car was sopping wet. She thought perhaps a water bottle must have spilled or leaked, so she soaked up the water and dried out the mat. Today, the mat was wet again with about an inch of water accumulating only on the passenger side of the rear floor.
We have had no significant rain for more than two weeks; in fact, it's been sunny and hot with temps in the 90s. There is no water on the front floor or the rear driver's side floor. Due to the heat, we have run the AC, but it is working fine with no apparent leaks. There is no apparent leaking in the trunk or underneath the car. There are no apparent leaks from the radiator or hoses. Everything is working fine, except for the water on the rear passenger side floor. We can't figure out the source of the water.
The car is a 2006 4-door Toyota Camry LE with 199K miles on it.
I owned a 09 Prius for 8 weeks, and after a total loss accident, we replaced it with a 08 Touring model. I have never experienced anything like this with the 09, but have multiple times on the 08 (though no real rhyme or reason as to when/why)
The originally happened the night we picked up the 08. I stopped at target to pick up some milk while the wife sat in the car. the car was left in ready mode. when the ICE engaged the car "surged" forward and was enough to startle my wife (who was the usual driver of the 08) enough for her to think the car was not in park (which it was)
We tried to recreate it after i was finished at the store, and while the car did rock forward, it was not as pronounced as the first time (though much more then We feel the car should move upon the ICE starting.)
Took the car back to toyota, and they preformed a full inspection and stated that everything was within toyota's spec, and to keep an eye on it if it were to happen again.
Well it has done this about 5 times in the last few days. The Dealer is looking in to it.
Recently, I have a weird issue on my car starting problem, 2005 I4. This happened after I replaced the upper engine mount (dog bone). When I left my car parked overnight and try to start in the morning, it makes a very slow start (Ruff Ruff noise). I have to tap on the gas a bit to get it starts. All the lights are still bright when I get to the car in the morning. The car has no issue at all when starts it during daytime or when I park car at work (about 8 hrs.). I checked and cleaned the ground terminals and make sure everything is tight.
View 2 RepliesI have a 2011 Toyota Camry 4 Cylinder LE. When the car has been parked for a period of time 2hours plus, I hear a noise coming from the engine right in front of the Driver Seat. The noise only happens on the first acceleration after its been parked. It only happens once.
It sounds like something moves or shifts into place.
My situation of hearing a clunk, clunk only when reversing the first time after the 2002 Camry was parked over night. The clunk clunk would not appear after the first reverse til the car was parked overnight and reversed the next day. I fixed this situation by only changing out both rear rotors, but diagnosing the problem was very frustrating as the symptom seemed to be only the rear wheels being stuck with the break pads and no connection with applying the breaks. Fortunately the problem was only with the rotors and not the differential or transmission or other expensive replacements.
View 3 RepliesI have a 2007 Camry I4 AT. I searched and most mention noise coming from brake, etc. I don't see noise being mentioned when car is parked.
With my Camry in P, if I push the car a little bit, even just getting in or out of the car, I can hear a metal grinding noise coming from the rear of my car. The brakes looks okay. If I engage the foot brake, the noise reduces but does not go away. The noise seems to come from the bottom rear.
It happen already at least 4 times or more I park my car in garage I went to grab something out of gargeand I hear humming noise coming from the car some place feels like its coming from the rear but I cant pin point it. When I turn the key on it stops I made a video but you cant hear it to good I will post video later. What that can be ????
View 9 RepliesMy wife's 2012 Camry XLE has developed a brake squeal after a car has been parked for a day at her work or in the driveway or street overnight. The brakes squeal in the beginning when a car is maneuvered out of a parking spot or driveway (backing out) or pulling forward with foot on the brake pedal. After that, during normal city and freeway driving and using the brakes, the squeal does not appear and brakes work fine.
I thought it might be rust but that would be gone when brakes are used. What could it possibly be?
I have a brand new Camry SE 2014.5 and since day one, when ever I park the car and come back after a short while or when ever I start the car and keep it on for a while, it looses water under the front passenger side. Initially I thought it is the air condition but now I am afraid that there is something wrong with the coolant system. BTW: The temperature of the engine is always in the normal zone. The car is about 2 month and 1500 miles old. What it could be?
