Seems to still go off for some reason when I unlock the door normally. The key will not stop the alarm as before. I have to pull the fuse to stop it.

I just got my 00 passat in october and for some reason my alarm system goes off after I unlock my driver side door and try to start it. what should I do?
View 3 RepliesFor my '13 GLS, I leave my fob in the center dash box compartment, and lock the doors using the button on the door. Sometimes when I unlock the door w/my key, the alarm goes off. Why is that, and how can I prevent that w/out having to carry around my fob?
View 2 RepliesI've had a 2003 Rav4 for 10 years. Only recently did I discover that there is an alarm system in it. Occasionally, if you try to unlock the door with the key and turn it to the left, the alarm will sound. It goes off once you turn the key to the right to unlock the door. Thus far, it has never beeped when we lock the door.
This morning, for the first time ever the car began sounding 2 beeps when we manually unlocked the door and 1 beep when we lock it. (We don't have a fob) The alarm sounds if we open an unlocked door without first disabling it with the key. It is basically going off every time we try to get into the car. It is incredibly annoying.
What happened? What triggered the system to come out of hibernation? And how do we send it back to sleep?
I came out to get into my car today and pressed the keyfob to unlock and nothing. Went inside, same deal with my backup and valet key. I tried to scan with vag com with the alarm going off and I could link up, but not to the immobilizer or lock system. I did get both key 1 and key 2 adaptation surpassed codes. Even when I manually unlock the drivers door the alarm does not go off and I cannot roll up my windows with the key or unlock any other doors with the key. Things have been strange lately too, every time I lock the car and set the alarm the doors themselves locks don't sink down but the alarm is activated allowing anyone to get into the car but alarm goes off.

When I shut the hood, the car decided to simultaneously lock, and now the horn/alarm is going off and the key fob won't unlock the car or disable the alarm. And the keys don't work in the door/trunk so I can't get inside. What I should do?

I should also note it doesn't seem to do it when it's warm, but when it gets around 50ºF or lower the problem is there. [URL] ....
View 2 RepliesI just bought a 2005 Prius in great condition. However, the alarm is making me crazy. It sounds whenever I unlock the car, whether by remote or keyless entry. I turned off the keyless entry function, but it still sounds when I press the unlock button on the remote. I have to press it again to get it to stop. It is very shocking, especially when using keyless entry. I walk up, stand for a moment to assure my key fob has communicated with the car, touch the door handle and it goes off! Then the car unlocks, I pull open the door and it stops. One day I was just walking by the car with my key in my purse and the alarm went off! I had to find the key in my purse and press the unlock button to turn it off. So strange!

The lights work great but one BIG issue.
I cannot lock my car because after 3 seconds my alarm starts going off. Also whenever I start my car it chirps at me regardless if the alarm has gone off yet.
My car is currently on the road unlocked.
What is the solution to the "Service 4WD Switch" error message. My 1994 Grand Cherokee Laredo(4WD ALL-Time) keeps displaying this message every 2 minutes and it's so distracting. My mechanic doesn't seem to have a clue.

My buddy's 94 Grand Cherokee with 5.1 L has developed a loud grinding noise. I thought it sounded like a wheel bearing but the shop said, "front differential, transfer case, and possibly drive shaft."
Does it sound feasible to remove the drive shafts to and from the transfer case, to see if the noise disappears (indicating transfer case and/or shafts)?
If it is the front differential, how big of a job is it to change the whole unit out? Could it be a bearing in the differential; inner axle bearing, or carrier bearing or something?
It is a work vehicle, and he doesn't want to sink big repair into it.
I have found a new issue with my trunk. When I hit the release button the latch unlocks but when I set my alarm and then attempt to open the trunk it is still unlocked even after the alarm has been set!! The worst part is the alarm doesn't ever go off after I open it..
View 1 RepliesSo my remote and main key got into a washing machine...Put new batteries in it but no go. Car does not start with either main key or valet. When I unlock the driver side door with either key, engine does not start and alarm goes off immediately. From searching the forums I assume I have 15 seconds from opening door and I am well within 15 seconds. Remote should not be necessary as transponder used to validating key is a passive RFID in the key part.
Dealership so far has been unuseful. I told them I can't start the car and they said yeah come in and we'll program you a new remote. When I got there (by motorcycle) they told me they need the car. It's a 2000 Passat GLX V6.
Recently I changed a turn signal switch on my VW Jetta 1994, and it turned out the new switch had a faulty horn/airbag connection (just not springin out enough), such that power was not being relayed - I figured this out when the horn would not blow, and on inspection I realized that there was a gap between the connector on the top of the switch and the horn. At the same time I realized that my problem was the signal relay, and not the switch. So I changed back to my old signal switch. The horn is now fine, but I have the airbag alarm light on. I am cannot think of anything I did wrong. So I am wondering whether the light could be coming on because of the initial error when there was no connection where the airbag signal keeps coming on even after the repair error is corrected, or does the alarm indicate a current error rather than a lingering memory of the error I had initially?
View 14 RepliesMy father recently purchased a 2012 Prius 3. To reduce his insurance premiums, he purchased an alarm system, which the dealer installed for him a few days after he first took the car off the lot. Now, when unlocking or locking the car from the driver's door handle sensor or via the remote, it both chirps (not the horn) and briefly sounds the horn twice or once, depending on whether you are unlocking or locking.
The problem is that when the car is unlocked from the trunk or the passenger door (using the door handle sensor with the key in pocket), this does not disarm the alarm, and the alarm will sound when the door is opened. The alarm is only disarmed when using the remote's unlock button or using the Smart Key sensor at the driver's door. One of the major differences between the 3 and 2 trims is that the 3 has Smart Key capability on the front doors and the trunk, rather than just the driver's door but the alarm has negated this benefit, as opening the trunk or passenger door without first unlocking from the driver's door or remote causes the alarm to sound.
Is this normal for a Toyota-installed alarm?

After I could not figure why I was having the alarm light I drove the car to a mechanic, explained my sleepless nights and many hours of problem analysis, and then the mechanic took his code reader, connected to the OBD car port, made a few clicks, and charged me $45 and then sent me off. The alarm light has not been back since - it blinks as expected when I start the car.
On my further research I have found that VW airbag light will come on if you check airbag with your ghetto OBD code reader - exactly what I had read! It registers "high resistance", and must be reset by someone with a qualified code reader!
My 1999 Jeep Cherokee, 4L inline 6, has a very weird problem. Usually, after starting, it runs well for around 10 seconds, during which time I back up and get ready to leave. Then when I switch to drive, it starts to run poorly, having no acceleration in speed or and very little in engine rpm, until I stop using the brakes. Exactly when the suspension relaxes, the idle returns to normal and it runs perfectly after that.
Sometimes the rough running starts while I'm backing up too. So I don't think it related to the transmission. But all I have to do is completely stop, and then it runs great from then on.
This doesn't happen every time, but probably 60-80% of the time. It's been happening for about 2 months now.
In both my 1998 and 2000 Jeep Cherokee Sport the speakers in the LF door went dead. In both cases I found a factory splice that went bad. The splice was in the wiring harness that passes through the "boot" from the door to the body. Who ever heard of a splice in an area where the wires flex? I ran a new wire to fix it. I have a copy of the wiring diagram.
View 14 RepliesMy 1996 Jeep Cherokee A/C system pushes cold air but out of the defroster vents not the A/C vents. Why this is happening? I suspect it is the slide switches for the A/C system but I am not sure and do not want to take the dash apart before I have some confirmation. I have checked the vacuum hoses with the heater/A/C system and they seem fine.
View 2 RepliesThis problem is from last winter. 95 Jeep Cherokee. After about -10 it just doesn't produce much heat. Heater fan works fine. Jeep runs plenty warm..but what i neglected to mention and or forgot to consider is... I have a tiny leak in the cooling system somewhere. I added just a small amount of coolant a couple of times over the summer and have witnessed a small amount of steam (not lately for whatever reason) coming from the front of engine compartment. I can't find the leak. My question is :Could this cause enough loss of pressure to affect the cabin heating system.....
