I have a 2008 Elantra GLS and battery ran down. I hooked up a trickle charger via the cig lighter inside. Now the clock never goes off unless I unplug the trickle charger? What's up with that?
View 3 RepliesYesterday, I went to charge a friend's GPS in my 2008 Toyota Corolla. I discovered that a dime was stuck in the charging port (but why, by the way). I had to use a pen to carefully get the dime out, but in the process, I shorted out the car radio/CD player, clock, and the charging port. Everything else electrical works. How can I fix this problem?
View 1 RepliesI have a 2007 Elantra and I have been having problems with the clock light flickering intermittently. I took it to Hyundai and they replaced the clock unit and that hasn't fixed the problem. They said they have checked all the fuses and there isn't a problem with the fuses. What the problem might be? It is very annoying when driving, especially at night.
View 2 RepliesI recently realised my seat belt warning light didn light up even if I never fasten my seat belt. When I start engine, it will blink a few times, and then goes off. And then, even if I didn fasten my belt, it still wont light up?
View 1 RepliesI have a 2007 hyundai elantra gls (80,000miles) that shimmies at 12 and 40 mph. The steering wheel stays still but the rest of the car wobbles.
I've replaced the tires and the rims and had them rotated, balanced and hub rings put on.
I've also replaced the motor mounts. (This is probably unrelated but I also just had the serpentine belt, water pump, and all the other belts replaced as well.)
I can hit the gas and get through the wobbly speeds and it seems to be fine....but I drive around 40 mph most of the time!
I installed my OGS shifter yesterday and noticed that when I plug in the car the OGS shifter stays on while the car is charging. Once charging is complete it will turn off.
View 19 RepliesThe red battery light on my 2003 gx470 with 106k miles came on while starting the truck up today. I had the alternator tested by my mechanic and it was outputting 13.0v -13.1v which was low but not causing any loss of power. The battery on two years old and tested out fine. Nothing was flickering, no loss of electrical components, etc. It's the original alternator and I'm going on a 1000 mile round trip vacation this weekend for 10 days I so decided to swap out the alternator since if it was "going" I didn't want it going 500 miles from home. My mechanic does the swap and starts the truck up with no issues and no red light on. Lets it run for 15 minutes and turns off the truck. 20 minutes later they start the truck up to switch lifts so they could balance and rotate the tires and boom the light goes on again? Turns it off and on a few times...light stays on. After testing everything out My mechanic decides it must be a bad alternator or the regulator inside the alternator and gets a different one from a different manufacturer, a Duralast this time from AutoZone. Installs it and the red light comes on immediately. The alternator is putting out 14v.
View 10 RepliesSo I just recently got my 2004 Elantra back after 6 months of my dad working on it. The clutch and brakes have been replaced as well as 2 tie rods. The issue now, got it home last night turned it off, removed the key and noticed the radio(aftermarket, came with the car when I bought it) and the clock both stayed on. Called my dad, nothing electrical was touched. What can I do? Is it a fuse? A relay? It has 143xxx miles on it, if that matters
View 9 RepliesI recently had my oil changed. And when I was driving home noticed my clock had reset. I have a brand new battery. I set the clock back to the right time, then headed out of town the next day. When I went to turn off the interstate my blinker did not work at all. When I pulled into a station I saw neither one worked.
My 2006 Elantra is also suddenly using double the amount of gas. I took it to a place 2 days later when I got home. The turn signals decided to start working the second it went in the shop, yet hadn't worked 10 minutes before I got there, and they didn't know what the cause of the clock resetting itself would be, or the higher gas usage.
I did have somebody check to make sure my battery cables were tight. I am at a loss yet these problems all started at the exact same time. What I could have checked? My car ran great before this last oil change. Now I don't even go out of town because of it hogging gas.
My digital clock on the dash runs fast. Every month it gains 2 to 3 minutes compared with my cell phone and I have to adjust it.
View 23 RepliesOn my 2005 Elantra - my radio, dash board clock, dome light, and keyless entry stopped working all at the same time.
Fuse #25 that controls these features is burnt out. As i replace this fuse, it immediately sparks and blows the new fuse.
I know the first thing you all will say is to check my fuses and relays. I already have done every last thing related to that to try and figure out the problem. The only thing I can bring my mind to consider is that one of the relays located on the back of the interior fuse box, might be the problem. However I cannot get to that easily without tearing my car apart, which I do not want to do without truly knowing that is the root of my problem.
I had a collision guy (family friend) look at my car for free, knowing he had limited knowledge on electrical, he thinks that it is my ECM or ECU possibly.
Amongst the clock, radio, and keyless entry being out, my gauges spin around when I turn the car on, and my door chime also fails.
I truly don't think this is the case because I didn't think the ECU controlled the radio and lights, more so that it controls when the car shifts and such.
Does this look like a bulb may be burnt out?
It is dark between 5 o'clock on the speedo and 8 o'clock on the tach.
Where are the dash lights and what type are they?
A few days ago my charging system warning light came on in the middle of my trip home from work.
I popped the battery out and took it to Advanced (in my other car) and they tested the battery, it was fully charged and was in good condition. So I popped it back in my car and when I started the car I didn't get the warning light on my way back to Advanced.
They tested my battery again, along with my starter and charging system. Everything looked good, except one of the terminals on the battery was a little loose so we tightened it. Next time I started my car the light was back on.
Also, I looked at the belt and it didn't appear to be cracked, but I'm not completely sure how to verify if it's in good shape.
I am having a mysterious electrical problem with my 2004 Elantra. The radio and clock light come on over night running the battery down. It started last winter. I replaced the radio in the spring and the problem went away, so I thought the problem was solved.
This past week the temperature got very cold at night for the first time since I replaced the radio, and the problem happened again. The next morning I drove the car for a few miles, came home, turned the car off, and the radio and clock light turned off as they should. I drove the car several times during the day and everything worked ok. I checked the car at midnight, and everything was still ok. The next morning the radio and the clock light were on again. This has occurred again each day for the last 2 days.
So it appears the electrical problem has something to do with the car being cold over night. How to resolve this problem - besides moving to a warmer climate.
My wife just bought a 2008 Elantra. She says the AC was turning on and off on her way to work this morning. What to check?
View 6 RepliesI have a 2008 Elantra with 78k miles on it. Yesterday, to my dismay, I couldn't get any hot air out of my vent. I have never once had an issue with the hot or cold airflow before.
My coolant level is good and the temperature gauge is a-ok. The air coming in was cold yesterday and cool today; it appears it's just outdoor air temperature (as opposed to straight up cold) that I'm getting.
I believe my radiator is also overdue to get flushed...not sure whether or not that has anything to do w/this.
Is this likely the blend door actuator? I'm no car guy but I've been reading a little. Also....looks like this part might be 40-50. How much do you think I should be paying for labor if this is fixed?
I was going to check the oil so I popped the hood and as soon as i did that the horn started to honk and the 4 ways came on. didn't have the key in the ignition. it wouldn't start either while this was going on. had to take battery cable off. Rehooked after awhile and the same thing.

View 5 RepliesI have a 2008 Hyundai Elantra. When it's windy out the alarm keeps going off. Especially if the vehicle has been locked with the remote. If I manually open the vehicle and lock it manually the alarm is fine. I have had it to the dealer and they say the system is fine and that the sensors are fine.
View 4 RepliesI have a 2008 Elantra GLS, about 110,000 miles. Just got a timing belt and water pump change about 3,000 miles ago. Over the course of the last six months or so, she's started squealing a bit on cold starts. Originally it was only for a few seconds or so about once a month. However, since I returned from a 1500 mile road trip, the squealing has started happening on every cold start. Turning the wheel full tilt to either side does not seem to have any bearing on the noise, only when I rev the engine gently up past 2500rpms. What this could be?
