I used my A/C on my 04 f 150 for the first time this year today, and it seems cold but not really blowing out of the vents strong. The blower sounds like its blowing at different speeds but not coming out of the vents much different at each speed. What could be causing this, would the cabin air filter cause this???
View 10 Replies2008 F150 Super crew 5.4 v8, bone stock. The truck was acting up with a rough idle and slight miss when in gear at a stop 2 weeks ago, loss of power going uphill. Changed fuel filter and filled up with premium and a can of sea foam. The truck straightened up after that, so I thought. Last Friday it dies in the road, cranks, but no fire.
Has to be the engine, had it towed to the local dealer and they get to look at it Monday afternoon, said the transmission fuse was blown and it keeps blowing new ones, it's in the transmission wiring. I am used to older trucks and was blown away transmission wiring will shut the truck down. I would think the wiring harness to the transmission would be simple enough to check out, can the wiring or solenoids in the tranny cause this?
I'm having issues with my a/c blowing randomly warm air. At idle (stop lights, heavy traffic) the cold air will kick off but the fan will remain constant. Once I'm back up to full speed, the cold air will come back. It also works if I turn the a/c and fan off for a few minutes and turn it back when I'm at highway speed. I've recharged it and when it blows cold it will freeze me out. I'm thinking its a possible compressor issue?
View 6 RepliesI own a 2004 F150 Screw Lariat and the fuse # 41 keep blowing. This fuse goes to the cigar lighter and the Diagnostic connector power. As soon as I put the fuse in, it sparks and blows. I have even tried different sizes.
View 2 RepliesWill the computer in a 2007 shut down the AC compressor in an overheating scenario because it would be considered non essential? Yesterday on my way home from work my AC quit blowing cold. I just had the compressor changed a couple of months ago so my first though was bad compressor. Then I noticed the temp gauge start to climb. The truck was over heating. There was a hole in the radiator. Now that the overheating problem is fixed the AC is again blowing cold. I just would like to know if I may be starting g to have issues with the compressor again or if it's natural for it to shut the compressor off because of overheating of the motor.

View 5 RepliesMy daughter's 2004 F150 has a horn problem. She used it the other day and it would not stop blowing. Someone unplugged it for her. When I checked it out and re-plugged it in it still continues to blow. Question is where do I begin. Does this have a horn relay? Do I have to remove the air bag to access the connections under the pad? I own a 1985 F150 and mine is much simpler.
View 9 RepliesHere is my problem: A/C not blowing cold air, blower motor working fine, checked all relevant fuses for A/C and R202 relay under the hood. Everything is fine here. Next, low pressure switch, jumped, clutch does not engage. Next removed relay R202 (clutch relay) measured voltages (at female sockets) where pins 1 and 3 would go, voltage OK. Jumped where pins 3 and 5 would go (bypass to see if clutch engages) and it does. Appears that the pressure switches check out OK (low pressure and A/C cycling switch - although this one not sure). CarMD unit was used as well, and no codes generated so perhaps PCM is working OK? I'm stumped, as a loss of GND by PCM or perhaps a corroded or open wire issue??
Also, possible the A/C switch on the HVAC control could be bad, but the light comes on, (doesn't mean switch is good necessarily). The rest of that unit works fine, control ***** that is, fan speed adjusts properly, air flow looks good. It appears this is an electrical problem where the clutch is not getting juice but I don't know the source of the problem. However, I also noticed that when the clutch/compressor was running (temporarily as described above) cold air still didn't come out. This, I assume, would mean I would need to add refrigerant or re-charge the A/C AFTER I get the clutch to engage electrically. 2004 F-150 5.4L ....
My AC blows hot air, like heater hot, but the defrost on cold blows cold air. At first the AC would cut out at low rpm's (stop sign or red light) and cut back on, now its nothing. But the defrost blowing cold, enough to fog up the windshield, tells me its not the compressor or freon.
View 2 RepliesI have a 1998 f150 4.6 that has a problem with the heating system. It's blowing out a little warm, but "far" from what it should be. ( on a scale from 1-10, I'd rate it about a 3) I am puzzled because I flushed the radiator, changed the thermostat, and there a no signs of heater core leaks inside,hose leaks on firewall, or radiator/water smell present. I don't know if this has anything to do with it, but I did notice the top radiator hose was hot, but not the bottom. I don't know what else to look for.
View 5 RepliesI have A '06 f 150 4x4 with codes p303 and 307. I have changed plugs, coils, and injectors on all cylinders. Still nothing. It runs rough for a while and clears out for a mile or so and back to running bad. When it stumbles the a/c quits blowing cold and the truck shakes like crazy. The check engine light is on and blinks when it stumbles. Tired of just having parts changed. What else could it be?
View 6 RepliesAs the title states I have a 2001 f250 with the 5.4 4x4 and lately the auto headlight / overdrive fuse keeps blowing. Both seem to function just fine but a couple of days later the fuse will be blown. I am not functioning the OD button when it blows so I'm guessing its something with the headlights. What else does that fuse protect?
View 2 RepliesMy 2006 F150 was purchased by me in early 2009 with about 28,000 miles on it. It's an XLT crew cab 4X4 with the 5.4. Stock except for a leveling kit and an aftermarket head unit. It currently has about 59,000 miles and has been babied since I purchased it. About 3 years ago I started noting some issues:
A. Oil pressure dummy gauge is all over the place. Some times it will show no oil pressure. Other times it is all the way to the highest mark. Other times the needle has gone 180 degrees past where normal is and is actualy pointing straight down towards the floor.
B. Recently my alternator dummy gauge has started doing the same thing as my oil pressure gauge.
C. The backlight behind my odometer works intermittently, but mostly not at all.
D. My dome light will flicker when first turned on. It doesn't matter which door is opened or if the override switch it turned on. It takes several seconds to come on and will flicker like there is a poor connection somewhere, but stays on once its on.
E. Blower fan will occasionally stop blowing. Once the climate control switch is turned to off, then back to on it resumes working. This doesn't happen often, but does occasionally.
Fortunately, the truck has not left me stranded and I want to keep it that way. We are getting ready to sale my wife's Toyota and this will become her daily driver. I want to take care of any issues before she starts driving it. Are these all separate issues or is there one common issue which could be causing them all?
My A/C clutch fuse (#46) keeps blowing when the car is started but a/c is not on. Checked relay, it's ok. Unplugged compressor but the fuse still blows. Fan works, heat works, but no cold air.

I have the listed truck in the heading, my #9 fuse which is for the interior lighting, lighted running boards and it is a 15a fuse, keeps blowing as soon as I touch the fuse to the fuse box to replace it. I have look at all the map lights and interior lights and can not find any thing out of the ordinary, all of these light were working fine, also my cruise control and the back up sensors stopped working and they are not on the same fuse and the other components that are on the circuit with the crule and back sensors still work, I know that this is a lot of different things but hate chasing electrical ghosts...
View 3 RepliesWhen I turn on my air conditioner it just blows air, not cold air just air. If I turn it to heat it also just blows air, not warm air, just air. The fan settings all work fine but the air coming out never changes temperature. By the way, If I bypass the compressor clutch relay with a paper clip, the AC will kick in. I refilled the coolant in the AC system too but it won't engage without bypassing the relay. Plus, the heater is not "kicking in" either. I did recently install a new wiper motor but I am not sure if that may have contributed to the air issue that is happening now.
View 7 Replies2008 F250 Lariat ... A/C is blowing real weak in all modes and temperatures. Did some reading and found that the evaporator and heater core could be clogged. I am just going to go ahead and assume taking the dash out of the truck and replacing both heater core and evap core would be the best fix. On to my question.. Where are the main mounting points for the dash?
View 2 Replies2004 Foed Freestar, the A/C has started blowing less than cool air in the past sveveral days. I'm assuming its low on refrg. but how does one check by visual inspection? If it is low will a simple re-charge kit w/guage and super dupper leak sealant do the trick? I saw a kit at Advance Autoparts for manufactured by Interdynamics. It had a guage w/trigger release for can content and three 12oz. cans of R134a. Will this kind of kit work?
View 6 RepliesI was driving from home to work the other day and it was 6 degrees out. My heat was working good and everything was fine and then all of a sudden the passenger side started blowing cool air. Not cold not warm. Driver side was still hot. It is a lariat and has dual temp zones. Everything I read everyone says blender doors but what would make it stop working out of no where when everything was fine. Occasionally when I start my truck and turn the heat on it makes a popping noise under the dash when the blower kicks on. But it has done this since I owned it an never had an issue. It's 25 below today and I would really love to have completely functional heat. It's an 2008 f350.
View 14 RepliesI have a 2008 Toyota Rav4 all wheel drive that has 80,000 miles on it. It's been having a lot of problems lately, namely the water pump. I got it replaced at our local mechanic's about 3 weeks ago and all was fine until I tried to turn on the heat last night. Only cold air blew out and then came on intermittently and then just stopped again. The fan works fine, it's just not blowing hot air. Not sure if this is related to the water pump being replaced? Do I need to flush the heater core? There is no leakage. I am really getting annoyed with all the issues the car has been having lately and don't want to spend a lot more money to fix it at this point. How much would it be to replace the heater core?
View 7 RepliesJust bought a 04' F250, new head studs and gaskets. Put a tranny temp sensor in and replaced bad thermostat. My coolant res is full and temp is bout 185 (it's 10* outside). My heater is blowing out cold air, I'm assuming there's air in the system.
