Ford Super Duty (1999-2016) :: Temperature Gauge Pegs And Dinger Goes Off - Check Gauge Light On?

Jan 14, 2009

Just about every trip i take my temp gauge pegs and dinger goes off and check gauges lights up in the message center. It eventually will go back to normal or if i shut key off and restart truck it goes to normal. im guessing it is the temperature sensor for the gauge but not sure?? If it is, where is the gauge sensor located?

Ford Super Duty (1999-2016) :: Temp Gauge Pegs Over 250 And OD Light Flashes Steadily Going Uphill

When I purchased my truck 1999 F350 about 5 years ago, I was told it was on its third transmission since the awesome 7.3 diesel engine has 200,000 miles on it. At first I noticed that going up a hill with the truck empty would cause the tranny temp gauge to climb to 250 degrees F. Nowadays when I tow my boat or carry my camper, the temp gauge pegs over 250 and the overdrive light flashes steadily when I do any hill climbs. I have had the fluid flushed several times, and I have a large fan powered oil cooler too. I also recently noticed that the tranny heated up when the truck is just idling in place.

I just got back from burning man and during the 800 mile round trip the overdrive light started flashing at least 6 times and the temp gauge read over 210 the whole time, with it pegging over 250 during hill climbs. No fluid boiled out but I am very concerned that damage is being done.

Is it possible there is a clog in a line somehwere restricting the flow of oil? Or should I replace the tranny?

Ford Super Duty (1999-2016) :: Oil Gauge Drop To Zero And Light Came On

I have a 2000 f250 5.6 v8 with around 104k miles. yesterday I noticed the oil gauge drop to zero and the light came on. then, it went back up to normal. after a few minutes it did it again. I parked in the driveway and checked the oil. it was gone! dipstick was dry. there are no leaks as far as I can tell and it hasn't been burning oil. it was running fine and I was surprised to even see the dash light come on. What could be the cause of this?

Ford Super Duty (1999-2016) :: Dash Light Out At Fuel / Oil Pressure Gauge

On my 05 Super Duty, the gauge light for the fuel and oil pressure are out. The needles are still illuminated red but the backlight for the gauges are dark. Are these replaceable bulbs or are they a circuit board diode or something that can't be easily replaced?

Ford Super Duty (1999-2016) :: Fuel Gauge On Empty With The Light On 25 Gallons

I have a 2001 f250 with the 5.4. from what I have read i should have the 38 gallon tank. i have been really questioning the accuracy of my fuel gauge on empty with the light on 25 gallons and the fuel pump will click off and after i drive i can park and my fuel gauge will read lower than what it was when i pulled into the driveway with. me and the wife went driving yesterday and we pulled back into the driveway on half a tank this morning I went to go run some errands and when i started the truck the gauge was almost on a quarter of a tank my driveway is flat and after driving for about 35 minutes the gauge was still in the same spot and did not move up nor down.

I have a locking gas cap cover so i know someone is not taking gas out. I have changed the fuel filter and tried numerous different fuel system cleaners to try and see if maybe the contacts on the float in the tank are dirty nothing has changed or gotten any better. I have checked the wire harness from the top of the tank and followed it up under the hood and found no drop in voltage or cracked or damaged wires. I checked with my multi-meter I used my fluke meter not some cheap one. Don't know if the gauge is reading less or more from getting gas i am thinking it is showing less than what is in the tank. What could be my problem?

Ford Super Duty (1999-2016) :: 2013 V10 - At Idle Oil Pressure Gauge Drops And Red Oil Light Comes On

I have a 2013 F550, v10. At idle, the oil pressure gauge drops and the red oil light comes on. If I hit the gas, the gauge pops back up. I swapped out the oil pressure switch. That didn't fix the problem.

I thought maybe the gauge was faulty, so I bought a 2 inch mechanical oil pressure gauge and hooked that up, leaving the factory gauge disconnected.

I watched the oil pressure start around 50 psi cold, and it slowly fell to 10-15 psi as it warmed up. The truck has 65k miles on it. There is no knocking, no ticking, no loss of performance.

I cannot imagine that at 65k miles, that it would be a worn engine. Right??

Ford Super Duty (1999-2016) :: Check Engine Light On - Exhaust Gas Temperature Sensor Circuit High

I've owned my 2012 F-250, 6.7L for less than a week and it has a check engine light. The local dealer can't see me for a week, and I need to leave town next week.

I went to AutoZone to have the codes checked and this is what they came back with:

P2033
Exhaust Gas Temperature Sensor Circuit High Bank 1 Sensor 2

P2031
Exhaust Gas Temperature Sensor Circuit High Bank 1 Sensor 2

Can I drive on these codes, or should I park the truck until Ford can see me?

Ford Super Duty (1999-2016) :: 2005 F350 - Gauge Light Started Flickering - Instrument Cluster?

I have a 2005 F 350 with a 6.0 Diesel! My heat quit on my wife and I the other night! I replaced some fuses and started the truck to make sure the heat was working and it was! So I thought while I am here I should replace some bulbs in the cluster that were out!

I took the cluster out, looked at the bulbs and they looked oK so I put them back in and put the dash back together! When I went to start the truck once I turned the switch on my gauges and lights started flickering on and off fast and all it will do is just click when I try to start it! I just had it running 15 minutes before this!

I went through all the fuses and if I take one of the relays out and turn the switch on all the lights and gauges seem to work right but when I try to start it, nothing! I replaced the relay and it starts flickering again! I had the relay checked at Napa and they said it was good! The relay was for the Powertrain module!

Ford Super Duty (1999-2016) :: Gas Gauge Won't Go Past 3/4

Just bought my second SD, this one is a 2002 CC SB 4x4 V10 with 8" lift and 37s. My trouble is that when I fill up the truck when the pump shuts off my gauge only shows 3/4 of a tank. Ignition is off during gas ups.

I have been searching a reading all I can about SD gas gauge issues, but cant find any fixes? Wondering if this problem is sending unit, gauge or pcm? Is the sending unit part of the fuel pump in tank?

Ford Super Duty (1999-2016) :: Fuel Gauge Not Working

Everything was working fine, getting down to about 1/4 tank. I do the usual, fill up, startup, reset the trip, and look at my level and it hasn't changed, neither has the 'km until E'. What would cause this? Failed Sender? No check engine light (yet). I guess I'll be watching the trip meter for a while.

Ford Super Duty (1999-2016) :: F250 Gas Gauge Not Moving At All

I was driving home the other day when all of a sudden all of my electronics in my truck turned off. Turned out when I got home my battery terminal was loose so it ended up shorting out. (fixed that) but when that happened my fuel was just under half way. The next day I filled up and was pulling a 3,000 pound trailer. My gas gauge didn't move at all, all weekend it was stuck at full until I actually went over a bump and it started moving down to a quarter. I knew here was no way I could go all weekend pulling a trailer and only lose a quarter of gas so I filled up again and was only be able to fill up 14 gallons.

Ford Super Duty (1999-2016) :: Vacuum Gauge Connection Points?

2002 F-250 SD XLT V10

While rummaging in my garage a couple of days ago I stumbled upon a vintage Stewart Warner mechanical vacuum gauge. I would like to install it on my truck.

Same question with respect to following gauges:

Volt
Oil Press
Water Temp....

Ford Super Duty (1999-2016) :: Fuel Gauge Stuck On Full

2000 v10 f350 single tank...fuel gauge is stuck on full. I'm on the road so I don't have my drawings so I tried some quick troubleshooting. If I remember right 160k or so is full and 20k ohms is empty...so I unplugged the sender from the harness which should be open and the gauge should read empty. With key on its reading full. I then followed the harness and unplugged it near the brake booster...key on it reads full. Just wanted to make sure I'm not doing anything wrong before I rip the dash apart.

Ford Super Duty (1999-2016) :: No Gauge Reading After Changing Sensor?

So, recently acquired my grandpa's "old" 2000 F250 with the 5.4. I am a pretty mechanical guy, not a mechanic, but not dumb and change my own parts for a lot of stuff. Anyways, when I got the truck, I noticed it didn't like to get warm, or so the gauge said. It would go a little above cold, but you could tell, not a normal reading. I did a coolant flush because the system desperately needed it, changed the tstat, and a few days later, changed the Coolant Temperature sensor.

I pulled the old one out, it was covered in amazing crud from many years of being in there. Slapped the new one in, nothing. Doesn't register on the gauge at all, in fact the gauge acts like it is a dead gauge. I thought it might be the sensor, so I popped the hood again and found I had managed to break the plastic plug on the sensor. Figured that was probably the issue and went and got another. Same result. Checked the connection, it is in there snug. Didn't reset the PCM when I changed the sensor and some vehicles can be finnicky about that.

Ford Super Duty (1999-2016) :: F250 V10 - Fuel Gauge Not Working

1999 F250 V10 gas. I changed out the fuel pump, and now the gauge doesn't work. Checked all fuses - they're good. Is there any possibility that I could have accidentally pinned the float under the pickup sock, or got it hung somewhere? Is this a common occurrence? Don't really want to drop the tank again - but looks like I will have to in order to check/fix.....

Ford Super Duty (1999-2016) :: Fuel Gauge Stuck Over Full

I have a 2000 ford F 250 with V-10 engine with fuel gauge stuck. The problem started in the winter a couple years back on a cold night when I fueled the truck with it running. The fuel gauge never went down. I assume this would indicate a stuck float? I dropped the tank and noticed a loose yellow wire. I can't see that the wire was attached anywhere though? A V-10 is not the engine to be guessing with on fuel...

Ford Super Duty (1999-2016) :: Transmission Overheated / Gauge Headed Toward The Red Area

Last week my transmission overheated after I saw the the gauge headed toward the red area I shut it down. After shutting it down, 2 minutes later the "Wrench" warning light came on. I hit "OK" and within 7 minutes the temp. was back in the middle.

This was the situation, My truck is a 2013 F350 4X4 SRW Crew Cab 65,000 miles towing a 15000 lbs. gooseneck trailer on a uphill service road, similar to a fire road. Was into it a mile and half into when a steeper section can and I dropped into "2" still in 2WD. Trans Temp. climbed with minutes and I shut it down. Did not look at exact temps when it happened, remember engine temp gauge in the middle.

Backed the truck down the hill a short distance and unhooked. Trans gauge went down to middle (normal) and was able to continue up the hill 2 more miles no problem, without the trailer. I have towed since around town with same trailer and no problems. Checked the trans fluid and it looks like new, clear red.

Here's sum history, I'm running Mag-Hy Tech Trans pan installed at 45,000 miles with a fluid change at the time of install. Towed plenty of times in between install and date of problem.

Had the truck in for service the previous day before the overheating for Oil Change, brakes, and coolant change. Nothing related to trans.

Wondering if I have a trans cooler issue? Temp Sensor issue? OR this is the way the transmission operates and it just could take the load and conditions???
