Since I've had this car I randomly get a buzzing which I thought was coming from the centre console. It sometimes lasts 2 minutes, sometimes 15. Hunted it down last night and it sounds to be coming from the passenger side foot well. The only electrical component I can see up under there is whatever is in the photo.
View 9 RepliesI have a 2013 Elantra GLS. I use a USB stick to listen to music. Sometimes it would reset the center console/radio if I leave the USB stick in, but this time it didn't turn back on.
View 5 RepliesI just bought a used 2012 Elantra GLS with 24K miles. I tested almost every possible function of the car before I bought it however I didn't try out the 2 power outlets expecting them to both work on a car with only 24k miles.
Anyway, the center console outlet doesn't work. I'd like to check the fuse box first thing in the morning. I work night shift so I won't be able to get to it til then. Any other things I should look for?
I went to drive our Escape but when I pressed on the brake to switch it to drive, I heard a clicking sound coming from the center console, the brake pedal went all the way to the floor and there was a high pitched whining sound coming from the engine. I turn the car off and call up ADAC (Germany's road side assistance) and they come and find out part of a hose is missing from the engine and stick something on the end of it and the brakes worked fine. They did recommend I take it in to get it checked out but the mechanic here that speaks English doesn't have access to Ford parts. 2010 Ford Escape XLS 2.5L .....
View 5 RepliesMy 2012 Prius makes noise in cold days. After careful examination I found the noise comes from the rubbing between the joystick cover and the center console bridge cover. If I press the joystick cover with my fingers, the noise will be significantly reduced or even eliminated. So I think if I put a layer of soft material there, I may be able to eliminate the noise. How to remove the center console bridge cover? Either pictures or video will be great.
View 1 RepliesThere is a buzzing vibration in my car over rough roads and it seems to occur only when it's warmer than about 50 degrees. I know that may seem odd but I've been paying attention to it for about 3 weeks. It only happens when the road is rough e.g. has a lot of cracks in it or has a lot of granite in it. The sound is like a bee. Now that it's colder here I notice that I can't hear it on the same roads when it's 50 degrees or lower. It's hard to pinpoint where the sound is coming from too. I know someone posted that a clip was loose from when they had tinting done but it seems my case would be different -- like something (nut and bolt?) is expanding and contracting. I'm not sure I want he dealership to take the car apart trying to find it. I can live with it but it is irritating as I often drive with the radio off and the car is silent and solid otherwise.

This noise occurs only over small shock type bumps IE, train tracks that are not smooth, those reflectors in the road, and the metal plates over construction projects. Any bump that forces the suspension over a small vertical or near vertical drop or rise of about one inch.
In my driveway I have a storm grate about an inch lower than the surrounding pavement and it rattles over this every day. Now the fun part.
The noise is ONLY when I hit such a bump with the right side of the car. The left side rolls over the same bumps smoothly and quietly.
This noise is also only present over the small type bumps discussed earlier. My dealer has a rough road that they use to test suspension noises and the car rolls down it silently. The problem also doesn't manifest itself over speed bumps.
The noise is still present while applying the brakes on which makes me doubt its a caliper float issue.
The strut brace and lower control arm/bushings on the right side have been replaced by the dealer under warranty but they can not seem to get to the root of this problem as both these replacements have had no effect.
From inside the car it is very difficult to pinpoint where the noise is coming from but it almost seems like the center of from suspension.
My wife's Elentra has some center console lights out. A radio button (or two) is not lit and heat control button(s) as well. I don't remember specifics.. I'm going to check the fuse box when I get to it, but wanted to check here first. It seems like it's somewhat common problem. Fuse N25 is mentioned often.
Everything else is functioning, just the lights are out. It seems strange though that not entire section of controls is out, but part of one (radio) and part of other (heat). Does this sound like a fuse or maybe it's the bulbs. Or combination?
2013 Elantra GT. Right-hand power socket under center console is dead. Does not appear to be connected to fuse box? How to activate it when the ignition is switched on?
View 8 RepliesAfter almost 12,ooo miles, I'm starting to experience some kind of buzzing resonance that come through to the dash, console, and can feel it in the gas pedal. It's weird because it will happen when accelerating and decelerating too, but not it's not a constant occurrence. I wondering if the motor mounts are loose? The ICE runs great and the transmission seems to be operating as smoothly as ever. It's just odd that this started just recently.
View 1 RepliesAbout a week ago I noticed this weird noise that sounds like it's coming from inside of the center vents area/console.
The noise definitely only occurs when moving, or at least it seems that way. At idle there is no sound. The sound seems to get a little louder the faster I go.
It's kind of a "whirring" sound. It's not really loud and if someone that had never been in the car were driving they probably wouldn't even notice it. It almost sounds as if I have the heating/ac fan turned up high but I don't. The sound appears even if I have the heat/ac fan off.The heat/ac works fine.
It may have nothing to do with the heat/ac but I'm wondering if something could have got stuck in the vents from outside?
I have a 2012 Sonata GLS with 3300 miles on it. I have noticed that now that the temperature has dropped to below 60 degrees I have annoying dash rattle. It seems to be based on the rpm of the motor (1200-1500 rpm). So every time I take off from a stop sign or stop light I have this buzzing rattling coming from the center of the dash. It sounds like it is in the upper part behind the radio. The wife drove last night and I put my ear on the passenger side vent by the radio and I could hear the rattle. I am just trying to isolate the problem so when I go to the dealership I can give them some decent information. I thought the problem was the cowling on the bottom of the windshield. In the center of the window it had warped up. They replaced the cowling earlier this week and the problem is still there.

The center console in my 2010 Prius III is making a constant plasticy creaking noise that is driving me insane! :crazy:
Is this common in the 2010 Prius? I can temporarily stop the noise by pressing down on the console.
Theres a loud rattling noise coming from somewhere inside the center console, where the shift lever is, that's annoying as hell! Sounds like a metal ball bearing bouncing around against other metal pieces. I put my fingers down there and touched everything I could to try to stop the rattling but I couldn't. I did not remove the foam insulation.
View 4 RepliesI have a 2004 Yaris 4 door auto and when driving smoke started to come from the dash around the centre speedo console, and by the windscreen then from all around dash. Had to stop left it 15 mins started ok no more smoke but smells still. Its been 2 days since it happened and been ok. All electrics seem to work ok. It was not from engine bay the car has only done 15 000 miles.

View 1 RepliesMy 2007 Santa Fe Limited 3.3L with 102,000 miles started making a grinding/ticking noise yesterday. It's hard to tell but it sounds like its coming from directly under the center console. The noise is directly proportional to the speed and if I put my hand on the shift selector, I can feel the tick vibrations. It drives and shifts fine. What it could be? I'm hoping it's not a transmission issue. I'm thinking something with the AWD connection to the rear wheels.
View 1 RepliesI have a mk4 R32 74k miles on it ... I recently brought the car to the dealer and I will never do it again !!! Never had any problems until now .. I brought it in for the radio and they diagnose the problem so they ordered me a new radio that's all they looked at and it's the only time it ever went into the dealership .. Today I start the car and I have a ticking noise coming from behind the center console radio glovebox area and I can't figure it out ?? I thought it was vibration from the motor so I gave it a little gas in neutral nothing ?? I turned the radio on and off still have the noise ? Turned on an off the climate control still have the noise ?? Don't know what it is ? Friends say it sounds like a relay that's coming on and off ??
