I was cleaning my car today and when i rolled the rear windows down to wipe the top of them i noticed i could shift them horizontally with ease. I double checked with the front windows and they are sturdy. I was using rain-x wipes when the window moved. It's both of the rears. Is this a problem or is it a "self adjusting" feature?
View 13 Replies2010 Prius: During my first visit to dealership at 5000 mile service I told them to see what's wrong with my driver side rear view mirror why it is shaky. (It only shakes / vibrates left right NOT up down, and depending on the wind, road bumps have no affect) Obviously they could not duplicate it.
I called Toyota and Dealer wanted me to test-drive with a technician and show him the problem, which I did and technician agreed that there is a lot of wind induced shaking at the same time passenger side mirror is rock solid. They replaced the mirror with another mirror.
Now here is the problem, new one is also shaking. I am from SF Bay Area driving on 80, 780 and 680 near Fairfield (mostly windy)...
I'm sure that this is not normal, but I just want to know if any one else has this problem with their car. When the windows are down, they are loose in their tracks -- you can actually shift them forward and backward with your fingers. Also, if the windows are lowered when I shut the door, the windows flutter. The right rear window is so loose, that it creaks when I hit a bump even when the window is all the way up. The windows seal up just fine -- no wind noise or leaks of any sort.
In the link below you can see me shifting the windows forward and back. The right front window is least affected, right rear is the worst, and the two left windows seem about the same.
I got a 09 Elantra and my rear windows will not roll up.. unless I use the switches in the rear doors. So, from the front I can roll them down but not up. if i need to roll them back up I have to get out open the rear door and use the switch in that door.
I am hoping it is the switch.. but which one? the one in the front doors. or the ones in the rear doors?
I want to make my windows up automatically, how must I supposed to do ? because windows down is auto..

View 4 RepliesI got into my car this morning and looked down to notice that the dash trim is beginning to pop loose... I haven't tried to remove this trim before so I don't know how it happened.

The rear left window and front right windows do not roll down. I have replaced the master control assy. and door switches. I removed the panels and tested the motors with external voltage. +12 v rolls the window up, -12v rolls the window down. Tried the sw and windows only roll up. Master control did not work. Ohmed out wiring appeared to be fine.
After reading the manual it says that everything goes through a bcm, Body Control Module. The manual does not say where it is located. I'm staring to think the BCM or bad ground wire may be the problem. Cannot figure out where the negative voltage comes from.
This isn't a knock specifically on the Elantra.
It is a knock on all vehicles with electric windows.
Specifically on the Elantra though, is there any way to make the window up & down buttons work with no key in the ignition?
As much as I like power buttons for windows, I miss the crank windows when the key it out of the ignition.

View 15 RepliesMy 2013 has developed a rattle. The rear window visor (outside) on passenger side is loose - or loosening up... and rattles a lot when driving, which is very annoying.... Took a quick look to see how this thing is held into place, not quite sure what's best way to take it apart...
View 1 RepliesAfter not starting my car following several days of extreme cold, my battery died a couple of weeks ago, and after boosting the battery, I noticed a couple of electrical accessories (power windows, rear defrost, rear brake lights) are no longer working. I was told by a mechanic at the local Wal-Mart that it was possibly the main relay, which I replaced at the dealer, but that did not fix the issue. I've checked the individual fuses for these accessories, and all of them are OK. How to troubleshoot this?
View 7 Replies2013 Prius IV.... I just noticed that my right side rear bumper cover has a 1/4 inch gap between the bumper and the quarter panel. I think it's from me sitting on the bumper while tying up my shoes or something. When I apply downward pressure on the rear bumper, the gap widens. The left side is tighter, but does gap out when downward pressure is applied. In any case, the gap is annoying.

View 3 RepliesOk so my transmission feels loose, too much play between the coast and drive side of the gears. Makes enough noise now that my wife complained about it so I'm looking into taking it to the dealer. I pretty much expect them to pass this off and do nothing, but its getting worse especially in the last couple of months.
Noticed a lot of play in there gearbox? Can you hear the gears make noise as they shift from coast to drive side?
I just got back from Town and Country Toyota charlotte, NC. They did my oil change and tire rotation. I also told them the rear spoiler is loose and making noise over bumps, they ordered a new one under warranty. I also wanted a new driver side wiper blade, they also are ordering a new one under warranty. So so far they are doing a good job. I have been there one time before.
View 4 RepliesThis bad squeaking, loose rattling and (sometimes) banging noise from the left rear started happening about a couple weeks ago. I've removed all interior panels, even the exterior bumper thinking there was something loose and nothing. I suspect as a last resort it has to be the suspension despite the car having only 17k km.
What is strange is the rattle increases in sound volume and occurs more often the longer you drive and also if temperatures get colder.
In other words, if I have the car parked in my garage overnight (slightly above 0 C) and immediately drive next morning into sub-freezing temps and on bumpy roads, you don't hear it. But after 5-10 minutes of driving, you start to hear it and gets louder and more frequent.
Searched other threads and some have reported the shock as the problem for 2010/2011 models, but none had any sound or video to compare.

I have a 2011 Elantra GLS automatic and have experienced rear end hop when hitting bumps, potholes, manhole covers, etc. It is quite disturbing to feel the read end slide sideways especially at highway speeds. Today I noticed similar feeling when I drove on snow covered roads for first time. I took it in to dealer who agreed it was a concern when he drove it, but couldn't find anything out of spec.

I had a 2005 Elantra hatchback and when folding down the back seats the bottom part of the seat would first lift up and back so the rest of the seat would fold down nice and flat. I don't see that option with my 2012 Elantra..... That was a nice little feature on my 2005.
View 2 RepliesSo I tried removing my rear deck but was unsuccessful. I removed 4 "screws" when folding the seats then the ones inside the trunk but it didn't come off. Did I miss anything that is holding it down?
