I have a 2008 Elantra SE. The anti theft alarm gets triggered for no reason on occasion. At first I thought it was only on rainy days, but now it happens in full sun as well.
I don't need the alarm, as nobody pays attention to them anyway. Is there a fuse I can remove to disable it?
I drive a 2009 Elantra SE. We have not been using our key fobs for years. We just prefer to open the car with a key and lock it using the auto door lock button in inside of vehicle when we exit. When we shut the door after locking it in this way, the hazards blink once.
We just moved to an area with more petty property crime. Does the above procedure enable the anti-theft alarm, or do you have to use the fob? If I recall, locking the car with the fob causes the hazards to also blink, but the horn also sounds if you press the fob twice.
I get these weird days when the Alarm system on the Phaeton would go off by itself. The car was locked and in my driveway when it decided to go crazy on me.

View 24 RepliesTwo days ago, my horn began honking for no reason...as if the anti theft alarm was going off. I was able to shut it off only by putting the key in its ignition. Last night, the possession by the devil was complete and at 10:30pm, my car began to honk (same as before) incessantly... and I wasn't able to turn it off. This happened about 5 time within 30 minutes. I tried to disconnect the battery but of course, the Prius designers placed the battery in a location that makes it impossible to disconnect. Why this horn malfunction is occurring?
View 5 RepliesThe factory installed passive anti theft alarm keeps going off without external cause. Went to dealership to have them do the scan and all alarms point to the right rear-door. They suggest replacing the latch. This same latch was replaced 13 months ago for same problem. They will not honor the now out of date 12 month replacement warranty. They said they have checked the wiring and all looks OK. Must be the latch. I only have 30,000 miles on the vehicle and this is a rarely used door, yet I have to replace the same latch again?? Can the door ajar module be replaced separately and would it be less expensive to do so?
View 14 RepliesI'm having an alarm issue that I didn't think much about until last night. Twice in the last three days I've come out to a completely dead battery because the alarm has been triggered. The first time it happen was at the gym and I thought maybe the car got bumped, I inspected it and found nothing out of place. Last night , I came out and the car was dead. This time the car wasn't around any other vehicles and was in a place that no one should have had to go by it. Something is a miss here and was wondering if any of you might have experienced anything similar? The first time it happen I was able to get into the vehicle using the key fob, last night I wasn't so lucky. I had to use a lock kit to get in so I could jump it. I had to do this because I usually separate my fob from the physical key so I don't have to carry them. Until this is resolved, I'll have to stop doing that.
One more thing, I noticed last night after getting the car jumped, I was able to drive home, park the car and when I went to set the alarm, my auto headlights would not shut off after hitting the "Lock" button several times on the fob. Every other time, hitting the lock button twice would always shut off the lights.

A couple times now the factory alarm will start going off by for no reason. This was confirmed by my neighbor, who was sitting outside when it started going off the last time with nobody around it. Also, when this happens, the alarm button the on key fob will not stop the alarm, only unlocking the car will stop it.
Also, after this happens, I can no longer set the alarm (pressing the lock button twice and hearing the car honk once) for usually at least a few hours if not a day. what happens is that i press the lock button and you hear the doors lock but if you keep hitting the lock button, the doors just keep locking, the car never honks.
For my '13 GLS, I leave my fob in the center dash box compartment, and lock the doors using the button on the door. Sometimes when I unlock the door w/my key, the alarm goes off. Why is that, and how can I prevent that w/out having to carry around my fob?

Try to start car and alarm is triggered and car will not start. I have fault codes like 00928, 01358. Is there away to disable the entire alarm so I can start it and get home.
View 1 RepliesOK- the truck is a early '96 B4000 4.0, 5 speed 4x4. The key could be pulled from the ignition switch in the "run" position (worn key/lock cyl.) I got in the habit of not using the key (never turned the switch to "lock", just "off"). No issues, been driving the truck all over with no key for some time. Now I can't find the key and alarm fob. No worries, I'll just replace the ignition lock/cyl. Done.
Now the alarm is triggered, and I can't stop it. Truck won't crank, either. I assume the no crank condition is the result of the anti-theft being active. I assumed that because I had been driving around with no key, that I did not have a "chipped" key, assuming the truck wouldn't run unless the "chipped" key was in the switch. Since it ran fine, the assumption was no chip. Now I'm not so sure.
What I would like to do is disable the anti-theft/alarm system totally. Pulling the fuse is no good b/c that kills the fuel supply. Is this possible, or do I scrap the truck? I've found 2 sources on the web that indicate that grounding the the green/purple wire that goes into the drivers door will disable the system.
I have a 2003 sliverado with a RDS radio. I had a bought another one from a person on ebay. I put it in and everything worked. the next day I went out to drive it and found the radio was lock up. Because of the anti theft on it. They did this to keep crooks from using the radio if they steal it. I read you have to have vin to unlock it without the scan tool. So I wanted to know how to use the old vin number to unlock it?

Yesterday everything was working great with my FOB key, I swapped plastic housing to one that is in better condition and then things went down hill. Both FOB's tested great for wireless transmitter. Old FOB no longer locks, unlocks or pops trunk. Car drives and turns over with master and valet keys properly (ruling out immobilizer I believe?)
I am trying to reset and program the FOB but my anti-theft system is not turning on with key- and that is critical to have on with what I have read here. Once I can get the red-light flashing and indicating anti-theft is on, I should be good to proceed.
Last night I turned key in car to on position and the alarm was going off, used the master key to pop the trunk open and that caused the alarm to cease.
Since then I can not get the anti-theft/alarm to activate at all. Currently if I have all my doors and windows closed along with the trunk, turning the key in door to the lock position it locks but does not activate the anti-theft -- no blinking red LED. Turning the key twice does not lock all doors either.
new to the r here, just bought 4954 on tuesday.anyways there are these tags that say warning shadow mark traceable anti theft...are these stock on the r or did my dealer have something installed and failed to mention it to me.
