In my 2010 Elantra, I have the 2 cup holder in the middle with the flap/lid cover that retracts into the side when opening. It seems a pen has gone down in that groove so now the lid does not open enough to get a drink into the holder. Any tips on getting the pen out from the bottom of the channel where the lid folds into??

My sunglasses holder on the roof next to the courtesy lights always pops open, especially on hot days.
I suspect the clip that is supposed to keep the holder closed is loose or very weak. I searched online and don't see a recall about this or anything.
I've a wired problem, my Elantra 2008 gas pedal is being stuck on the first push down only, when the car parked for more than 3 hours for example, the first press on the pedal i feel it very hard then it accept the pushing with a sound as if something is stuck and got released, after the first push it become very normal till i park it again.
I greased the pedal but noticed it may be the throttle cylinder at the engine where the gas wire is going around, i tried to accelerate the engine by turning this cylinder and it is being stuck at the first then is loosen, i tried it spray it with WD40 but it is the same.
Front brakes appear not to release all the way. At Times car does not accelerate . At times car vibrates at 60 MPh.
View 5 RepliesIt's pretty cold these day where I live (about 2 weeks of -20C and lower). I know that winter can affect gas mileage but right now, I'm averaging about 13l/km (18mpg). I believe this is not normal.
I just bought the car and I noticed that the engine temp looks low to me (see pic attached). Is it supposed to run this cool? I also went to the garage and he checked with a obd2 scanner and nothing was wrong. Could a stuck thermostat be the cause of my poor gas mileage?
Doing a rear brake job on my 2008 elantra. Left went fine. However, the right rotor is stuck on the parking brake. It is loose, but held on to the springs of the parking brake.
How do you back off the parking brake? Also, how do you remove the parking brake cable?
I have tried everything I know to fix the mode switch on the climate control. It's stuck in one position and I can't switch to floor or defrost. I've replaced the climate control panel and actuator and I STILL cannot get the modes to switch. I don't know what is is between the two causing it not to work. I've tried everything I know and I just can't seem to get anywhere. I only have a test light to see if voltages change and I can only get the voltage to change on one wire but none of the others.
View 1 RepliesI unlocked my 2010 Elantra yesterday afternoon with the fob. Opened the passenger front door. Turned on the ignition to Accessory for a while, then turned off, removed key, closed door, and locked with the fob. Sometime after dark, a neighbor alerted me that the car lights were on. I checked, all the doors were completely closed and the trunk was shut. The key fob would unlock/lock the car, but the lights would not go off (they were in the "automatic" position and normally work just as they should). Pushing the lock button twice would not beep the horn, either. So I turned the light switch completely off, and that did turn them off. Even the dome light would not go off until I put the switch in "off" position. By then, the battery was too drained to start the car so I put it on a charger for a while. This morning it started and all the remote functions seem to work as they should.
View 2 RepliesI drive a 2008 Elantra and had a mouse chew the wiring harness from the output speed sensor on the transmission to where the wires diverge from the Engine harness. It was still able to drive but the transmission stayed in third gear, the cruise set light stayed on and the check engine light came on.
I had noticed sluggish shifting before this happened and assumed the speed sensors needed replaced so I purchased the input and output sensors (42620-39200 & 42621-39200) and that is when I noticed the wires missing. I've checked the harness for other potential mouse foolery, took the old connector to the output sensor soldered wires to it and reconnected them to the engine harness. On a test drive after rewiring and replacing the sensors the car still stays in third and the set light is still on however the check engine light is not on anymore. At this point I'm clueless what to do next besides drive it to a dealer.
My auto transmission in my 2007 Elantra with 125,000 miles went into default mode, stuck in 3rd gear. No codes went off. I drove it home this way, but after sitting for 90 minutes, now it works fine. I've heard about the input and output sensors. What should I replace? I went to HMA service to get info on both sensors, but it wasn't detailed enough.
View 3 RepliesI came into my car, I was cleaning my cup holder and the bottem is MELTED! All I keep there is GUM and drinks. The melted plastic is the same dent as if I staked the gum box. What kind of cheap plasic is Lexus using? I can't believe its gotten THAT hot in the car. Heck, I would figure other things to melt first. To top it off, the gum box looks ok. No plastic smell from it either.
View 14 RepliesI have a Hyundai elantra 2002 that is stuck in second gear. I was driving it, I came to a stop sign so I put it in neutral and when I shifted into first i heard a pop. I started driving and when I shifted into second I noticed the shifter was really loose, when I tried shifting into third I couldn't.. it is like there is a brick wall. I can shift from 1st to 2nd but the shifter just moves up and down. Also if I let the clutch up it stalls the car. I was told that my car is stuck in second gear.

I talked to sirius and they told me to take to dealership because their reset wouldn't work. Haow to fix it?
View 9 RepliesI recently started getting transmission problems with my 2001 elantra.. the car would slam into second gear and the check engine light would come on and it get stuck in 3rd gear.. The codes I am getting are P0720, P0715, P1529. I searched and i found that most people that had this problem replaced the input and the output speed sensor and the problem is fixed.. so i went and i got two new sensors and replaced them i am still have the same exact problem... the car drives good for the first 5mins and then it would slam hard into gear, check engine light comes on the it get stuck in third gear...

codes- p0720 output speed sensor circuit malfunction, p0500 veh speed sensor a malfunction.
Recent fixes on my 2001 Hyundai Elantra.
A few months ago i had my speed sensor cleaned, and a power steering leak. No problem after that was fixed and cleaned the sensor. Soon after that my water pump went bad and i had that replaced along with 3 new belts. Just last week i had my front driver side replaced with a new wheel bearing and axle.
My Problem then and now.
My problem months ago, my car would be shifting into different gears as it pleased; while driving or sitting at a light i would feel it jump and it felt as if it was stuck into 2nd or 3rd gear as i was driving. My engine light would soon come on after this. To accelerate i feel as if i had to floor my pedal when the shifting or engine light came on. I looked up my codes and they are the same as they are now. I read about same problem and fixed it by just cleaning the speed sensor off. My friend and i did the same thing and it fixed those issues. My problem now is that i just had my axle and wheel bearing fixed (my car moves smoother and quiet) my engine light came on again, it had not been on since, i read the codes and they are my speed sensor same as before but my car has not been shifting as it was in the past. Would this be because the sensor needs to be cleaned again or replaced, or because of my new replacements on my wheel.

Replaced new clutch disc and new pressure plate.
Without turning on the engine, the clutch pedal seems to get harder to press, until it can't be pressed down anymore. The pedal can't be pressed down.
Clutch fork lever does not release.
A problem that has raised on my Elantra GT is in the hatchback, the trunk handle gets stuck in or out so when I try to open the trunk it wont, but if I push the handle in first and then open it then it opens, also I have to lock and open the car with the alarm remote several times before it opens. Now I know that the handle is bad and need to change it, the car is a 2002 and this happened on 2004 I told the dealer and refused to do anything about it unless paid for everything, They wanted like 300 to change a handle, i did not do it, I will buy a handle and do it my self, I just wanted to know if other people had run to this problem and if its hard to change the handle, the dealer said they needed to take the whole hatch apart, but as far as I can see its only 2 screws and the handle should come out. This is been a long time coming.
