So yesterday i just noticed a ticking sound (drivers side, almost sounds like its coming from from under my drivers seat underneath the car) when i make sharper turns, but it wont tick when i make regular turns or go around corners.
I lowered my car about 5 or 6 months ago on Tein S Tech 9th gen springs, could that have caused whatever this ticking sound is to start ?

I bought a new 2012 corolla a month ago and when the wiper is on the intermittent mode, the wipers make a click sound before it moves and then another click sound after it moves. I still can hear it half of the time with music on (only when the music Is quieter.
I listened to my friend's 2010 corolla and his car had a very faint click. I drove many other cars before and never had this sound. Is this a known sound for corolla?
I recently took my 2010 Corolla CE to my dealership and had some minor work done on the brakes (rust cap cleaned, calipers machined as well)
The new problem now is that I hear a ticking sound while driving as if something is touching.. The Technician at Toyota said there was still 70% on the pads and 80% left on the rear shoes.. Encountered a ticking sound while driving along?
My son's 2010 Toyota Corolla S made a "rattling ticking sound at idle" twice this week.
I can't duplicate it, the oil level is fine and everything is working.
I've read countless threads on coilovers and springs, and I see that a majority of them are addressing ride height.
I currently have the stock springs on my 2010 corolla LE and I would like to make it drive more like a Lexus. I am aware that it is not a Lexus and will never be one unless I trade it in for one.
But I'm hoping I can do something about my perceived rough ride. I've compared it to a 2006 Camry, and even the Camry rides smoother.
I have my eyes on a set of BC coilovers. Will I be able to achieve a smoother (softer) ride than stock...
I have problem with left front brakes corolla. When I changed the router it was fine, but after few month, during down hill when I apply brake, right side make lot of noise. I cleaned pads and pin are good. It happens only on right side, down hill is problem.

Any other time it shifts fine, this is the only scenario it happens in.
It is pretty violent, shifting with a bang.
It is a 2010 corolla, auto, with 70k miles, I have never changed the fluid, and I don't think it has anything to do with it.
The tech said it might be the battery, as it was going bad. I put a new battery in, and it didn't seem to do it for two weeks or so, but is now back doing it again.
I have an 09 matrix 1.8 130k mi. developed a ticking in the top end, after an oil change it went away and came back 1.5k later, pulled the eng oil filter and found some fine metal, my question is does this eng have ocv filters for the ocv solenoids ? if so where ?
View 2 Replieswhen I'm slowly accelerating from a stop there's a repetitive metallic ticking sound from 1st-2nd gear and it goes away after it changes to 3rd. I drive an automatic with 15k miles btw. It comes and goes but when I have a heavy foot off the line, the ticking goes away.

I think the part is behind the glove box. Where is the best place to get the part and where is the best place to find how to do the install?

However, on my way home I noticed an almost ticking noise coming from the engine bay whenever I would accelerate. There wasn't a loss of power, but with the radio off and air off as well you could clearly hear it.
I have a 2009 Corolla and anytime the car is idling and it drops below 1000 RPMS there is an extremely annoying ticking sound, it goes away when I put it in Neutral or the AC is on because it idles higher.
View 7 RepliesI just took my wifes 2013 S to the dealer over a very loud ticking noise that I suspected was the fuel injectors. It ticks at all speeds, idle, etc. The dealer called and said that it was a completely normal sound. I have an identical model except it's a 2012 and it makes absolutely no noise. Her car has only 5000 miles on it. I was wondering if this is a common problem or if the sound truly is normal. This wouldn't be the first time that a stealership has given me the run around.
View 7 RepliesSo I recently replaced my battery with A yellow top battery and got a new 320 volt alternator....my car turns on but will shut off because there is no power coming from the alternator and is running just on battery power alone which is draining the battery. Even when I pull the positive off the battery when it's running it turns off...no power is coming from the alternator but we realized the 4 wires that connect to the alternator only 1 was running power, if I'm not mistaken isn't it suppose to be 2? But we cannot seem to figure out the issue as well the alternator fuse is good we checked that as well , my mechanic also mentioned when the car is off there is still power running from that 1 wire,

Saturday I changed the starter because the old one was going out and I didnt want it to die so it was preventaive. Went to put in the sparkplugs but the dealer gave me the wrong ones, drove to the dealer and they pulled out one I had to check it and put it back in. (I had 9/16 long plugs, which is rare for my engine apparently.) I went to leave, and when I turned it over, nothing happened. I pulled the Key out, waited 5 seconds, started up. Went home, put in the sparkplugs and drove about 300 miles since Saturday and no problem.
Today I went to leave and the car turned over multiple times, after the 4th, it acted like it was starting but shut off and kept turning over.
First, I checked all the wires on the plugs and around them, even pulled all the plugs and put in the old ones. Same problem.
I unplugged the battery and hoped if it was a computer glitch that it would have fixed it. Same problem.
When I turn it over, the started keeps going and it will pretend to turn on for half a second and then keep turning over. I also smell raw gas when I get out of the car for a few seconds before it goes away.
The last time it did throw codes, but I have no reader. I have to wait for the neighbor to pull them. Is there anything I can test or check out? Everything as far as the wires and fuses look good. I am at a loss for where to go.
09 corolla. Wife said it was hard to start this morning and when she got off work. it started fine right after she got home. i waited a few hours, after dinner and went out to start it and it takes the engine about 3 seconds to start.
Normally when I turn the key the engine cranks up and starts. today it cranks or turns over about 3 times before starting. and there's no error/engine lights. tested the battery, full charge. not sure what else to check.
We are in Houston TX, with about 95'F day temps, you could call it a cold start since the engine has been resting and cooling off. but not cold like freezing temp.
I've owned this vehicle for the past year. This 2009 Corolla XRS manual has a very annoying steering rattle which took me the whole year to finally breakdown and diagnose. There are many forums stating this rattle is associated with the intermediate shaft assembly #2. I did end up replacing this part 45260-02110, hoping this would fix the rattling or knocking issue. It did not, but smoothness the steering has improved. I removed the upper portion of the intermediate shaft to pinpoint the sound. Originally I believed the noise may have been coming through the bulkhead from the intermediate shaft #1 or steering rack. I checked under the boot and everything was snug. Then I rattled the steering wheel around and this what I found.
It seems the noise is coming from the pinion where the power steering motor meets the steering column. You can hear the knocking noise with settle steering wheel movements. As I move faster, the knock turns into a rattle at higher speeds most likely vibration from the road. At this time, I do not want to disassemble the whole column just to see if I can adjust the motor height (if possible).

I have a 2011 Toyota Corolla S 5 speed manual and after 15000 miles I noticed a ticking noise in my engine bay and goes away once I push down on the clutch, but once I get off the clutch the noise comes back. Is this a normal thing or should I be concern? I have 75000 miles on my car now, is it covered through the extended manufacturer warranty coverage of 120000 miles?
View 4 RepliesI have a 2009 toyota corolla le (japan made) 66,000 miles on it that is making a ticking sound from the passenger side of the engine toward the front. we have taken the car to both a dealership and independent shop and have been told 2 different things. dealership says alternator needs to be replaced (which really doesn't make sense to me because it is a newer car with only 66,000 miles on it) shop says ac compressor clutch needs to be replaced but actual compressor is fine. ( down side to this is for this year make and model they do not make just the clutch so no matter what we would have to replace the whole compressor) the ticking noise does quicken when car is accelerating and sometimes completely goes away when driving 50mph +. we did recently have the drive belt replaced as well, don't know if this could be related to the ticking sound. also when starting the car the belt does squeal a little but i am figuring that is because the belt is brand new?

I tried my stereo on another car it works. What I don't understand is why only stereo with radio only works but if i have cd or tape player with it don't.

second sound system! when i use my 6 speaker oem radio, the sound is automatically adjusted when going to max, meaning the bass goes down ect(with asl off) is there any way to prevent this? and i was thinking of going subs and 4channel amp, but i still want to use my steering wheel controls! is there any 2din(full facia) radio with ipod control/touch and steering wheel controls out there?and for speakers is there any problem switching out the tweeters?(for the rest i am quite good :P)
