View 3 RepliesI had a problem with my door ajar light always being on, I was able to find out that it was in the sensor for the back glass and was able to fix it. But now when I cut the explorer off and remove the keys the dome light comes on instantly even if no doors are opened and the lock/unlock button on the driver door won't work. However if I manually turn off the dome light my lock/unlock button starts working properly. Also if I do not manually turn the light of with the roll switch the light will stay on until the computer kills the power to it about 10 mins later. What could cause this??

Background: On my '05 SD, I am getting a weird problem where the ignition switch chimes Key-In sometimes when there is no key. I can get this to go away by fidgeting with the key switch, but since I am going to be installing a remote start / security system, I need to fix this...
2003 Explorer Sport, 4X4, keyless entry. Bought the truck brand new but never had occasion to use the keys in the door and tailgate locks. Tried them this week and they did not work the locks. I first thought that the locks were frozen. Not the case. Stopped by the dealer and he suggested spraying WD40 in the locks. Didn't work. Got a new 'blank' cut by the dealer in case the key was worn, didn't work. What might be the issue? I was thinking that the wrong cylinders were put in the truck on the assembly line. I have a key fob remote and keyless entry but it would be nice if the key unlocked the doors in an emergency.
View 6 RepliesWhile not exactly driving me nuts it is a bit annoying, adds wear to painted metal surfaces and generally makes the truck less nice feeling. The front doors on my '11 F150 both have a very pronounced squeaking of the little rubber flap on the corner by the side mirrors. I'm not sure if they are misshapen or what but this has been happening for a long time now. Easily, if temporarily, cured by a shot of silicone spray but still. It MUST be an issues with those little rubber flaps, maybe replacement would actually solve this issue since the silicone only lasts until a good rain or wash...
View 1 RepliesInterior lights are sometimes staying on for 30 minutes after all doors have been closed. Thought it was the back hatch, but now seems to be random. I've cleaned the latches and lubricated with no luck. What else could be causing this?? A relay, computer.

My buddies 01 Ex will shut off the dome light after a short time with any or all the doors open. My 02 Ex will never shut the dome light out unless all doors are closed.
I guess I'm headed for the override switch but wanted to confirm before if I did that there wasn't an issue with something other component.
I have a 1998 grand prix the key left in the ignition buzzer keeps going off after I have taken the key out of the ignition and open the door to get out. Everything with the ignition works fine except for it telling me I have left the key in the ignition when I haven't.
View 4 RepliesJust got done installing the ignition switch on my 02 Malibu. Car starts up and runs fine, the only problem is that when I take the key out of the ignition. The car still thinks its in and continues to beep. I Checked and made sure that everything else in the car was off, and it still continues to beep and won't let me lock the car when i open the door because it believes the key is still in the ignition. I double checked and made sure all the wires were plugged in properly and still have the same issue. What is going on?
View 6 RepliesI was installing the footwell lights and now the headlights on buzzer does not work. And when I press the lock/unlock button on the key fob, the corolla actually locks and unlocks the car WHILE the doors are open! Also, the key in ignition buzzer doesn't work as well!
The seatbelt buzzer works though. I don't know what to do and I want those Features back!
What happened is that I was trying to zip tie the led strip on the metal bar under the steering wheel behind the panel with the tire reset switch. I guess the + & - terminals touched the metal thing and there was a little spark! The dome Lights work and so do the foot wells! But the buZZER doesn't!
07 f350 6.0 crew cab Truck thinks doors are closed when they're open and open when they're closed, just on the front 2 doors and keyless entry doesn't work and the key pad doesn't when you try to use the 2 right keys to lock the doors the back light will flick on and right back off, it'll work just fine to put the code in to lock the doors the back light on the keypad will stay lit up like it's supposed to.
The back lights only flicker when you push both 7-8 & 9-0 to lock the doors. When I bought the truck about 3weeks ago, the keyless entry worked but not the keypad so I kept pushing the buttons on the keypad till it started working but then the keyless hasn't worked since. Then the batteries died on the truck and I put new ones on and that's when I noticed the door sensors being backwards ..
Why my interior and outside cab light just started to stay on when doors are closed and dial is turned off.

View 7 RepliesOver the weekend I installed a LOC and amplifier w/sub to OEM stereo in 2013 Camry SE. System has touchscreen and navigation. Prior to installing I disconnected the battery so I wouldn't have any surprises. Well, I got one anyway. After everything was reassembled, the car now chimes when the driver side door is opened (haven't checked passenger door) even when the key is out of the ignition. This happens even after remotely unlocking the doors. It looks like there is an option to remove door chime when opening the door. I know this doesn't apply to when leaving keys in car.
View 1 RepliesI just picked up another 2003 XLT and I'll be taking it in for inspection on Monday. Hoping it will pass easily, but there are a couple issues I'd like to address before going in there.
First and foremost, the heat/AC system is stuck in defrost. It will turn off when the selector is moved to the OFF position, but any other position just makes the air blow out the top of the dash. I did do some research on this beforehand (the seller made me aware of it) and I first looked at the actuator. When moving between positions, the actuator does not move at all. It does appear to be connected to the vent door's arm but there's no movement when going around the dial. I do hear what seems to be a relay kick on or off as I go through the different modes, but that's it. Does this point more towards a vacuum issue?
Second, and less significant...the self-dimming rear view mirror doesn't dim. It doesn't even power on. Where might the connection go for that mirror? Would be handy to have for night driving, but not that big of a deal if it's not functioning.
I'm also going to have to get the tailpipe mounted...seems it came off at some point and the seller asked me today if I wanted it. Uh...yeah, I'm gonna need that to pass inspection!
I am liking it so far. Runs well, rides well...I will be enjoying this one as well.
Have a '93 Aerostar that had something roll up against inside sliding side door and must have nudged it out of alignment. Broke off outside door handle, took off inside panel and tried prying, pushing, kicking and pulling rods, handle, linkage and anything I could get at. Any way to get it open, so I can re-align the catch mechanism??? I have tried everything I could to "muscle it" open....
View 14 RepliesI am thinking of purchasing a 2003 Ford Explorer XLT 4x4 as my winter vehicle. The car only has 92,000 miles on it. I test drove it, and it seems to run great! The only issue (visibly) with the car is that the rear drivers side door is stuck. There is a dent below the door handle, and the door will not open from the inside of the car, or from the outside. The dent does not look major, and it seems to me that if I can get the door open, I could repair the latch/locking mechanism.
I don't want to buy the car if the only way to repair the door is to spend a ton of money at a body shop. Below are the pictures of the outside of the door. Hopefully the image links work.
I think it is the locking mechanism that is broken. The dent isn't causing the door to be stuck. The power door locks work, and I can manually lock/unlock the rear door. However, even when unlocked, the door will not open from inside or outside the vehicle. It's as though the door is "stuck" because the lock doesn't disengage.
My dome light stays on and green when my doors are closed and the door button is pressed. They light up bright white and normal in use but don't completely turned off unless I unpress the door button...
View 3 RepliesI have a 2003 2.4L 5 speed manual Santa Fe. I was parking my vehicle and removed my key as usual and realized that the car was still running. I put it into reverse rolled back and back into 1st to roll forward just to make sure I wasn't dreaming. I ended up pulling the fuel pump fuse and disconnecting the battery to turn it off.
When I replaced the fuse and reconnected the battery I was able to bump start the vehicle without the key in the car and drive it all the way home with no problem. I took apart all the plastic pieces around the Ignition and attempted to remove the cylinder but was unable to locate any sort of small button or pin to push on to remove it. Where is the release button?
What are my options here? Do I replace the cylinder first or get a new key, or is there something else that I should check first before I take it in.
I recently purchased a 2009 XLE V6 and love it! I've also owned a 2008 Corolla S and 1994 Camry SE V6.
I do have a question however. In the 2009, both front doors make a very loud clunk when closed as if a very large piece has broken off on the inside.
