I been having a issue with my truck lately. It's a 2008 with only 88,000 miles. When doing 55mph it feels like the transmission is slipping. Sometimes it will do it over and over. If I speed up to about 60mph it goes away.its has gotten worse in the last month or so. Hoping it's nothing major.
View 6 Replies1999 F250 SD... Tranny fluid is low, tranny slipped one time on me. I checked the fluid and it's low. No drips on the garage floor, so I'll have to inspect closer. But my question is can I add new fluid without screwing it up even more? It's got 170,000 miles and I doubt the fluid has ever been changed. I just bought the truck last week, so I can't say for sure, but it hasn't had a regular flush or change. It doesn't smell burnt but it's just a little darker than new fluid. I was told by the guy I bought it from that the torque converter was changed in it not too long ago.
View 11 Replies2011 f250 gas 4x4... I bought last year with 65k miles, now has 105k. sometimes when accelerating it slips for a second like a manual would if you jabbed the clutch while pulling. I had the 100k trans flush done. I noticed it a couple times before but more frequent recently. How concerned should i be?
View 6 RepliesI bought my F-250 Super Duty 6.0 last October, and I am extremely happy with it comparing to my former '03 Dodge 2500 TD. The Ford drives so much better!
There is only one problem I have with it. Without pulling it shifts nice and has lots of power. A Month ago I bought a fifth wheel trailer and I hardly notice it behind the truck, also it doesn't use more diesel pulling. However going uphill the transmission seems to slip, and I can hear (sounds like) a fan running loud? I loose speed.
All the temperature gauges stay normal, no difference. It starts to pull worse. I replaced de tranny filters, inside and the outside one. Also I did put the correct transmission fluid in there, no difference. Almost no grindings in the oilpan/magnet.
I looked on many sites, but cannot find anything on this. Personally I think it's the torque converter? My final step would be to have the transmission rebuild, with the best parts available, (close to WA, ID, MO)...
I have a older minimax with the latest updates and have noticed that under full acceleration the tranny seems to rev up faster than the truck is accelerating. This occurs i think in 3rd gear like accelerating onto a on ramp etc. Kinda like its slipping if you know what I mean. I'm running the mild tunes in tow mode. Everything else seems ok.
View 7 RepliesI have a 2008 Ford F250 V-10 Superduty and recently I had a transmission cooler line start to leak. I ordered replacement lines and the tool for the quick disconnect. The line that's leaking is from the radiator to the quick disconnect. I was able to replace the one line, however the second line (problem area) has been a nightmare. The line cracked right at the quick disconnect fitting.
The hard line is tight in the fitting and corroded. broke the tool trying to remove from disconnect. The line is flush with the quick disconnect. How to get that out of the fitting? or another method of fix? Its a hard 1/2 line going into connect crimped to rubber line going to transmission.
Truck is slipping in/out of gear in 3rd gear. Shut it off and the problem may not come back for several days, but in general it is getting more frequent. No codes are registering for the transmission. Curious the wisdom of performing a simple fluid/filter change vs taking it to the transmission shop. Fluid basically looks/smells good, and is full.

2 times were on my street at low speed just out of my driveway. It's like the engine shuts down for a while and maybe downshifts too. Feels like someone is stepping on the brakes for a second and then all is back to normal.
Last time I was getting out of a restaurant and accelerating hard to get up to speed on a 70km/h road. The downshift happened while I was going almost 70 but still in low speed so the braking effect was severe enough to throw me forward. Once again everything was fine the next second.
I'm not sure if it's the transmission downshifting or the engine cutting; maybe even the ABS kicking in for some reason. It happens too fast and too rarely to be sure. My feeling from what I remember is that the truck is downshifting and I'm feeling the braking effects from compression. 6.2 engine.
I recently had a thread going regarding my 1999 F350 2wd auto transmission slipping in/out gear. Tried to follow up on old thread but got confused so I'm trying to start a new one. Basic problem is that truck was slipping in/out of gear. Cleaned the solenoid pack electrical plug (as instructed on previous thread) and the truck didn't act up for 2 weeks. Today it started slipping in/out again and this time it registered a code of P0705.

View 14 RepliesI have a 2001 F250 SD 4x4 5.4L . I purchased the truck used with about 120,000 miles on it. It runs great despite averaging about 10.8 mpg. Shortly after I got the truck, I noticed what I thought was an intermittent transmission issue when the trans would shift. I would get a "flare" that lasted briefly as if the trans was slipping, but it was accompanied by a sound that I'm not sure how to describe, but it was somewhat like hitting a rev limiter. It only happened when the transmission shifted. The fluid was clean and did not smell burnt. I assumed it was a misfire issue, even though it did not happen often, and seemed to only happen at shift points. I changed all of the plugs and all of the coil packs. It still does the exact same thing. Sometimes it only does it once every couple of days, and other times it may do it 3 or 4 times a day.
View 5 RepliesSeems recently my 2008 f250 diesel wants to go into 4wd all by itself. It's the electric switch on dash with the auto/lock front hubs. I'm thinking either the dash switch or the accuator motor. Where to start though... Also I can turn the switch to 4 wheel high and it doesn't go in.

Like does line run under the cab wiring harness? Like between wiring and firewall? Where on firewall does reservior get mounted usually? Are the holes all ready there for it that I am not seeing?

Truck does not seam to go into lockup mode while driving down the road. it started just after I spun my wheels in a snow storm. No symptom's previous to this. No codes in dash no lights and also no codes when I checked it with an obd code reader.
View 4 RepliesSo my dad just bought a 2008 f250 xl with a single cd head unit and mp3 hookup. When you press the aux button on the head unit, it displays ' no aux audio". We have tried unplugging the radio and plugging it back in for a few minutes, but that has not worked .. Any way to get the aux input to work?

View 3 RepliesI have a 2002 ford f250 with the 7.3l diesel. I recently installed a ts performance chip. On my pcm. And after i first tried all the different stages I didn't like how my transmission was shifting hard. So I contacted the manufacturer and he told me they could reprogram the chip for smoother shifting. So I removed the pcm and removed the chip. But when I went to reinstall the pcm I bent one of the pins on the pcm some how.
So I took it back out and straightened the pin with pliers . i reinstalled it back in the truck. Only to find when I reattached the battery cable I have no power to anything ignition ,horn, lights,Cigarette lighter etc. So my question is if the pcm is bad, or not contacting properly due to the pin being messed up. would that have anything to do with the lights and horn and all that? I suspect its the gem bsm or Vsm. Whichever one my truck has. But really not sure because everything worked fine just 20 min b4.
I just bought this Super Duty with a 5.4L engine. I want to do a fluid change on the transmission. From what I read, this transmission needs to be hot flushed in order to change out all the fluid. I have not called my dealer yet to see if they do hot flushes. If my local dealer does not have this machine, can I just drop the old fluid from the pan and be ok? I have not gotten under the truck yet to see if it has an external filter.
