The brake light on my 04 has come on twice the past week. The brakes are working fine, no problems. When I turn the truck off, then restart, the light goes out. Just had the front rotors changed.
View 6 RepliesAs the title states, my brake light on the dash keeps on coming on intermittently. I can't figure it out. Fluid level is fine, and I added more just to be sure. Pads and rotors all got replaced within the last 9 months. I don't see any chafed or broken wires to the wheel/abs sensors. I don't know where else to look
Also when the light comes on the pads on the rear passenger side seem to drag a little bit. I can't feel it, but I can hear it just slightly.
Intermittently, the parking brake/ABS light comes on with no pattern I can put my finger on. Some times its on when I start it and stays on the entire time I drive it. Some times its off when I start it and then comes on while I'm driving it. This morning I took it by Advance auto and had them check for codes while the light was on: C1342 - ABS control module. I can't find a lot of information about this code or what can be done to fix it other than taking it to a dealer. Any alternative solution, perhaps re-seating the connectors to the module - and where the heck is the module and what does it look like?
View 1 RepliesMy son's 2006 F-150 4x4, with 107,000 miles, has in intermittent brake light on. I replaced the rear pads, as they were nearly into the rotors. The brake pedal feels fine in all braking conditions. Could the master cylinder still be going bad? Anything else to check?

I have an 03 Gx 470, original owner, 220K miles. When I go on the brakes the emergency brake light comes on on intermittently, not all the time, even when driving along sometimes it just comes on.... Braking seems fine, don't feel any issues.
View 1 RepliesMy passenger side brake light has developed a fault over the past couple of months. The brake light will work, for example, when I turn the car on both lights will come on, however if I then take my foot off the brake and re-apply it, it will not work. However later when I am driving I will notice (via reflections) that it is working again!
I am aware that the bulbs cannot be replace and that I would need to replace the whole unit (after market versions available for £75 ish). I have attempted to check the cabling and everything appears OK but I am not an expert. I just removed the rear paneling and made sure nothing was loosely connected.
My 2006 F150 was purchased by me in early 2009 with about 28,000 miles on it. It's an XLT crew cab 4X4 with the 5.4. Stock except for a leveling kit and an aftermarket head unit. It currently has about 59,000 miles and has been babied since I purchased it. About 3 years ago I started noting some issues:
A. Oil pressure dummy gauge is all over the place. Some times it will show no oil pressure. Other times it is all the way to the highest mark. Other times the needle has gone 180 degrees past where normal is and is actualy pointing straight down towards the floor.
B. Recently my alternator dummy gauge has started doing the same thing as my oil pressure gauge.
C. The backlight behind my odometer works intermittently, but mostly not at all.
D. My dome light will flicker when first turned on. It doesn't matter which door is opened or if the override switch it turned on. It takes several seconds to come on and will flicker like there is a poor connection somewhere, but stays on once its on.
E. Blower fan will occasionally stop blowing. Once the climate control switch is turned to off, then back to on it resumes working. This doesn't happen often, but does occasionally.
Fortunately, the truck has not left me stranded and I want to keep it that way. We are getting ready to sale my wife's Toyota and this will become her daily driver. I want to take care of any issues before she starts driving it. Are these all separate issues or is there one common issue which could be causing them all?
The brake light on my 08 F150's dash comes on and off whenever it feels like it. Have had the brakes inspected and they are good and the e-brake switch is okay. Is there a fluid level switch in the master cylinder? The level is okay but maybe this switch could have a bad attitude?

I noticed the other day that all at once, the abs light and parking brake light came onto the dash, 4x4 low doesn't work and just stays in high and the ac doesn't blow cold. I'm assuming this is somewhat connected considering this all happened at once but really just not sure.

It's a 2008 Lariat Super Crew 60 K miles. I've searched and seen only a few posts related to the ABS. One item I've seen mentioned is a sensor on the rear differential. What other parts are in the ABS system that may cause a light to come on. How to troubleshoot the system would be great, too.

View 5 RepliesI started to feel the brakes get spongy. So I pulled the master cylinder forward and turned the 7mm about a half turn. Also noticed the brake fluid level low. I topped it off. Drove down a steep hill....red dash brake light comes on.....plow truck stopped at the base of hill with on coming car. Used emergency brake.
The down side is that I don't have a dry area to pump and check where the leak is. The up side is I have a 2nd car to drive (yaris).....the truck only has 45k miles on it. Where is that area that is prone to leakage on these trucks....... 2004 heritage 4.2 v6 with stick shift.... only 45k miles ....
Ok, I changed my front brake pads and rotors last week and since then everytime I get in the truck and drive for about the first 2 or 3 miles when I push the brake pedal it feels like my ABS sytem is activating. Then it stops and the ABS light comes on but the brake pedal stops pulsating when depressed. Is my ABS going bad or did I possibly do something wrong? I have changed the rotors and pads before without problems....
View 3 RepliesI have a 2006 F150 and the left rear turn signal and brake light has quit working. Also the license plate lights do not work. The cruise will disconnect when signalling a left turn. I have checked fuses and bulbs and the wiring/connector at the multifunction switch with no luck.

View 6 RepliesI've been having a problem lately where I'm driving down the road and the brake light comes on and starts binging. I stop push the parking brake and release it a few times, then the light goes out and I'm on my way. Sometimes when I first release it the light doesn't extinguish and sometimes it is never on. I'm guessing there is a switch somewhere for the parking brake that isn't working so great. Is it around the pedal or somewhere in the brakes themselves? Is this a typical problem?
