Goes from max to min line on degaus bottle every couple months. No puking or white residue. Going to pull egr tonight and see if damp. Anything else to check besides obvious leaks at hoses/radiator/etc?
I have an 03 F-250 6.0 Lariat with almost 200,000. The other day my t-stat started sticking and popping at 220 and then would go back to normal. Now it won't pop and it's puking coolant in the front of the engine. Would just a bad t-stat cause this or do I need to do my water pump as well.
View 1 RepliesMy truck is a 2005 6.0 with no after mods and has 73000 miles on it. It began to blow white smoke out exhaust. I changed out the egr valve and cooler. After putting back together it then blew white smoke ran it to clear out. This worked however once it warmed up it began to blow thick white smoke at 20 mph and clears up by the time it reached 30mph and white smoke shoots out at rapid acceleration. As well there is coolant leaking out under the truck from somewhere in the motor about in the center. I am looking to work on this myself as I have heard of owners taking it to shops and paying a lot of money for the prob to not get fixed.

View 9 RepliesI bought a 2012 F250 6.2L 4wd recently, truck came from Canada, Noticed a sticky residue along button of doors, around hinges, inside front and side edges of hood, some of the goo is in the A/C coil, doesn't have much odor, maybe oil, comes off with degreaser, doesn't look like it came from engine as that is clean, could this be something they spray on the roads up there? Doesn't seem to harm anything just messy if you rub up against it?

View 8 RepliesDuring the winter, the truck would always start very hard. When it was trying to start it would pump out some white smoke. Now during the summer the truck will still start hard. At one point during the winter we were getting glow plug codes, now these have gone away that its warm. We did replace the glow plug control module, but that did not solve the hard start during the winter. We figured that there was a bad glow plug which is sorting out the rest. So we then figured the hard start issue would go away with the warmer weather but it has not.
View 3 RepliesI just recently purchased my 06 Ford F-250 it's got the 6.0 in it once I made a 6hr trip I've noticed once you warm it up and ride a little bit kill it let set for 30min or better and crank it up it blows white smoke for a min or two than on the way to work this morning my heater.
View 2 RepliesI have a 2006 Ford F-250 coolant leak only when the truck is cold. Ive noticed it in the morning when I leaving for work. It looked liked it was coming from the passenger side yesterday and today it's on the drivers side when I'm sure is because my driveway has a small tilt to it I've looked everywhere I could under the hood and don't see it leaking.
I don't have any temp problems or white smoke and my coolant level has changed that much and for a few days the drip stopped now it's back. I tried to search for the answer but can't find it. I'm just wanted to make sure it's not the head gasket but I'm sure I would have a sign it it was. I will include where I saw it dripping from. It's parked on flat ground here ... That's where I saw a drip coming from driver side ....
I am new to fords i have an 06 f250 6.0 lariat i just replaced head gaskets and studded the heads with egr delete with new oil cooler ..my issue is now the truck wont start it trys but wont run and i have coolant spitting out from reservoir and its smoking from it as well. I really don't want to have to spend the money on a shop to rebuild it...

3 weeks ago had oil change and service. Last week engine started making roaring sound. Hubby raised hoid and discovered coolant fill tank cap off ( sitting on battery). Shop owner came to our home and filled with coolant, about 3 gal in. We drive from Houston to Lubbock then Dallas this week. Added about another gal coolant.
Hubby thought he heard an air sound yesterday, but was slight. Today after driving for about an hour at hwy speed, after we slowed for an exit, when throttle depressed again, air noise very loud and turbo weak. Limping home.
Have had some of the flexible hoses replaced in the last year or so as well.
I have a 2006 F250 5.4L. I was getting a noticeable misfire after not driving the truck for a while. Mode 6 revealed that cylinder #8 was misfiring.
I took off the coil/boot and there was coolant on the tip of the boot and some at the bottom of the spark plug well.
I cleaned everything up and put everything back together and that took care of that problem when I started the car. I also stuck a wad of paper towel by the intake manifold nearest spark plug number 8 and tightened the manifold bolts down a little. Some of them were not as tight as others.
I went back today and started the vehicle and it has the same problem again!
I took a look at the paper towel and it was totally dry! There is no coolant around the top of the spark plug well - only in the bottom of it. Where is this coolant even coming from? There are no coolant lines near cylinder #8. Is this a head gasket leak?
I have taken a look at the head gasket and that doesn't seem possible since the head gasket does not seal around the spark plug well at all as far as I can tell.
I just replaced my up pipes, turbo pedestal O-ring, ICP, IPR, New O-rings in all my injectors and torqued to spec, new glow plugs, glow plug relay, oil loom wiring harness, new O-rings on oil cooler, oil filter, oil, and antifreeze. I have tried and tried on upwards of 50 or time to get it to turn over. A little white smoke came out and it sounded like it wanted to fire up, but only a few times. I have good batteries and a charger on it working along, 3-4 trys in 5-10 second burts or longer if it doesnt lose power every 30 -hr. oil is in HPOP too. 2001 F-350 7.3 auto 2wd 4dr longbed 329,611 ml..
View 8 Replies2001 F250 5.4 with 160K miles. My wife "borrowed" my truck as she drove away, I saw white smoke coming out of the tailpipe. The kind you see in cold weather. Its was 75 degree in Texas this morning, so what could that be? There is antifreeze in the reservoir and I recently changed the oil and there was no water in it.
View 5 RepliesI have a 2008 Ford 250 diesel that is pouring out white smoke from the exhaust when it goes into "cleaning filter" mode. I really don't understand this because I have a dpf delete with a sct tuner. I thought with the tuner and delete the truck wouldn't go into filter cleaning mode. I contacted Ford and they said it was normal for white smoke to come from the exhaust during this process. What's going on maybe tuner is bad?
View 5 RepliesI've been MIA for a while. 2006 F250 just hit 83k miles. My coolant must be puking out of the degas tank. White residue all over degas and drivers side engine bay. I had my mechanic buddy pressure test coolant system for several hours and he said there weren't any leaks. He told me to replace the degas cap for now. Didn't solve the problem. Temps have always been fine. Never found drops or a puddle of coolant. Even when the truck has sat overnight for over 8 hours, there is still a bunch of pressure built up when cap is removed.
View 14 RepliesI have a 2002 f250 powerstroke 7.3, while driving it smokes pure white smoke and feels like its loading up and will start shaking if I floor it, it will rev slowly popping like its loaded up then cleans out runs good for a 1/4 mile than same thing. My temp gauge stopped working and it just seemed to get worse. Stuck it on a scanner and it didn't have any codes but was saying the engine temp was -211f. I got a new sending unit didin't fix any of the problems.
View 14 RepliesI have a 2006 f350 6.0l. I was driving home from work and all of a sudden I had no gas pedal. It would stumble and die with a bunch of white smoke out the tail. It also is not using the turbo at all no boost. I have a edge monitor and the engine codes it's kicking out are in the picture below. I have a warranty but the dealership that we bought it from and the closet ford dealer is 30-40 mins away and they don't currently have a diesel mechanic to work on it so I would have to go almost 1hr 20 mins to get to the next dealer. Will it hurt it to drive it that far?
View 2 RepliesThe last couple weeks my excursion had started to have a stumble and smoke white ate the first startup or after I let it sit for a long time. I did get progressively worse. I noticed the hpop line to the driver side head was leaking from the fitting so I rebuilt the boss fitting and now it's not leaking but when I started it up this morning it did the same thing.
If I give it throttle it clears up pretty quickly but if I let it just idle it will put white for probably 5 minutes. I have no codes showing when I looked with the scanner I don't see any other oil leaks and I don't smell a fuel leak.
Recently have had a sct live wire extreme on my truck and ever since put it back to stock put the dpf back on its been blowing white smoke got a p2452 and p1335 code but when you turn the tuner back on and turn the dpf off no more white smoke and no codes ? What could be causing this? beyond confused ?? (the reason I took the tuner off is cuz I am sell the truck and the dealership wants it stock),
View 3 Replies15 f350 gas xlt with 8.6 Western proplus straight blade. I noticed that while only applying throttle and fully angling the plow ,the hvac system turns off and then on again and the dashboard lights also turn off with the message system also going blank. I've brought it back to the body builder, twice, that installed it and they don't acknowledge a problem. The only answer I got was it's probably a bad battery. The funny part is you can angle it all day while it idles but as soon as you apply throttle and fully angle it left or right it cause the loss of power to certain accessories. When it does this it also causes a relay to click under the dash panel on the drivers side .
