Ford 6.7L Power Stroke Diesel :: 2011 F-350 Super Duty Sputters / Acts Like Stalling Occasionally

Sep 2, 2012

I have a 2011 F 350 super duty 6.7 diesel. Occasionally while driving I am getting a cackle from the engine and it sputters and sounds like and feels like it's going to stall out. There is no power. It only happens occasionally. It happens mostly when Im driving, not accelerating from a stop. Example would be driving along for a while then try to accelerate off a ramp on to interstate. I brought it in and of course the excuse is we can't get it to replicate what I discribed. They did adjust something in the transmission shifting pattern. I get irritated when I paid for a loaded f350 diesel lariat and it has issues like this.

Ford 6.0L Power Stroke Diesel :: When Starting Acts Like Truck Only Running On Half The Cylinders

I have a 04 6.0 and lost with it. I parked it the other night and in the morning I went to start it and it acts like it's only running on half the cylinders. I haven't had any issues till now so I replaced fuel filters and air cleaner is fresh but no change. It is not throwing a check engine light it isn't smoking excessively. I don't know where to check next.

Ford 6.0L Power Stroke Diesel :: On Cold Start Acts Like Runs Out Of Fuel And Dies

I've got a cold start problem. Turn it on, wait until glow plug light goes off, hit the starter and it fires right up. It acts like it runs out of fuel and dies. Hit the starter and it fires up and dies again. Third time it stays running. It's not a long crank either. 1-2 seconds at most. Fuel pressure is 59, HPOP immediately goes 1000+, everything looks good. It will start fine the rest of the day until it sits overnight. This is an early 04.

Ford 6.0L Power Stroke Diesel :: Sputters And Idles Rough When AC Off?

So I am relatively new to diesel engines! I have a f250 6.0L, that every now and again sputters and idles rough, when the ac is off? Yes I did say off. It's only done this twice, but when I turn the ac on it goes away and runs fantastic. Not sure what could cause this, and think it's a little weird that it's not consistent. Sometimes I run it without ac and it's fine, but this has happened twice now, so I thought it might be worth figuring out.

Ford 6.0L Power Stroke Diesel :: 2003 - Sputters When Going Uphill?

I am the original owner of a 2003 F250 Super Duty 6.0L. I have had all the required work that has ever needed to be done to it, including replacing the entire wiring harness and some work on the turbo this last September. Over the last few weeks I have noticed it sputtering when going between 45-55MPH up a hill. It only does this when I'm going at a steady speed. It starts fine and accelerates fine, but if I'm going a steady speed up a hill 45-55MPH I notice the sputtering. I've had almost all my work done by the dealership and just had it in last week for this, but they have told me there is nothing wrong, but knowing my truck, I know there is. What could be causing this? There are no check engine lights on or anything.

Ford 6.0L Power Stroke Diesel :: 2007 - Sputters In Same Location?

I've had a 2007 Coachman Freelander class C RV with E-450 for about 8 months now. We have been on 7 camping trips to the same location this summer, and the engine has sputtered in exactly the same place on 6 of these trips. It's pretty freaky, like the road has bad mojo there.

We have to come down a steep incline for about 2 miles, dropping about 500' vertical at about 6500' elevation. Then we drive for 2 miles on the flat before hitting a big mountain climb up to 7500'. About 30 seconds into the climb, the engine will sputter, and kick out smoke from the tailpipe. The first time I pulled over, and it idled fine. I took off and climbed the hill just fine. Now I just drive through the sputter, and it goes away after a minute.

So what's happening? Is the fuel tank sloshing crud around? I never get a water-in-fuel alarm, although the E450 doesn't have much of a message center. It doesn't happen on other sections of mountain road. This rig has about 38,000 miles, and is bone stock. I put new oil and fuel filters in before the summer. This rig is the same size as my old '82 RV E350 w/ 460, and boy is the 6.0L an improvement!

Ford 6.0L Power Stroke Diesel :: Runs And Starts Perfect But Under Medium To Hard Acceleration It Bucks / Sputters

Starts good cold and hot. Taking off like a grandpa on an evening drive don't notice a thing. Only codes that keep coming up are 2614 and 2617 which are cmp and ckp open curcuit codes and a software incompatibility code for FICM which is due to the updated software in the fresh FICM I installed. HPO pressures are good, has boost, idles smooth, revs nice when in park. New injectors (cause it was running rough especially cold before) and CMP and CKP (because of the above codes and didn't change)and ICP and IPR (last 2 installed because of HPO codes that are gone now with the IPR and ICP). Fuel pressure is 65psi (updated spring). When you step on it while driving it sputters and bucks like it's out of fuel, let off the throttle a bit and it purrs like a kitten. I'm a little stumped. I think it puffs a little white/blue smoke while it bucks.. not much tho. and it comes in little puffs. Took off filler cap and there is almost no blow by.

Ford 6.7L Power Stroke Diesel :: Power Door Lock Fuse Blowing Occasionally?

I purchased 2011 F250 King Ranch Edition about 3 months ago. I'm loving the truck and not had any issues until 3 weeks ago. I locked the truck as usual using the key Fob, and upon returning to the truck, I noticed the doors weren't locked. After some brief trouble shooting, I discovered the the fuse was blown that according to the manual controls just the power door locks. I thought it was strange that a new truck would be popping a fuse so I replaced it...a couple of days later it blew again. This time I was locking the truck with the door key pad. I took it to the dealership and they checked it over and said they replaced the fuse and cycled it numerous times but could not reproduce the problem. The told me that they even put a call in to the Ford engineers and they said check the key pad for water intrusion. The dealership told me they disassembled the key pad and found nothing wrong....lock and unlocked the door some more and the fuse would not blow. I picked the truck up four days ago and the fuse blew again last night. Everything else works...alarm sets and goes off if any of the doors are opened. The only thing that I can find that doesn't work when the fuse is blown is the remote start.

Ford Super Duty (1999-2016) :: 2000 F250 Engine Overheating / Low Power And Sputters

I just bought this truck for a pretty good price it has 225000 on it the engine was over heating. The guy put new rad, new water pump, new fan clutch, and a new heater core with thermostat. The truck still over heated so I pulled the thermostat to see what happens and the truck over heats even faster. All this happens while driving regardless of ac on or off. I got a motor and put a motor in it with all new pump and thermostat. I put new coolant in and flush radiator. I cut a hole in the cat to see if the cat was plugged for the truck seems to have low power and sputters. With in 1mile the truck over heated dumping all the coolant out of the system which the truck did as well before. Will the diesel rad work in this truck I have a diesel one I can put in since its a bigger rad?

Ford Super Duty (1999-2016) :: F250 5.4L - Intermittent Loss Of Power / Spits And Sputters

I have a 1999 f250 super duty with the 5.4 Triton motor with a 5 speed. I bought the truck a couple months ago, and it had a bad manifold leak (not surprised lol). but it ran fine just noisy. So i had a shop do new gaskets and bolts. Then my problems started.........

When you start up the truck she runs fine and some times drives fine. I will be driving along and its like some one hits a switch and i suddenly loose all power it spits and sputters and i have to down shift to make any kind of hill.

So I figures I had a misfire i got a light on for cylinder 5. So I decided to change all coils and plugs hoping that would clear things up...... well it didn't. It ran great for roughly 15 miles then it started to do the same thing again. I've changed air filter and fuel filter also.

When it starts sputtering i sometimes get a check engine light on and then it goes away. when the light is on the codes are:

P1151 A Heated Exhaust Oxygen (HO2S) sensor indicating lean at the end of a test is trying to correct for an over-rich condition. The test fails when the fuel control system no longer detects switching for a calibrated amount of time.

Read more at: [URL] ....

P1152 Lack of Upstream Heated Oxygen Sensor Switch Sensor Indicates Rich Bank 2

Read more: P1152 FORD Lack of Upstream Heated Oxygen Sensor Switch Sensor Indicates Rich Bank 2 | AutoCodes

Both codes come on together always. but it will go away when the sputtering clears up. I just checked fuel pressure its at 32psi at a idle.

Ford 6.0L Power Stroke Diesel :: FICM Has Been Dropping To 44v Occasionally

My ficm has been dropping to 44v occasionally so I have ordered a 270a alternator from Ed at ficm repair along with the complete battery cable kit. I also took ends advice and bought two new odyssey 65 series batteries. I went with bpd 6phase ficm though because I like the idea of the extra phases to share the load and back up the 4 primaries. I am also doing the blue spring upgrade while under the hood as well.

So my question is this.... My truck is bone stock no mod 53k mi. The bpd ficm can be set to 48,53 or 58 v. I do not see the need to do 58v but have seen a lot of guys doing the 53v option. What is the advantage of 53v? I know if you run 220 thru a 120v light bulb it will burn bright as hell for a little bit till it blows, is this the case with running a higher voltage ficm? Will it eventually wipe out injectors? Or even the ficm processor board? Should I just stay at 48v setting?

Ford 6.0L Power Stroke Diesel :: 2006 E450 Super Duty Keeps Dying

So recently my bus has been having issues shutting down on us. It started about 6 weeks ago. My band was on our way to a gig about 5 hours away from home. We got about 30 minutes outside of our destination and the bus just quit on us. After sitting for about 30 minutes, and switching some relays around, its fired back up and we made it to our destination. The ride back home the next day was pretty rough; it happened 3 more times...

We took it out again about 3 weeks ago for a trip about half the distance and the bus quit on us about 20 minutes into the journey. It took about an hour or so of sitting on the side of the highway before it started back up. Rather than try to risk making the trip, we turned around, dropped the bus off, and found alternative transportation...

I should probably add that the bus sat for about 3 or 4 months during the ridiculously harsh winter we had here this year, as we took the winter off from gigging. It was unplugged the entire time as it was stored in a parking lot across the street from my shop where I couldn't plug it in anywhere...

Ford 6.0L Power Stroke Diesel :: 2005 - Stalling When Hot Getting Low ICP

I've been having this problem for a while and seem not be able to get anywhere.. so at first my truck had a stalling when hot getting low icp which lead to a new hpop, couple injectors, dummy plugs, icp.

Ever since I got the new hpop, now when it gets to operating temps the low pressure gauge drops, and once you get on pedal it goes back up then eventually stalls. Then have to wait till cold.. the low pressure gauge will not drop till oil is warm. Does it sound like a low pressure pump?

It's a 2005 6.0 with 213,000

Ford 6.0L Power Stroke Diesel :: External Oil Leak And Stalling When Hot

I have a 2003 6.0 and I am havi g problems with it stalling once getting up to operating temps. I found a leak earlier after the engine stalled, it was leaking pretty good around a drop every 2 seconds but stops once the engine cools down some. I noticed the oil dripping from under the oil pan.

Can this be the cause of the engine stalling? Or just another problem? If it can be the cause where can the leak possibly be coming from?

Ford 6.0L Power Stroke Diesel :: Stalling Above Idle Under Load

My 6.0 stalls out when under load above idle intermittently. When it stalls, if I release the gas pedal and tap it, it usually catches again but not always. ICP is strong and doesn't seem to waiver when it stalls. Engine runs much better when oil comes up to about 180. Oil / water temp spread about 5 degrees.

Ford 6.0L Power Stroke Diesel :: Extreme Lag In Acceleration / Occasionally Doesn't Want To Start

I am noticing a extreme lag in acceleration. When taking off from a stop it lags really bad then acts like I floored it. My FMP is 48 sometimes dropping to 47.5. FLP is 13 sometimes dropping to 11.5 during starting. Occasionally it doesn't want to start, like its not getting fuel. New batteries 3 months ago. Also has blue spring. Its a 2005 thats never had anything done to the FICM, so its kind of old to begin with. I read in another thread that the FICM relay should be replaced occasionally, so may that could be contributing to some of my probs.

Both have happened without the trailer connected. Is it the OEM brake controller? Or possibly the sensor at the base of the Brake Master Cylinder?
