01 F150. Cranks but no start, will fire with starter fluid spray. Theft light fast flash, Check engine light on. Only have one key and don't know what the kid that had owned has done.
View 5 RepliesMy 2000 Explorer overheated and I had water pump and intake manifold replaced.. then it had a freeze plug rust out and its replaced, I'm holding water.. but now it just wont start.. we've tried everything from changing fuel injectors, fuel delivery unit on intake, now the fuel pump is changed.. still wont start and the theft light is flashing fast.. my dad changed computers while I was out of town,, is it the theft device or does the computer need coded for this explorer?? we have taken negative off battery but nothing.. And if I change the motor will that work or still not run because of theft light or computer??
View 3 RepliesMy alarm and lights started going off one night. By the time I got to it, everything stopped. When I tried to start the next morning, I got nothing. After several tries, horn and lights started again. The only way to stop it was to disconnect battery.
One person told me that it was the key or the ignition not recognizing the key. I was then told that my truck, 97 f150, had no chip in the key so the problem was the computer.
I replaced my computer with a refurbished one. Once I hooked up the battery, the horn was still going, lights flashing and theft light still blinking. Also, not sure if its related, but when I try to use the key in the passenger door it turns, but there is very little resistance and the door does not unlock.

How to reset the Anti Theft on my explorer? The light is flashing fast and the engine won't start. Without the anti theft being reset the truck won't start. Been checking around to find an answer but can't find one...
View 7 RepliesLeft the truck sitting for a couple of months while working out of town. I bought this truck used with only 1 key. We rebuilt the engine and had noise issues so we don't want to drive it much until this is resolved. I went out to start the truck to move it and it would not start. It had cranked right up the week before. Now it just spins over and the theft light blinks rapidly. I've check all the door locks.
When I called a Ford dealership all the service guy would tell me is that it's going to have a new key made and I have to have the title on the truck to get it done. AND, I have to have the truck towed to a dealership to fix the problem of it not starting... The battery drained down so I took it out and charged it... only thing I can possibly think of is a low battery or maybe somebody tried to steal it while I was out of town and messed up something.
My 2001 f150 is not starting up. The anti theft light flashes and then eventually slows down and flashes one time, pauses and then flashes two more times. The odometer still shows my mileage as I know some people with this issue just get dashes. I know there are passive anti theft codes that can indicate what is wrong but cant find a chart with any info for all the codes. I'm going to assume my pats transceiver module is shot. Or maybe the key simply needs to be reprogrammed? I checked fuses, relays, etc and didn't see any that were blown. What could be causing it? Or maybe there's a relay I forgot to check out.
View 6 Repliesfirst thing i noticed was trying to start it the theft light was flashing fast but wasnt cranking. Heard a relay click a bunch of times when going on and off. I'v tried to testing fuses and relays all seem good. Battery is brand new and working. Nothing works, no lights, wont unlock from remote. moving soon and we need to get this thing running. 6.8 gas excursion....

View 7 RepliesI did the power door fix, wrapping the door actuator motor 'resistor' in foil, and all was good. This morning I started the truck to move it, all fine, then pulled the door panel off to readjust the window guide in the door as windows were binding. After adjustment I went to turn on the ignition to test the window and the Theft light is on, and the truck won't start! It's a1999 F150, 5.4L.
1. The power comes on when I turn the key to ON, then when I turn the key to start the truck I hear nothing, no clicking, and the power goes off.
2. After leaving the key in the On position for 45 seconds, the Theft light blinks rapidly, the odometer is all dashes, the RPM and Speedometer gauges swing to max, then back to 0.
3. When turning the key to start the truck, there's a 1 click sound (solenoid?), then all power goes off on the instrument panel, no cranking.
What might have gone wrong here? Could the wrapping of the 'resistor' in foil in the door actuator have caused an electrical short? [URL] .....

4. When I turn the power back on to ON and push the buttons for the windows, the power seems to cycle On / Off in 2 second intervals, as the window goes down a bit, then stops, then goes down a bit, stops etc. and the lights on the instrument panel dim / go on / dim in the same cycle.
I have a 2000 3.0 manual tranny, the motor went in the truck months ago. I put a new motor in it but that took me many months to do. Now I just finished up putting it all back together and now it wont turn over, when the ignition is on the theft light flashes fast. could there be a reset procedure at all? i had the battery disconnected for months.
View 2 Repliesi have a 99 f150 with a 4.6 that will not start. it has sat for a while now. when i go to turn the key to turn it on it cranks and cranks and cranks but wont start. the theft light blinks like crazy and the odometer reads dashes. There is also a relay which i do believe is the pcm relay that clicks like crazy. when the relay clicks and the key is first turned to the on position the fuel pump will turn on and off as the relay clicks.
We tried putting a scan tool to it to try to pull a code and the scan tool wont connect. I do believe its the pats system kicking, but i also think its related to this relay clicking like a mother, maybe a bad connection in the junction or something. But I am not really sure how to try to start and find the problem. i have also tried replacing the relay that clicks and the new relay does the same thing.
I have a 2000 f150 with 200k miles. I have no spark and no gas at the fuel rail Schrader valve. I have replaced the shaft pos sensor, no start. I have checked the fuses and the relays. I have crawled under truck and listen for the fuel pump to turn on while someone turned the key to on and heard nothing. I have 2 keys and while turning the key to on and start, the THEFT lite flashes. I have checked the impact sensor on the passing sick panel, it hasn't been tripped.
View 5 RepliesI recently changed the heater core on my 99 F-150 which meant i had to remove the dash. I got everything back together turned the key to start it and nothing it wouldn't start it wont even turn over. All the electronics come on like normal it just wont start. I have chased every wire every connection into madness. It has an aftermarket remote start someone said that would have bypassed the PATS but i dont know about that the theft light just started blinking.

View 6 RepliesI have an intermittent security system issue. I sometimes get a dotted line in odometer and rapidly flashing theft light.
Crank no start. After a time, the theft light flashes a code of 1 then 4. Research gives me the result that PCM did not power up.
Have pulled gauges. Fixed known cold solder joint issue. Checked all connectors and reinstalled. Truck starts fine about 7/10 tries.
I have replaced battery terminals. Removed cleaned and replaced all firewall grounds. Checked harness connection blocks and PCM connector. Made sure all under hood fuses and relays working.
Currently sitting in a parking lot waiting for it to decide to start again. Only one chipped key. Where to look next? 1999 F150 xlt 6 cylinder.
I have a 2001 F150 Supercrew Lariat. About a month ago I stopped to fill up with gas and afterwards it would crank but not start. After a few tries the engine would no longer turn over. My battery was 7 years old so I replaced it and the problem went away for about 5 days. Then the same thing, crank but no start. I checked all the fuses & called the local Ford dealer.
After talking with the parts dept. I tried hitting the panic button then the truck started. After talking to parts again I replaced the PATS transceiver. After 3 weeks with no issues the problem came back. This time I locked the doors with the keyless entry remote then unlocked them & the truck started. So I'm wondering what is my problem. Could it be the PATS module or something with the keyless entry module or some other issue.

View 8 RepliesAbout a month ago, my 2001 f150 supercrew (4x4 5.4L) didn't want to start one morning. This was after a very cold night (15 degree temps). It sounded like it had plenty of juice in the battery (cranked good), just wouldn't start. Later in the day, after it warmed up, still no start. I dug thru here, and someone recommended disconnecting the positive battery cable for a minute then retrying. I did it, and it worked. All was good.
About a week ago, no start in the morning again. Tried the positive cable disconnect, no luck. After several hours, it just seemed to randomly start, and all was well again.
Today, truck started right up in the morning, but later in the afternoon (warm winter day 45 degrees) no start. Tried the positive cable disconnect, no luck. After screwing with the truck for about an hour, I decided to put the fuel pressure gauge on the rail. NO fuel pressure.
Is fuel pressure associated with the PATS, or is this a straight up fuel system problem?
Additional info: My gas tank fell out this summer, (recall on those tank straps), and I had a new tank, pump, straps and lines installed. I had a no crank, no start issue this summer, but that turned out to be the transmission not registering in park. I assume the two issues are unrelated.

I did notice that the theft light is not flashing this time. Truck acts as if its not in park. I have wiggled the shifter, and even tried to start it in neutral with no luck. Im really thinking that it has something to do with the anti theft/PATS system.
01 supercrew 4.6. Have had intermittent no start. The first few times it did start with a jump. Cranks fine but I thought the battery was weak. Replaced battery, same issue. 40 psi gas pressure at the fuel rail with analog gage. Theft light blinks with battery inserted. Theft light not illuminated while cranking. Battery light flashes while cranking. Battery is brand-new and charged. Opened and closed inertia switch several times to check.
