On my 2011, I have been running AC in the normal setting and in max setting, but don't get the water dripping on the ground like I am used to seeing, especially with the high heat and humidity. My 2000 truck used to make lots of water and the wife's '09 Flex does too.
Is this normal with the new trucks?
Why do the GT's drip water out of a little hose under the car? Condensation drain of some sort? Seems like it would be messy in a garage, though I guess it's just water, I think...
View 13 RepliesThe doors on my truck were leaking water into the cab due to poorly adhered splash shields on the interior of the doors. The splash shield sits between the door shell and the trim panel.
Signs of the leak are water pooling in the groove in the weather strip at the bottom of the opening. Mine were pooling water at the front of the opening and when the door was opened you could see the water running down from behind the door panel.
If you have a water leak along the door opening on a newer vehicle, make sure your dealer checks for this new TSB. It was supposedly only put out in the last week.
I was coming back from work today and it was about 75 degrees out. Turned the temp control as low as it would go and without pressing the a/c button. When I got home I saw fluid marks where I pulled in on the concrete pad. Looked under the car and there was a good sized puddle of water dripping from the car like the a/c had been running but I never turned it on.
So I guess my question is, when you turn the temp control as cold as it goes or close to it, does the a/c automatically come on even without pressing the button or the light for it coming on?
I just wanted to bring in cool air in just running the fan to reduce road noise and not using a/c, and thought the air was pretty cold and at 75 degrees it shouldn't have been that cold. I didn't notice any power loss which I had been used to with my other car running a/c as well.
Where I should start looking for the root cause of the following leak? My wife noticed that when it was raining water dripped off the handhold by the front passenger seat. The ceiling liner is dry, no evidence of water soaking into it. I am thinking windshield or door seal as there is no moon roof and the liner is dry but before I start tearing into it I want to see if there is even a chance I can fix it myself.
View 3 RepliesMy father recently bought a used 2014 IS250. After washing the vehicle there was a significant amount of condensation (water) in the passenger side headlight. After visiting the dealership for window tints the dealership denied to fix it warranty due to the fact that it was involved in a accident with the previous owner which is completely understandable. I recently bought a replacement new oem headlight to replace it. Would it be too difficult to install myself, is it just plug and play?
View 3 RepliesI was adding some fuel from a can to my Ranger last evening and I noticed gas was dripping on the ground. I traced it to, as best as I can tell, where the inlet pipe meets the tank.
Cannot see up there at all so not sure how it is attached. How I might be able to repair it without dropping the whole tank. Some kind of goop I can reach up there with and lather on to try and curb the leak?
So now that heat of summer is here, I have been running the AC and noticed a problem. The carpet under the floor mat on the passenger side is wet. It is not from the rain but only after I run the AC. There is a good amount of water in the carpet. The condensation also runs out from under the truck like normal. Any fix to keep me from spending money at the dealer? 2011 F150 XLT.
View 10 RepliesAs mentioned, water leaking (not coolant or oil) near catalytic converter, my guess this could be normal... but, the interior of the vehicle is fogging up after stopping, and of course, clears up when the front defroster goes on. No sweet smell, interior or exterior. No warning lights or codes.
View 5 RepliesI have written a lot over past years about my 2002 Sienna. It has always been very low on oil consumption, even over 200,000 miles.
In Sept/Oct during my annual visit to the States it used a quart in 3200 miles, which is more than in the past.
Last week, for the first time ever, I saw oil under the car on the concrete. First thing I looked at was the drain plug. Solid, and no oil on it.
Then, the filter. Ditto. No oil on the bottom nor under it.
I looked further and there is oil around the edge of the metal part on top of the motor which is obviously the valve cover. So, I am assuming the valve cover gaskets are oozing based on where the oil is visible.
But, first, I will check to see if the screws on the cover are loose, just in case.
As time passes, I will look around in other places. I realize a quart in 3200 miles is not the end of the world, but if I can make it better, why not?
If I can, I will wait until my next trip to the States, next October to do repairs other than checking for loose bolts/screws.
I recently purchased my ISF from a Lexus dealer in my area. After the first rainfall i noticed there was water starting to build up in my passenger headlight.
View 14 RepliesI have a 2001 Town and Country and when I start it up, in about a minute or so, it starts to leak gas from the exhaust. White smokes come from the exhaust and gas starts dripping out onto the ground.
View 12 RepliesMy 2004 Odyssey climate control is blowing hot air even when I set the controls to max cold. Not just outside type hot air but the heater is on to max hot air. Pushing the a/c off button does nothing. When I turn the a/c system on I can hear the motor's rpm drop and I see the fan turn on. I think the system is still still getting cold because when I stop I can see condensation dripping under the vehicle. How to fix this or to at least get it to blow cold all the time?
View 3 RepliesI washed my truck for the first time tonight, and while doing so, I noticed what looks like water got into the third brake light on top of the cab. Is that a common issue and is there an easy fix? I've seen foam inside at the very bottom of the light fixture, it kind of looks like there are two housings though, with the foam in between. I checked the inside headliner, and everything there is dry.
View 8 RepliesOpened one of the rear doors on my crew cab and there must have been several gallons of water sloshing around inside the door. Shook the door a few times and water started draining out both corners of the door seam. After about an hour (I told you it was a lot of water) it seems to have stopped draining. Now I'm wondering how long this has been going on and what the inside of the door looks like by now.

I could see several places where the floor meets the sides where there is daylight. Is road spray something I need to worry about there? Do I need to seal it up tight or leave it alone?

View 1 RepliesCondensation from the rear blower drain line coming out normally BUT also have some dampness in the rear carpet just outside the jack/blower door? Possible partially plugged drain?
I'll pull the whole side panel when it cools off out here, but wondered if it was possible to diagnose without pulling the panel. I'll try the window/water trick tomorrow, but the seals look really good and are still supple, so really expecting it to be the rear blower or evaporation back there.
I'm still working through all the small nuances of bringing this old 03 Ex back to perfection mechanically....
2009 f150 5.4. Replacing water pump and I can't get the fan to break loose. I've broken 2 belt wrenches. I've just sprayed liquid wrench on it .
View 9 RepliesI just noticed my 13 FX4 isn't draining water, but I checked inside and the carpets feel dry. Maybe I'm just being paranoid but the wifes Jeep always has a huge puddle under it. I'm sure the drain is somewhere under all that silver sound deadener. Is this common?
View 3 RepliesMy 2014 F150 has been in 5 times now for a leak issue and I'm tired of it. I get a water leak in the passenger rear corner of the headliner that makes a big wet stain in the headliner. It rained all day yesterday and now the drivers side rear is wet. The dealer has resealed the rake light, changed to an "upgraded" gasket, sealed again, sealed the top roof trim, sent the truck out to have the rear window removed and resealed...and its still leaking...if anything worse now.
The gasket Ford uses is clearly not the right answer as it's sub par, and Id rather not use silicon as I've heard it can damage paint and even the metal eventually. Is there a permanent fix for this? I'll do it myself so it just gets fixed right...5 times at the dealer is enough! I'd buy a light like a Recon or something if I knew it would fix this leak issue for good. Wondering what others have done. This is a brand new truck with under 10,000 miles on it and I've been fighting this crap since I had 500 miles on it. It's literally unbelievable!
