so i have an automatic GLI its my first automatic VW i put a forge DV and carbino CAI on it yesterday, and compared to my Manual cars the air release sounds a whole lot different. it more or less sounds like a horse blowing its lips around. is that normal sound for auto vechiles.
View 5 RepliesRecently picked up a 05 GLI with the bbs wheels. Last night i was driving into my parking garage and noticed a clicking noise comming from the back left wheel.
I lifted the car on that side and spun the wheel but it didn't make the noise. But once i set it back down and rolled the car the click came back. So i'm guessing it has something to do with pressure being applied to the wheel.
went out after checking out the cheap mod thread (to see what I can mess with), went to pop the hood and nothing happened. I've looked all over vortex and I cant find anything.
View 3 RepliesCar was great this weekend, then on saturday, every time I shift my car clunks right near the tranny when I release the clutch. Its a loud noise. Clutch was done around 2500 miles ago. South Bend stg 1 with a LWFW (I know, wish I stayed with a DM). And if I drive in first and second and come off the gas without shifting, it also knocks once really loud. It isn't a back fire or anything it almost feels like the dogbone mount is bad? Also, over 4000 rpm my car sounds deeper sounding than before.

The only thing I can think is to replace the spring in it, but Idon't know how difficult that would be. Otherwise my only other thoughts are to find something thing enough that I can slide into it and hope it doesn't ever jam it up.
View 3 RepliesHappened on my mk6 now on the 20th! When I go to hit the switch for the gas tank release it is completely silent. Could that be the module? Half a tank left so not to worried about bringing it somewhere.
View 2 RepliesRecently my clutch started acting strange, the pedal felt softer and eventually after I pressed it in it stayed on the floor. After pumping it, everything went back to normal. Next day, still same thing, no pressure in the clutch pedal. I checked the brake fluid and it's full. There is also no sign of any leak. Took the car to the mechanic, he recommended changing the master cylinder. I changed it but still nothing. I tried bleeding the slave but every time I bleed it, it has air in it. So I'm stuck and don't know what should I do next. I think it might be my slave cylinder but I don't have a place or tools to do it myself. I'm pretty sure the entire tranny needs to be pulled out to remove the cylinder. I also read that most people change the clutch when they replace the slave.

View 4 RepliesI was wondering from the community if they ever hear a "motor" sound or like a "leveling" sound coming from the steering/instrument cluster area after you press the keyless start button (not starting the car). To me I was thinking it's like the car is maybe moving the steering column kinda like how luxury cars move the steering away to allow people to get in and out. But I don't believe the steering wheel is powered since I adjust it using the levers. Just wondering what this sound is for, worried something isn't right with that.
View 6 RepliesI have a 05 GLI, traction and ABS light are on. Previous owner said they replaced the front left sensor in question but the light still comes on. Is this a wiring issue or is there something I am missing? I inspected the sensor and it seems to be good.
View 8 RepliesSo recently my car alarm on my GLI has been going off randomly while I'm at work and school. The alarm goes off for about 5 minutes and then stops. Tonight it's going off constantly and I don't want to wake up my neighbors and I need to sleep tonight. It's going off every 5 minutes even after I disarm the car. I've been searching up why it's going off online and haven't had any luck finding the source. Also after a few minutes of unlocking it the car locks itself and then the alarm sounds.
View 8 RepliesSo i have a 2005 jetta gli that i just got a few months ago. it never came up just till recently with hurricane sandy but somewhere on the passengers side water is running into the vehicle from the a pillar past the glove box and making a pond out of the entire passengers side of the car. I've only found a few posts on here of it happening but with no good explanations of why or how to repair/fix it. all of the rubber looks good no debris or dirt is blocking anything from flowing.
View 8 RepliesSo I have a 2005 gli here is what's going on. The ac compressor is not engaging, the reticulation button is not lighting up when pressed in, the cruise control is not coming on and the daytime running lights are not turning off when the hand brake is engaged. And the radiator cooling fans to not spin when the engine is first started. I have checked all the fuses inside and over the battery. I have checked the relays ( they click when hooked up to power). I'm suspecting a bad fan control module. I've done some searching and that's the only thing I have found that would control the fans and the ac.
View 2 RepliesTwo weeks ago had to replace my ECU due to failing. Got a new one, reflashed my Uni software and the only code left after the ECU was replaced was the Air Intake Temp Sensor. That was 12 days ago. Today, get home. Car was running smooth all day. No issues. Go out and start the car and my idle is at 1300. (Normally 750) I have zero throttle response. I've unhooked the battery twice to do a reset, unplugged the throttle body sensor and plugged back in, still got nothing.
View 9 RepliesMy 2005 VW GLI has a fuel smell when I turn on the car ... I think it might be running rich or something I don't know.. All I know is I think the fuel and air mixture is not right ... What should I do? what should I check? will a re-tune do anything?
View 2 RepliesFor the life of me I can't figure out what is causing this smell. Its got a little over 65k miles and for whatever reason when I'm driving at a steady 70-75mph on the highway I get this garbage like smell that can last between 2-6 sec or so with or without the a/c on. It appears to have no effect on the car though. I'm not overheating, I'm not losing any power from the motor, my clutch is still very smooth and no signs of slipping, my idle is solid as a rock, and I can't find any fluids leaking at all. It does seem to happen more frequently as the outside temperature increases and it is a very potent smell. I just can't find the source. It has only happened while I'm on the highway and have had absolutely zero luck finding that same smell when I've got it parked with the hood up.

View 1 Repliesok i don't know if it is a problem or if it is alright but my 18t GLI makes a weird sound in third when I let off the gas. kind of like a whine/grind. I asked the guy i bought it from and he said it has been this way since he bought it too. It sounds like it might involve the turbo but thats just a guess. it only does it in third gear.
View 6 RepliesCar is making a clacking sound, and when i press on the gas to rev it several time my CEL flashes. pulled each wiring harness for my coil pack, and they all seem to be good still. What may be wrong? maybe spark plugs? if that was the case wouldn't pulling the wiring harness from each one pinpoint a certain plug that is loose? i changed my plugs last week, but had no problems until today when i started my car even drove it last night with no issues..???
View 5 RepliesMy fiance' can't drive stick so, I got her a 2005 jetta gli with tiptronic.. It's been fine up until today.. She was driving along, than it was like the engine revved up a little bit with out going faster, and now its making a slight whining sound, which also follows blipping the throttle in ANY gear, including park.. Its 1.8t, with about 135,000 on it.
