My 99' started o blow air only through the defrost vent today, and won't go through any of the other vents. I think this happens when your vacuum pump goes bad or there is a leak, correct? If so, how can I test these to figure out the problem.
View 2 RepliesMy 2006, King Ranch, 4x4, 6.0's air conditioner only blows from the defrost vent. I have done some research on here, but haven't seen anything that identifies as a common problem. I did however, notice that this problem is stemming from a vacuum issue.
View 10 RepliesMy 01 ac has worked just fine up until today. I got in this morning to leave the house and the air was only coming out of the defrost vents. I tried playing with the controls to get it to switch but couldn't. I assume its a vacuum leak, but where do I need to start looking?
View 14 RepliesI've got a couple different problems. The first one is that no matter what setting I have it on, air only blows out of the defrost vent.. Why this is happening? or is there already a thread about this? i saw a thread for this same problem, but it was for 2nd gen explorers.
The second problem I have is that there always seems to be air blowing from some where on the passenger side, unless i am accelerating. I can't seem to find where it is coming from but it makes a really annoying noise.
It is the 4.6L, AWD. not sure if that matters or not though.
I have a 2000 450, and the a/c keeps switching to defrost by itself. Any way to fix??

View 14 RepliesMy new to me 99 f350 has a great a/c but it only blows on high. Am I looking at a blower motor, resistor, or the fan switch? I'm grateful that it does blow on high being in SE TX and SW LA. If it didn't I couldn't ride in the old girl. A black truck with no a/c is not happening this time of year....
View 12 RepliesProud new owner of a 2001 7.3....today. The previous owner installed Warn standard hubs. I assume they work same as OEM with the exception that I have to get out and lock them, right? Also, when I test drove it, and after locking them, I engaged to 4x4 button and the 4x4 engaged and worked. However, when I disengaged my AC went to defrost just like my old 7.3. The AC eventually came back. Is this normal? I think it also went to defrost when I engaged. The AC does come back after a couple minutes after disengaging.
View 14 RepliesThe floor and defrost vents work. It just stays on defrost when you try to use the dash vents. The actuator seems to be working fine. I can watch the arm move through all the motions. and I cant find ANY vacuum leaks. Yes I looked at the hubs and under the hood. May be moving to alaska and kind of need my heater to work properly. . . .
View 5 RepliesI have Warn hubs that I have to lock in. All works good. A/C goes to defrost at first when cranking but then runs fine after a couple seconds. So, I was thinking that maybe my pump is running all the time. Who knows. I'm sure all my vacuum lines are dry rotted. What exactly is the need for it exactly and what's the best way to cap? Hoping to do it at the unit itself if possible.

View 7 RepliesMile marker hubs on my rig. V10. Plugged 2 ports on what I thought was the vacuum pump pass side middle of the fender. The lines coming out of what I thought was the vacuum pump were molded together going into two separate ports. I plugged both ports. What did I do wrong and what should I plug?

View 14 RepliesMy nav. when I put the air cond on auto and lower the temp so the air comes on, it blows out the vents on the front of the dash like it should and is cold. Then after about 30 seconds give or take, I hear a door deep inside the dash shut, or open, then the cold air only comes out the dash vents that are the defrosters for the windshield.
Then I can make it go back to the front vents again by pushing the button on the heater control to make the cold air come out the front vents again, but then it does the same thing again. Whats going to need to be replaced/repaired?
There is always something.... I just drove my girlfriend's new 2003 ranger edge home from the seller. Real nice truck. I noticed the heater selector doesn't change the air flow. It is on full blast for the defrosters, and is also trickling out of the floor and dash vents. No matter where you put the selector, thats the only place the air comes out.
The temp control seem to work OK, when you turn it on cold, you get cold air and visa versa. Even on AC and MAx AC... air out the defrosters. It's cold when you turn the temp control to cold.
I did some searching here and gather some info on checking the vac lines etc. Everything looks in place but one detail. The vac ball under the hood under the air box has 2 ports on the front end, and only one grey line going into it. The other port has what looks like a rubber boot and part of a very short vac line broken off it.
I looked, I cant find any loose vac lines. I'd like to know if this second port is suppose to have a second line on it, and where does it go? What color is it? Is this the reason the vent selector isnt working?
My husband and I have 3 Excursions, V10, 6.0, 7.3 and I have a 6.0 250 crewcab. 3 of the 4 now blow air or heat from just the defroster unless your going at a slow speed.

View 1 RepliesI have a 2000 f250 4x4 7.3 diesel. I had problems with my a/c and controls for sometime now. my a/c was blowing threw the defrost vent. I was told my blend door was bad. I bought a new blend door installed it,still doing the same thing. I was told to check my vacuum lines. I check them, they were bad. I replace my vacuum lines and my vac pump as well. that fixed my problem blowing threw the defrost vent. I can control my air flow from floor,dash vents and defrost vent. the problem I have, I not able to control my temperature when I turn my center from red to blue. It blows hot air and the air that is coming out of the vents isn't very strong at all.
