I have a 11 f150 with a 5.0 can I Disable the traction control? All I can do now is turn it off on the dash and it kicks back in at 20mphish and it absolutely sucks in snow! Other than pulling a fuse do I have any other options?
View 14 RepliesI have a 2014 IS 350 F Sport AWD. Can the traction control be truely turned off? You can push the Trac-off button but at 32 mph it is disabled and traction control is back in the game. The manual is of no dice and I've looked at numerous forums with no luck.
View 14 RepliesI never noticed since I purchased my new truck about a month ago that my traction control has been on since I bought it in just curious if it suppose to be turned of or can I leave it like this I don't want to hurt anything mechanically by leaving it on I never new with the light being on means it's off one day on accident I hit it by mistake and it said off but in all honestly have I did any damage with it being on and fringing it all the time keeping it on hurt the engine rear end or tranny at all.....

View 14 RepliesI have a 09 150 FX4, the traction control that ford put in the 150's is terrible. Even with it shut of, it still cuts power to the drivetrain. I saw a thread on here a while back about a Ford tech who changed a few parts from his 150 to Raptor parts to eliminate the traction control and keep the electronic locking rear end to stay engaged at any speed. i have the part numbers that he listed. I can not find the thread to get the rest of the information and how he made out. Disengage the traction control on F150?

I have a 2009 F150 with 35" tires and a front leveling kit. When cornering the traction control light comes on. I have talked to a few people, some are baffled and one said that it may be a programming issue. The tires are steel belted federal couragia mud terrain.

View 4 RepliesI have a 2009 f150 fx4, scab. It has 7500 miles. The truck was parked for three days. I go to use the truck and the ABS light is on, as well as the traction control icon. I drove it for 2 hours or so. Turned the ignition off and back on, ABS is still on.
View 4 RepliesI've had an issue twice with the truck stuck in park. Both times I pulled battery cables and it reset itself. This time is different; the truck is stuck in park, the chime doesn't work when you open the door, the screen flashes tire pressure monitor fault and the traction control light blinks on and off. Not only that, the radio does not work, nor does the heat/air. I've got to believe with that many things its the body control module gone bad? Truck is a 2010 crew cab with the 5.4 btw...
View 14 RepliesFor some reason, when I go up/down driveways, pull into parking lots with sloped curbs, etc, my traction control will engage and there is a grinding noise in the back on the back brakes. I don't know if this is normal or not. I had all the brakes replaced recently but that didn't stop the issue, so I don't know if this is just normal or what. Is this normal and if not, what it might be?

Had a couple days of 20's temps, started truck last night and I have the brakes symbol and ABS light staying on, with the message "Check brake system" and the traction control symbol alternating back and forth. On a 16 mile trip, they all went out just once, for about ten seconds when I restarted at the gas station. Then came back on. Brake job done within the last two years by previous owner at the dealership.
View 2 RepliesThis morning (roughly freezing temperature - nothing out of the ordinary after the brutal winter we just had) got onto the highway to head to work and set the cruise control (as normal) at approx 110km/h (65mph) and after several seconds heard a distinct, quite unpleasant grinding noise. It was loud enough to be heard over the heater and radio. Turned the heater and radio off to listen closer and didn't like the sound of it - sounded like metal on metal.
There was no different feel in the floor, pedals or steering wheel. As soon as I turned cruise control off, the noise disappeared! Turned cruise control back on, and the noise returned approx 5 seconds later. If I continued driving along normally and sustained a certain speed, the noise would appear after 5 seconds again and only go away once I lifted off the gas or coasted down a hill... Very bizarre. Once I got to work and poked my head underneath didn't immediately notice anything out of the ordinary - no funny smells or anything...
Background info: 2011 FX4 ecoboost, crew cab. Stock, no modifications. Approx 134,000km (~80,000 miles)...
I replaced a water pump on a customers 2013 5.0L truck this week. The bearing was totally shot and lost all the coolant. Truck only had 46000 miles on it, is this common?
View 7 RepliesOn Friday, the traction control light turned on (with no sound) and stayed on while driving, stopped and parked. I brought it to my local dealership to check and see what was wrong. I was informed that the steering angle sensor circuit went bad. I asked if the car could drive fine without the repair and was told it would be okay. I also asked if this error light could be turned off and was informed that it was impossible. I went home and parked. Sunday night, I noticed that none of the interior lights would work.
View 1 RepliesIt's to a 1998 Lincoln Mark VIII. I love the thing and try to keep it running. Anyhow, I hooked a borrowed computer to it and it said that it was not reading the sensor. Yes, I checked all of the fuses. I also played hell getting a new (well, used) Anti-Lock Brake Sensor. Discontinued Motorcraft Part # BRAB81. No change in the problem.

Check vsc, abs off, traction control off, afs off. all came on at once. i didn't turn anything off.

View 8 RepliesI need to troubleshoot a problem with the ABS & Traction control lights on a 2006 Mountaineer Premium with 126,000 miles. During the year that I have owned the vehicle this problem has occurred every time it is driven on a long trip. The previous owner never drove on longer trips so has no experience with this problem.
When you drive the vehicle around town and on shorter trips (less than an hour) there are no indications of problems. The ABS and Traction control lights come on as part of the start-up check cycle and go off. The ABS and Traction control work in low traction conditions and the lights function correctly when either one is activated.
The unusual behavior occurs on trips longer than an hour. Typically after about 1 1/2 hours at highway speed both the ABS and Traction control lights come on as well as the Wrench symbol in the message panel. It you hit "Reset" the Wrench symbol goes away but the ABS and Traction control lights stay on. The brakes work normally. I do not know if the ABS and Traction Control will work. I have never been in a low traction condition when the lights are on.
Both lights stay on until you stop the vehicle and turn off the ignition. When you restart the vehicle the ABS light is on but not the Traction Control light. When you start to drive the vehicle the ABS light goes out immediately.
After about 1/2 hour of driving both lights come on and the Wrench symbol displays in the message panel. Whenever you stop the vehicle and restart during the trip the cycle repeats. The day after you finish the long trip everything is normal for driving around town and on short trips.
My 09 camry didn't come with the traction control button. I don't want to do the pedal dance every time I want to turn it off. Is there any way to install a button to turn it off just like the factory one would?
