I have a 2011 F-350 Diesel. It started making a strange whining sound when I start it in the morning. Very random and only does it when it's 0- -4 c. Took it to the dealership and they said its the cooler fan clutch. Got it replaced yesterday, and this morning I started it up and the whining sound was back. It also had a weird vibrating sound. What it could be?
View 10 RepliesSo today pulling out of the gas station I turned my steering wheel to the left and I heard a high pitch squeal from the drivers side. It wouldn't do it again unless I was just creeping, nothing going down the road. I did a few searches on here but they all are if the truck is moving say 30 mph or better. I know I need to replace my ball joints. 99 F250, V10, 4X4, extended cab.

View 4 RepliesI just put a dual exhaust kit on my truck (cherry bomb extreme, single in dual out), and I've started to notice that around 2100-2200 RPMs, there's a high pitched vibration in what seems like the tight hand corner of my regular cab. It almost sounds like the glass in the window is vibrating, or a loose bolt, or something like that. Very high pitched, very noticeable.
View 2 RepliesAt low speeds, I notice a squeel sound in all four wheels. Ford tells me that it is due to the type of metallic pads they use and is essentially brake dust noise that warrants no repair.
Any after market pads that are good quality for towing heavy loads, yet aren't metallic in composition? For instance, are porcelin pads a good choice.
I noticed my truck makes a high pitched whining noise. It does it at idle and while acceleration up to 40 mph or so. The pitch of the wine increases with RPM'S. It is not the cold start whine issue I have researched on YouTube.
It is in the cold or warmth. No difference. It's always there. My 2012 6.2 did not sound like this at all. I have crawled under the truck and it appears like it is coming from the transmission.
2011 F-350 XL, I can hear a squeal coming from the front brakes when rolling forward slowly, believe the pads are dragging on the rotors. If I touch the brake pedal the squeal stops as it does when I turn the wheel. Took the calipers off and greased the slide pins and put it all back together, still got the squeal. What don't I know???
View 9 RepliesCar wouldn't start, would just kind of do a high pitch whining. Bought new battery and still does it. It might crank right up or take up to 5-6 times. I'm a second owner and I believe it is the starter.
View 12 RepliesThe T/O bearing makes a high pitch squeal until you put light pressure on clutch then it will go away. Does this thing have a preload on bearing at all times or should there be free play like in the old days??
Another thing that has me wondering is when I push clutch all the way in it actually puts a load on the engine. Having T/O bearing so bad it puts a load on the engine?
I'm have a 2011 6.7, 180,000. I have noticed a high pitched whistle, not an turbo whine, that disappears after the boost drops to less that the first mark on the gauge 5-10psi??? It stays consistent in tone, the mileage is good, power is good normal 6.7!!.
View 3 RepliesJust bought my first Ford. Its a 2015 F250 Platinum. Im at 1400 miles and Im becoming concerned because when I start the truck for the first time in the day, no matter how long I let it sit and warm up I am noticing that on the first couple of miles of driving I hear a high revving sound as I accelerate and it seems to quick shift during those first few miles.
As I continue to drive the high rev sound just fades away and all engine sounds and shifting are as normal as can be and will remain that way until the truck has been sitting for an extended period of time and is cold. I thought it had something to do with tranny temp but this morning I let the tranny warm up to about 115 deg in neutral before taking off but still had the high rev for the first few miles. I have never owned a ford nor have I ever owned a heavy duty truck, hoping this is normal.
Picked up a new to me 2011 F250 Lariat. She had a few odds and ends to take care of, but I was ok with that. So far I fixed the reverse sensors (2 were out) creaking in the back (leaf spring bushings needed a little Lithium Grease) Squeak in the back (tailgate step needed a little greasing). Now on to my next problem!
This is my first 6.2l (first f250 in general). Truck starts up great and idles quite. Taking off driving, it sounds loud as hell under the hood. To me it sounds like the Fan is making a loud sound as the motor is accelerating. It is more noticeable when you really floor it. Prior to this I owned a 2010 F150 and I know stomping on it the motor really revs up, but this other sound to me isn't right/normal. Googling around, the closest I found to it was:

Granted it's for an expedition, but the sound is damn near identical. Looking on youtube at 1 or 2 videos of a f250 doing a 0-60 all I heard was the sound of the motor revving, so that has me convinced the sound I'm hearing is not normal. I'm 99% convinced it has to be the fan clutch.
My 11 cc lb 4x4 6.2 has a clunking/loose sound coming from the front end. It is prominent when going over small/medium bumps but not so much large bumps. I have had my local dealer and a couple local shops look at it and they all say everything checks out. It definitely seems like something is loose in the front suspension. I just put new Gabriel max control shocks on all four corners. I have no play in wheel bearings or ball joints. Tie rod ends also look fine.
View 12 RepliesTruck is 2012 F250XL single cab 6.2. Where is the pitch sensor on this truck? There are times the hill start assist will keep the brakes applied on level ground, and occasionally I will crest a hill onto a level stretch and the truck doesn't want to upshift. So I am thinking the pitch (incline) sensor needs recalibrated. Where it is?
View 7 RepliesJust became the proud owner of a used 2011 F-250 Supercab, 6.2L. Overall the truck is great but it does have a-few things that need fixing, the most annoying of which is a knocking sound from the rear passenger side cab corner. Sounds like the exhaust vibrating and smacking up against the floorboard but that's not it. Everything seems tight, even the front suspension.
The only thing I can see that may be the cause is the rear passenger cab mount seems worn. I can rotate the bottom rubber portion without too much effort and when I feel for the top rubber portion all I feel is the metal cup on the top, like the rubber has collapsed and the metal cup is sitting directly on the frame mount.
So... how many cab mounts there are for the Supercab? I think there are two on each side and two in the front. All of the information & videos I've seen describe the locations for the crew cab. Also, is it possible to replace the cab mounts and not have to mess with the ones in the front? I hear those are the real buggers.
My truck was in 4x4 and would squeal all the time on and off. Here is the situation today, this has happened prior but i just didn't post on here until it lasted for 30 miles on the highway.
4x4 system:
-MM hubs
-all stock minus the hubs
-Pass side vac hose melted against tire (doesn't matter with the MM hubs but too much info is not a bad thing)
-Replaced u-joints in November
-the screeching when not engaged predates the MM hubs that i installed, it occurred when i had my auto hubs locked last year because they would not disengage
Trip:
-average of 45mph
-30 miles from NH to MA (route 3)
-truck was operating up to temp
When it occurs:
-Under Acceleration
-15-45 mph
- when going from stop-30 it makes a hollow tapping noise instead of the screech
- when hubs are locked and t-case is NOT engaged it screeches for about 1 miles and then stops
Sound in the video occurs within the first 8 seconds, its faint in he video but very loud in person. Highway didn't look that bad in the video but i was in a plowed sctretch other than that the last 25 miles were through about an inch of snow and slush.
While engine braking I started hearing a squeal under the hood , when I started accelerating it became a little louder, I pulled over and when I rev it up it gets louder and has a little rattle sound, sounds like it coming from the turbo....

View 3 RepliesI have a 2013 f350 with the 6.2L gas and automatic transmission...when it sits idling in gear or park it starts to whine or squeal for about 30 seconds then stops and starts again. it makes a horrible sound if you shut the truck off while it's making the noise... Ford has had the truck for 5 weeks and checked the motor for vacuum leaks and changed the torque converter...but it's still doing it but less frequently now but according to them it's louder. I have a video but don't know how to upload it. if you go to YouTube and search ford raptor whine it shows a raptor making the same noise also.
View 7 RepliesYesterday my truck started making a loud high pitch squeal at idle. Messing with it this morning I found when I turn the a/c on it quits. Then it will do it for a second at startup and quit. If the a/c system is turned off it comes back. I thought exhaust leak until I found the a/c link.
View 9 RepliesI have an 2001 Ford F250 V10 CCSB. I installed 3157 LED Brake//Turn light. Now when I turn in my left turn signal it blinks fast which I can live with that but it would be nice if it blinked at the regular phase. Here my big problem. When I turn on my right turn signal there's a loud squeal in the cab of my truck. !!!
