I have a 15 Camry, and the other day after about five minutes of driving, the BSM (blind spot monitor) gave a long beep and then an error message to check the BSM showed on the instrument cluster. I tried to reset it while driving by turning the BSM on/off. This didn't work.
After restarting the car, it went away. I've never had a car with BSM, and didn't see any damage to the bumper.
Started having a key issue: while in the car, intermittently, get a "key out" error with accompanying long beep as if you walked away with car running. This happened while driving. Changed the battery (key fob-keyless limited elantra 2011) but still did it. Not all the time, unpredictable. Got 90k miles, and not a covered entity per dealer...yes, not a power train component.
View 7 RepliesI've been getting this "system fault workshop!" error message popping up like crazy. Its got a picture of a key, and makes the audible beep when it appears. on a short drive to work, maybe 10 minutes, it will randomly come on and beep anywhere from 3-10 times during my drive. The car starts and drives perfectly fine. This has been happening for a little over a week now. I noticed one post about this before, but that owner seemed to have different symptoms as their car wouldn't start. I really would hate to bring it into the dealership, as I've just paid them a small fortune fixing different things to finally get down to the bottom of it to find out i needed new fuel pump modules.
View 3 RepliesEvery time I touch the brakes I now get a very annoying beep and an error message that says "wiring fault on trailer." I don't have a trailer hooked up so not for sure what's going on. The error message on the console I can live with but that loud beeping is driving me crazy.
If you hit the brake and keep the pedal depressed, then you only get the initial beep and then it goes away. The problem for me is I live north of Dallas so if I'm in traffic then I'm constantly hitting the brakes. I called my dealer today so I'll wait to hear what they have to say.
I have a 2006 Prius with 140,000 miles on it.
Everything was going great till Saturday. Was coming back from taking trash off and all of a sudden it made a beep and 4-5 lights came on the dash. 2-3 of the lights in the book.
I just changed the battery in my 07 Camry with factory installed navigation system and now my whole radio/navigation system is DEAD.
I ejected and reinstalled DVD in NAV system and it has no effect. The ON/OFF button on radio does not turn radio on. Error message on screen is 'No DVD - Please insert MAP DVD. I have checked the radio fuse and it is OK.
I never reset my avg MPG readout but this morning I did. The digital readout jumped to 99.9mpg (was going down a long hill) but the needle stayed at 25mpg. If anything I thought it would have jumped to the highest possible which would have been 60 i think.. it didn't budge. I tried resetting a few times after that and it still stayed at 25 no matter what the digital one said.. how to fix it? I seriously probably haven't reset it in almost 2 years so is it possible the needle is literally just stuck from not being reset? The mpg needle doesn't bother me that much but if that's the quality of the gauge needles I worry about the gas one quitting on me..

View 6 Replies2013 2.5 liter. I took my car into the dealer for a grinding noise on cold start. Sounds kinda like the starter was engaged too long, some sort of grind that only happens after the car has been sitting for a few hours.
They replaced a camshaft VVT-i gear, said it's fixed, and now I swear the noise is louder. Is this just something to consider "normal" for the 2.5 liter engine?
is there a way to make a text message make a sound alert? It will pop up for just a couple of seconds saying "new text message" but if I happen to miss that message. Just wondering is there a way to make it chime or something?

Also, I use Waze as my GPS and I would like to have the turn-by-turn directions play through the car speakers. How to do this? Right now it's playing through the phone speakers. I can receive calls through the car bluetooth though.
My wife have a 14 Corolla LE Plus, no NAV and every time I get a text message it pop up on the screen and I can play the read out message over the car speaker system.
On my Camry it does not do this. I have NAV with the 7" screen. I try matching the setting of my Camry to the Corolla and it seen to be the same but still it does not ready out the message or even pop up when I get a text message.
My IPhone 5 is paired with the car that I know that for sure, all my phone book contacts and phone work just fine even play music from my phone. I can't find anything in the manual.
This my first toyota camry and noticed rear window defroster to take a long time to defrost morning mist from rear window. At 5 mins idle i start to see the defrost lines is this normal?? In my 14 accord rear window would be completely defrosted in 5 mins.
View 3 RepliesI noticed twice on the commute this morning that my vehicle made a long beep sound after completing a left turn. There were no other warning lights/messages on the dash. The first time, I thought it was something coming through over the radio, so I turned it off, and the sound continued, probably for a total of 6-7 seconds at least. It's similar to the beep that comes on if you start moving and the passenger is not wearing his/her seatbelt. The radio was totally off the rest of the way and it happened at the next left turn I made (when I got off the highway). Although it was icy this morning, it was not particularly slippery at the intersections when I made the turn and I did not notice the TCS coming on, etc.
View 10 Repliesunlike a lot of my fellow prii folks, i love the beeps. My favorite one is the confirmation of locking the doors by touch of handle and also unlocking by touch. Believe it or not i even like the backup beep which is kind of like a nice confirmation of "yo, dude! we are going backwards" but the most important one for me is the long single loud beep. happened the other day when i got out of my car to get a coke and the car emitted a continuous loud shrill beep as i started to walk away. I was still in drive.
View 3 RepliesRecently, my car (2015 Sonata GLS) has been making a long beep after shutting off the engine, similar to the beep you get if you exit the car and leave the smart key inside. The beep is outside the car, not inside. The beep happens immediately upon hitting the ignition button, before I even have a chance to open the door. There is no indication of anything on the LCD screen.
This is really annoying, especially when it happens in my driveway late at night because I'm sure the neighbors can hear that 5 second-long beep. What it means?
I recently got a 2014 Camry SE and have started to experience problems with the USB port in the center.
I generally plug in my 5th gen iPod to listen to audio, but I've started to get an connection error. The message reads Connection error. Please consult your Owner's Manual for instruction on how to connect the USB device." (see image link below)
Sometimes the iPod will connect, but most times it won't. If it does connect, the error will appear when I hit a big bump or pot hole, leading me to believe there might be a connection or soldering failure somewhere.
I can confirm that it's not the iPod's problem, my cell phone, tablet, or any other device plugged in will not get a power signal either. The iPod will connect via Bluetooth, but that is not optimal as I'd rather have my phone connected for hands-free calling.
If not, how easy is it to open up the console to get at the connection to check/fix it myself?
Recently, my Prius has been randomly giving me the single, long warning beep when I try to lock it by touching the handle. The car is definitely not still on, and the key is in my pocket when it happens. I've checked the doors, and none are ajar. It's not 100% consistent, but happens about 50-75% of the time. When it happens, I can lock the car with the key or keyfob - but touching the handle just gets me the long beep and no lock.

It flashed a red lock type symbol in the lower right side of the screen as well. What this is? I can't find out in the online dash indicators. The beep stops when I push the door lock down and shut the door.
View 7 RepliesTurned my car on this morning and heard a long loud beep, i look at the car at its saying "Check coolant level low - Check owner's manual"
Turn the car off (engine still cold) pop the hood and coolant reservoir is almost bone dry, way below min level. Check underneath, no apparent leaks, no puddle, etc. Turn car back on, no warning light, drive to dealer, the service advisor looks at it and says there should be no way it's that low that soon.
He said in the morning its common for it to be low but after the engines warmed up it should be higher (and it was) but still below min level. He thought that it was strange and topped it off. Said to keep and eye on it and it will gradually gone down since its 40% water and when it slowly evaporates the level should go down.
So not sure if i have a leak or my car came with low coolant from the factory or something else even, but check your coolant levels
I have a 2015 sonata sport and every time I close my trunk it makes a long beep sound and then goes off. The sound is almost like if you close the car door and leave the keys in the car, almost like a warning sound.
