My explorer is stuck in 4wd and no 4wd light is on. How can I get it out. Coz its hard to drive?

After using the 4wd it's not going back into 2wd,the 4wd lo light is on and I dont hear the "click" when turning the switch. I've had the truck several years so I know how the 4wd works,is there a fuse or something else to try?

I am working on my grandmother's 2002 explorer and it is stuck in 4wd. I have unhooked the plug that goes to transfer case and also took out the 4wd fuses and still stuck in 4wd. From what I have read on here that the electromagnet inside tc usually fails and does not engage or if the control fails unhooking it will make it so the front drive shaft is disengaged. So since my problem is still there after that it has to be the tc itself and should I replace tc or put a new clutch in it. Also can i take the driveshaft out it looks like behind the coupling is a slipyoke so the coupling would fall out.

I just replaced the trans in my 02 sport trac and have no speedometer and ABS light is on now. I made sure all connections on trans were tight and I didn't mess with speedometer sensor seeing how it is on the rear diff on this truck. spent two weekends replacing this thing and am not at all happy with the results. By the way i did it all on my back. No vehicle lift or trans lift.

Ford - Explorer :: 2002 - False Low Oil Pressure Light?
I am working on my friend's '02 Explorer 4x4 with 4.6L engine with 122k on it, the dash is telling him that he has low oil pressure. When it first came on he was an hour away from home, what he told me he did was pull over and checked his oil level right away. He found that it was still full and since the engine wasn't making noises he resumed his trip home. During the drive home he said the dummy oil pressure gauge would read normal then drop all of a sudden then come back up again after so long.
When he got back home he changed the sending unit plus the oil and filter and his Explorer still reads as if it has no oil pressure. The needle does not read anymore, he noted to me when he pulled the filter off it looked like it did not have the normal amount of oil inside it. I did not get to see it so I can not verify that. When he starts it it kind of sounds like it has to fill the filter every time like a fresh oil change, rattles around for a second then smooths out and sounds good..
So is his oil pump to blame for the light being on or is there something wrong with the gauge in the cluster? I have not hooked a mechanical gauge up to where the sending unit threads into so I don't know how much pressure it actually has. If not the oil pump what could be the cause? My other friend and I looked at the oil that came out of the new filter and we thought we saw metal specs in the oil. Is it new engine city time? It has such low miles to need an engine.

I have a 2002 Explorer that had a whining rear, changed it out with a good rear out of my parts truck and now I have an ABS light on. It says something about input to the sensor and output from the sensor and left and right wheels. 4 Codes in all. I changed the speed sensor in the top of the rear to the one that was in this truck because the light wasn't on before and it still has this light.

I replaced my wheel bearings and wheels roughly 6 months ago, right after I noticed my wheels gittered when turning at low speeds. I assumed this was a power steering issue or the new tires. I have now learned from this forum that it is most likely stuck in 4x4 HIGH but has no indications on the dash. Just yesterday though the actual 4x4 High light started flashing in different variations. I get 6 flashes one time, then 8 flashes 2 minutes later on the dash and so on back and forth. When I stop I can put the truck in 4x4 high and the light stays on, same with 4x4 low. Then when I go back to 4x4 auto they go off but I still feel gittering while turning at low speeds. What would cause this? I see a lot of people replacing the Xfer case control module but no one seems to have the same problem.

02 limited explorer with 114k. The door ajar light keeps staying on and the dome light wont go off. This has happened 5 times now in 2 days. I open and close each door and hatch a couple times and it eventually goes away or I turn off vehicle and restart trying to clear message. How do I test and locate where the issue is coming from?

My 2002 explorer, 4.0l engine. My 4x4 light on the dash blinks 10 times and I've found that sometimes the 4 wheel drive locks in. When i pull into a parking space on dry road I can feel the front of the truck Jerking when trying to park. I hit the 4x4 auto button on the dash a couple of times and the 4 x 4 will disengage. While driving on dry road yesterday the 4x4 light started blinking and I felt the 4x4 slam in. The 4x4 light still blinks and I can't disengage the 4 x 4 this time. The truck has 140,000 miles on it. I'm thinking its the 4x4 control module but I'm not sure.

Have an 02 Explorer XLT that recently had its' ABS light intermittently come on. As well when the ABS light is off the brakes will pulsate when slowing.
Took to dealer they noted the following:
Rear sensor out .... ABS Control unit is out. Was shorted out due to Hydraulic Control Unit going out. Hydraulic control unit is obsolete at Ford.
Questions:
With all of this going on, how was I able to brake although not adequately?
Does the HCU control normal breaking too (without ABS)?
Immediately he says he would not put the money into it and wants to get me to someone to trade it in on another vehicle? While I understand the logic somewhat I do not being approached like this.
Can I get a better quote going to a mom and pop mechanic and getting second hand parts?
Is there a possibility to bypass/disconnect the ABS system and would it be recommended?
How to deal with? Vehicle is in great shape aside from mechanical issues creeping up and don't want to lay out the dough for a new vehicle.
Ford Fuel System :: 2002 Explorer - When Accelerate / Take Off From A Light It Hesitates
In the last month or so I'very had trouble with my 2002 Explorer having trouble accelerating. When I take off from a light it hesitates badly. It feels like it's got air in the tank. It does it every time I need to accelerate, including coming around turns. I'very put in fuel injector cleaner and it works fine for a little while, but then has the same issue. Yesterday morning it wouldn't turn over in the morning. I changed out the battery, but I had a similar issue of not turning over. It eventually did. I was wondering if the two might be related. Could it be a fuel pump or fuel pump relay?

Wife's truck- 2002 v8 limited explorer with 116k... Yesterday she calls and says the od light is flashing and the message center says check transmission. It's a 2002 explorer, 4.0, 5R55W trans, all was fine then O/D light starts flashing, so I limp it home. Trans isn't slipping, every gear works, it does kinda bang into 4th but is otherwise normal. Took it to auto zone to have the code read, but no codes found. Disconnected battery to see if it just needed a reset maybe, let it sit for a few hours, reconnect, OD light still flashes. Borrow a different OBD2 tester, still shows no codes, still drives the same just bangs into 4th. I've read up on the solenoid pack replacement, just kind hesitant as I feel like I'm guessing at the problem and might be throwing money away.

have 2002 Explorer with 4.6l that stalled at a stop light and upon restart, there was noticeable ticking and a sucking sound. The exhaust regularly sucks your hand against the pipe. Ticking is from all around the engine. Exhaust smells like rotten eggs.
Son was driving and we just got it back to house so I do not know much more than that. Where to start to diagnose.
