Having older 5.4 truck tried to swap in a newer 5.4 2v from a E- series? The vans never got the 3v engine. I have a 2001 5.4 w/150000 miles, and I have a line on a 2008 5.4 2v from a E-350 with only 30,000 miles. Any issues/problems with the swap?

No check engine codes...checked for vacuum leaks...And has rough idle.
Is there a reason it might have rough idle aside from blown motor? The mechanic was going to take it to get computer reflashed but not trying to throw money down the drain...

View 3 RepliesI replaced my 7AFE engine in my Celica 1997 1.8 with another 7AFE engine. The replacement engine had a different wiring harness, so I kept my original wiring harness.
After the swap, I started the engine and it stopped by itself after about 30-60 seconds.
Now it wont start. I have fuel, but no spark. I have tried three different distributors.
I have tried to read the fault codes, with connecting TE1 and E1, but no engine light lights up in the dash.
Did the swap and all works good except the boost is often at 3psI then sometimes it works good. Used the 03 harness. So did I need to change a wire or sensor or use 03 pcm?? I was told maf sensor might cause issues but no codes for it.
View 10 RepliesWe put in a used engine (2003 Accord 3.0L V6) from a Junkyard over the weekend, and now it won't start. It'll turn over and fire on a couple cylinders, but not enough to start. Doesn't seem to matter if spray a little starting fluid in the Throttle body while trying to start it. It sounds normal while turning over, put in a new timing belt while it was out, and turned it over by hand 6 times to verify correct install before reassembling.

Ive got a headunit that will do it but I dont like how any of the aftermarket one really look and I dont like most of the locations to mount or the angle they mount at. So my question is will a tailgate handle from say a 2010 that has the factory hole for a backup camera fit in the spot of my 2001 tailgate handle? I have to replace the handle anyways since it broke this past weekend, thought Id add the camera while I was at it if I can get it to work like I want.
View 7 RepliesI have found a 97 explorer 4x4 with a v6 and auto trans priced really cheap. It has something called control track on it. Everything is in real good shape except the trans. It only works in reverse. Is there a common failure on these trans that might cause this ? from what Ive read this is a awd set up. that's is 4wd -all the time. If the trans is a major repair I would rather do away with the awd and convert to a simpler 2wd. Would such a swap be advisable ? I m wondering about wiring harnesses, sensors, cars computer, etc.
