I recently bought 2009 camry se. The car is great, but i hear whining noise at low rpms coming from the engine, especially when going in traffic. It only happens when driving from 1k-2k rpms. Is it normal for camry or is something wrong?
View 3 RepliesStarting about a week ago whenever my car goes above about 2 thousand rpms I start hearing a faint high pitched whining sound, increasing to a more audible level as the rpms increase.. I've ruled out breaks and tires, which weer my initial thoughts, and I think it's something with a belt or the engine now. I have manual shift 2002 Hyundai Elantra.. The car still performs fine, but I have noticed a slight decrease in acceleration speed..

View 5 RepliesI have an issue with my 2009 F150 Platinum. I'm hearing this whining noise when I decelerate. This seems to be the only time I hear it, not while accelerating, so I want to rule out the transmission but it may be a drivetrain problem.
View 14 RepliesSo I have a 2008 Chevy Impala LS that hasn't given me any real problems. I had some battery troubles recently that were the result of me leaving the parking/security lights on for 10 consecutive hours, but overnight-charged the battery and was good-to-go after that. But it seems like RIGHT after that was when the whining noise started.
It seems to be related to my power-steering system. I know this since the whining seems to pick up with acceleration and turning. However, I checked my power steering fluid and it did not appear to be depleted at all. I did notice, however, that it seems to be a light greenish color...which from doing a google search, I've gotten the impression that it's probably not supposed to be that color.
What exactly is going on here?
I have a 2009 F-150 with 5.4L 4x4. Recently I've been hearing a whining noise when I'm driving at low speeds. I don't hear it at startup and if the truck is idling in the driveway the sound goes away after a while. Only while accelerating and turning. I can't tell if it gets worse while turning or not. At first I thought it was an idler pulley, but since it doesn't happen when idling, I am leaning on power steering pump.
View 6 RepliesOn the way to work the other day I noticed a whining noise that got louder as I accelerated. When I got to work, I checked to make sure the belts were all ok and they were. When I got home, I inspected further. The noise was constant and got louder when revved. It also got louder when the a/c was turned from on to off. I figured it was the a/c clutch. Shop confirmed it's the clutch and bearing. My wife and I have owned the car since it was new and now it has 93.5k miles on it.
View 3 RepliesWe have a 2006 camry with he 4 cylinders at about 106,000 miles. All of a sudden, the car has started a loud whining or purring noise. I have checked all my fluids and the appear to be at proper operating levels and there is no leaking anywhere that I can see. I replaced the water pump last year but have not replaced a belt on the car. The noise starts when you crank the car up and sounds like it is in tune with the engine. The steering doesn't appear to be affected although if there has been a gradual change the ease of steering I may not notice, but it is not at the point of being a manual steering without power. I cannot hear it through the speaker (like a bad diode). No real performance change in the engine or transmission except when decreasing speed the downshift of the transmission is more noticeable, like the gnome is dragging the through the gears.
View 2 RepliesA few weeks ago I started noticing what I would best describe as a whining noise when I accelerate. It's not very high-pitched but definitely noticeable. It seems the more I accelerate, the higher pitched the whine becomes, and I can only hear it when I am accelerating. It is not very loud: if I have the radio or stereo on I can't hear it. I have a 2009 Corolla LE with around 122k miles on it (I drive a lot for work.) A few weeks ago I had the car in for an oil change, and was told that my battery was getting low and will need to be replaced soon, so I'm not sure if that would have anything to do with it. As far as describing the specific location of where it is coming from, the best I can say is that it's coming from somewhere under the hood...I know that's a very vague description, but I can't really pinpoint it to anywhere beyond that.
View 3 RepliesI've run into a very strange whining noise in the mornings on my 2010 Corolla S.
I've done some diagnosis and the issue only occurs when it gets chilly out (below about 50 degrees). When you go out to the car in the AM with things dead cold and turn the key into the run position before you start it the noise starts up right under the dash on what sounds like the passenger side. I've tried the fan on and off and it doesn't seem to affect it. It does seem to be lasting longer and it really sounds like a bad bearing in a small motor. As the car warms up the noise disappears and doesn't reappear unless it cools down all the way, which usually means it has to sit overnight.
It doesn't seem to affect how the car runs so I'm guessing it's not a primary system, likely something with climate control or AC?
I was installing a new engine mount the one on the tranny and one of my jack stands failed on me, luckily I wasn't under the car. I always put a tire under the car just in case and it worked for me, but now whenever I accelerate I have a humming/whining noise. Can this be the transmission? This is on the 07 Camry 4 Cylinder.
View 14 RepliesMy ALT is making a bad whining noise and when I disconnect it, the noise stops. it also seems to be slowing down the engine if that's possible.
The batt voltage is the same with the car running or stopped. no cell, batt idiot light comes on at startup and goes off like the rest of the warning lights.
This is the 2006 2azfe 4 banger.
I believe its gotta be a diode pack shot. Is it difficult to replace the pack or should I just get a rebuilt one? The Haynes doesn't show how to disassemble the alt and replace anything but I should be able to do it. would I also need to replace the brushes at the same time?
So, my Camry just started making a noise today. I was able to find the exact noise it was making on YouTube, to use as a reference for you all. Basically, it's a low pitch whine that raises pitch during acceleration. Once at highway speed, it's completely gone (probably due to ambient noise).
No CEL or any other warnings. I just hit 75k on the car, and from previous experience, it sounds like it could be related to a bearing in the alternator.
I have a 2009 Toyota Yaris with 35,000 miles, and fully up-to-date with all the 5,000-mile usual maintenance checks [no prior problems]. Driving on a hot day, I hit Bakersfield and the car started to make a high-pitched whining noise, which got louder with the accelerator and softer when I took my foot off the gas. I thought perhaps the car was overheating and let it rest for a while, and checked the coolant [which was at a normal level]. I finished the drive to LA and stopped by the Toyota dealer who said it must have just been the fan given the hot weather.
The noise went away overnight, but the next day I was driving around town when it was overcast and cool, and even driving locally, the car made the whining noise intermittently, especially loud at low speeds like coasting in a parking lot, and the noise has been getting louder and sounding more pathological--not like a normal engine or fan noise, but like a truly problematic high-pitched straining sound. Sometimes it comes on when I start the car, sometimes restarting the car makes the noise go away for an hour or two.
It sounds almost like an electric razor being whipped around like a numchuck - a hitch pitched whine that is rotating in the engine and speeds up with the accelerator and calms down but doesn't go away at a stoplight. Perhaps I finally ran over my neighbor's annoying kitty. But today's latest Toyota mechanic also couldn't figure it out because the noise didn't start when he turned on the car and didn't restart on his test drive, but only a few hours later after I'd driven the car around town.
My rear brake makes a whining noise when I go on reverse. I know is brake related because while on reverse, if I barely touch the brake pedal the noise goes away. But without touching the brake pedal whines and sometimes loud and is embarrassing.

Some information : 2006 Camry 2.4L.
I have removed the belt to verify that the noise is not from any belt-driven components. Using an Engine Ear, it gets louder towards the exhaust manifold, but apart from starting to tear things down.
Turned my car (07 SE v7 with 240k on the clock) on this AM and there was a high pitched whine coming right from the engine bay - matched to the revs of the car, regardless of gear.
This is a new noise to me and the car - but I'm assuming it's some kind of belt issue.
2010 F150 XLT 4.6V .... Not too long ago my truck started making this whining/roaring noise when I accelerate. It does not matter what speed I am going from the slowest to the fastest it makes this noise but it does not make it when it is idle or at least it is not loud to the point where I can hear it while inside my truck. I am not sure what this can be I am at about 51,000 miles and have no problems other than the noise besides the fact that to me it seems as if it pulls at times when I drive it but others say they don't feel it pull. So I am not sure what is going on and I do not want to take it to any mechanic I'd rather fix it myself and know what is going on with my vehicle?
View 5 RepliesI have a 2004 Camry (2.4 Ltr engine) with 120k miles on it. 2 days ago a whistling/whining noise began after I had been running errands & restarted my car after being parked for about 20 minutes.
If my car has been sitting and the engine is cold (like when I get up in morning to go to work) the noise doesn't start until it gets to the 3rd line above the "C" on the temp gauge. It's a constant sound while idling or driving, except when I am accelerating. The noise seems to be originating from around the alternator, but hard to tell exactly. I have no Check Engine, battery or other indicator lights showing. Other than this mystery noise my car is running fine.
I have a 2011 2.5 Camry when cold it makes a whining noise seems to be coming from power steering pump. Looking on the internet it seems this is a Toyota problem. Will I be wasting my time bringing in for service? I hear they say this id normal. It quiets after warm up. Any recalls?
View 7 RepliesYesterday as soon as I started my car, I noticed a high pitched whining noise. As I drove, it seemed to stop, but as I slowed down and idled, it came back. After driving a couple miles, the battery light came on, so I turned off the AC, radio, and lights and it went off again, but as I sat at stop lights it would flicker on and off again.
