Either running A/C or heat.. air only blows on the '2' and '4' setting.. so I have middle of the road or WOT when it comes to the amount of air. On the '1' setting nothing comes out and '3' setting is the exact same at the '2' setting. What is going on with this.
View 3 RepliesMy brother-in-law has a 97 F-150 with 4.6L that has no heat in the cab (blows cold air no matter what setting at HVAC controller). Heater core was replaced one year ago and T-stat was replaced last night. Coolant level is full and the heater hoses are BOTH hot so I believe warm coolant is flowing through the heater core. I am thinking that the HVAC controller may be at fault or maybe the mixing door in the HVAC plenum is malfunctioning. I have 97 rangers that had a broken hinge pin for the mixing door inside the plenum (a common problem with these trucks), maybe this is the same issue (I don't know). I am taking the whole dash out to see what the trouble is.

View 3 RepliesI have a 2002 Ford Taurus which I bought in the Winter and didn't check the air conditioner. It only blows hot air on any setting, some settings blow more hot air than others. I will have to pay to remove the dash to find out. Here's the weird part, last summer the coolant was a little low and I was stuck in a drive thru line. I watched the temperature go up until, lo and behold, the air conditioner kicked in and blew frigid air! It came on and worked twice more that day. I filled up the coolant and it hasn't worked since.
View 5 RepliesI've noticed today on my Camry that no matter what I set the air flow selector to on my heater, air only blows on the floor. Temperature and and fan speed seem to work fine. Going around to some local repair shops I was told the whole dash would need to be removed for a repair.
From what I have read changing the air flow selector I should hear some motor make the change from the floor to the face, but do not hear anything.
My wife's '02 Explorer has developed an issue with the heat/AC. As far as I can tell, the heat is hot when it's supposed to be hot, and the AC is cold when it's supposed to be cold. But, the problem is that everything only blows out through the defrost vents, no matter what setting it is on.
I know there are other threads on this type of subject, and I have read a lot of them. I thought I had identified that actuator gizmo as the culprit, but the more I read, it didn't seem like the symptoms for that issue are exactly like mine. I want to try and fix it myself, and I'd love to take the time to read everything on the subject, but warmer weather is here and my wife wants it fixed yesterday!
This problem reminds me of the time the vacuum pump went out on my F-350 and the defrost vents were all that would work. I wish this problem would be as easy to fix as that was.
I have a 2004 Windstar that is nor behaving well. It seems to run ok for the time i have had it. Mileage not showing, error code for cam shaft sensor (It has been replaced), passenger window works intermittently, no display on stereo, Heat blows on drivers side while the AC blows on passenger side, Electric doors work sometimes.
Like i say, it drives ok but won't pass emissions and too many erratic problems to sell it. My independent mechanic thinks its the computer and said take it to ford. Cant afford for them to waste hours shooting down individual problems if they are all related.
Having difficulties with an air conditioner. 2006 KR F150. The air blows, but not cold. I just had everything checked in regards to pressures, freon, etc., but still only blows ambient temperatures.
View 3 RepliesI have a 1990 E250 and the heat does not blow. I have only had the van a year and it somewhat worked when I got it, but at the end of least winter It stopped blowing. It does not matter what setting I have it on low or high. if I turn the defrost on and put my hand on the dash I can feel warm air but it does not blow. It is the same for the vent, I can feel warm air coming out but does not blow. Sometimes if I hit a bump it seems like it will blow a bit harder but not like it should. My question is, should I just replace the blower motor, or is there something else I should check first?
View 4 RepliesI am trying to solve a mystery on my mom's truck. It's an '06 4.2L F-150 STX with about 133k miles. It had a check engine light on until today- I cleaned the TB and changed air filter yesterday, and both were filthy. Code vanished later on while driving.
I want to check the PCV because the truck idles high and rough in any setting from park to OD, stopped or moving. Worse when stopped though. Entire coil pack has already been changed due to previous misfire problems. This feels similar to a misfire but without the acceleration hesitation. It has also had a recent oil change, and fuel/oil filter change as well.
There is only one hose connecting to the intake on this truck, and it appears to be a vapor line of some sort to the valve cover, but isn't a PCV cause it's just a hollow tube. There is nothing else coming out of the TB at all, except for the throttle control cable. I don't even seen any nipples or connections or holes where a PCV hose or valve should go. I thought it was on the passenger side, under the TB... but there is nothing here at all. I'm stumped.
I am beginning to think the truck just does not have one at all, which I know for a fact is impossible. I have traced every line on this motor from top to bottom, and I do not see it. Should have a heater on it I assume? What else can make the truck so rough? I don't buy it that "it's just that way". That is complete, lazy, BS. I have had/driven many trucks; 4x4s, supercrew, diesels, jeeps, dump trucks... I have NEVER had a truck run as badly and roughly as this one does. Heck, a twin-turbo 700HP diesel doesn't run this roughly.
I turn it up on any fan speed, and set it on the floor setting, and nothing blows out the bottom vents. pretty much no air is getting to the bottom vents.
I do feel some air blowing out of the windshield defroster vents when I put it on the floor setting. seems like something is blocking it maybe?
My blower in my truck only blows at levels 3 and 4. Do the blower motor going out? Switch? Motor relay? I've read a bunch of things try?
View 5 RepliesI have a f150 2007 with a 4.2 in it. The CEL comes on and when this happens the air comes out the a/c vents and no where else. We have cleared the code out but it comes back on when we do clear it out the air blows out where the dial is set. I think there is a vac leak somewhere....

When heater setting is at 75, passenger side blows toasty, but driver side is cold. What else do I need to look at possibilities?

View 9 RepliesI'm having with my truck. During a drive cross country my heat started to go from hot to mildly warm to cold in probably 5 hours. After stopping I checked my coolant level and it was empty. I do have a leaky head gasket and have driven about 18 hours so I'm guessing that's where it went. I could not find a leak anywhere. I filled it back up and left the cap off the reservoir to let any air work it's way out. My heat still blows cold as ice but if I shut off the heat completely and wait ten seconds then turn it back on it will blow warm air for maybe two seconds. What this could be?
View 3 RepliesMy AC blows hot air, like heater hot, but the defrost on cold blows cold air. At first the AC would cut out at low rpm's (stop sign or red light) and cut back on, now its nothing. But the defrost blowing cold, enough to fog up the windshield, tells me its not the compressor or freon.

I have replaced the resistor and it stopped working again if i smack the black box the resistor is in it will work again. My question is where is the blower motor and how hard of a job is it to change. I just ordered the motor.
