The other day my transmission was driving fine, until I stopped to let someone out. When I tried to throw it back into gear, it wouldn't engage at all, just had a slight grind almost like the sound of a chain coming off a bike (so I pushed back in the clutch and parked it). I haven't been having any issues with it nor have I been driving it hard.
View 2 RepliesSo over the past few months, my passenger side seat has been giving me some issues. When I pull the latch up to get into the back, sometimes the seat wouldn't click back into place when pushing it back down, it would just 'bounce'. After playing with the lever, up +down, eventually it would lock back in place. Yesterday however, I could not get it to lock in place, it just keep popping back up.
The seat also no longer folds forward, it is stuck in the _l position..
Would an exhaust leak throw CEL?
View 6 Replies20thae with a UR 7lb flywheel and spec stage 3 clutch. Got rid of the dual mass flywheel and installed a lightweight flywheel and spec clutch now i have a god awful noise that is dead ringer for a throw out bearing noise. talked to the spec guy at waterfest today and he told me that the dual mass acts as a dampener and this just doesn't make any sense in my head. touch the clutch pedal in any gear at any speed and the noise disappears.. uy at spec said it was in the trans and the only option was to change for a thicker gear oil. p.s. i took out the clutch and everything back apart and measured everything is oem thickness and the throw out bearing is in good shape.
View 7 RepliesAlright i have a 05 1.8t GLI I just installed a 42 draft designs full 3inch turboback, and a eurojet turbo inlet hose, after I put the stuff on my check engine light came on which I thought was gonna happen and is normal but my traction control light came on as well, the cars running better then ever and pulling harder then ever, but when i hooked it up to the computer I'm throwing 18 codes? Ive triple check to make sure everythings tight and in the right spot? What could be wrong?
View 5 RepliesOne day i was driving my pedal went flat to the floor ,then i noticed my brake fluid was low so then i tried adding more fluid and bleeding it n pumping the clutch i got pressure back, but now i hear chatter in the tranny and it wasn't doing that till after I bleed it. It will go into gear with the car off but as soon as the car starts in wont at all.
View 12 RepliesWell, driving down the road just like any other day. I go from 1st to 2nd gear. It feels like I missed a shift, no big deal decide to put it in 3rd. Missed 3rd gear...... weird, no big deal through it in 4th and was on my way. Got to a red light, no 1st or 2nd gear. Where 1st and 2nd gear are, it feels like there is nothing there when i tried to shift into gear. If I go into 3rd gear its now 1st gear, 4th gear is 2nd gear.Had a mechanic look at my car, and the linkage and clutch are fine. He feels that something minor broke inside the transmission.
A) What do you think might be broken?
B) How could this happen?
Driving my car like a baby, I am never hard on my clutch. No pre-warning, no bad sounds, and I have never had an issue with my transmission before. I am hoping I do not have to pull my transmission out but it looks like I may not have a choice...
Alright so basically i lost 1 and 2nd gear and i want to replace the transmission since this one already has 150k on it. The hard part is finding a used one because of the six speed! What models can i swap transmissions from? Like i heard i could use a 2003 Audi TT six speed transmission! What I can use to swap out my transmission or do i have to just look for a used one specifically for a 20th?

View 9 RepliesMy clutch was done about a year ago and the car now has a sort of "chattering" sound while the car is out of gear. Once you press the clutch down though the sound goes away. Is this just a by product of being converted from a Dual Mass Flywheel to a single, or is this a bearing issue or something otherwise that can be resolved?
View 4 RepliesWhen I am going into or downshifting to second gear in my GLI it makes a thud sound after I let out the clutch. It doesn't always happen and it does it if I just throw it down and if I don't have a perfect rev match. It just started a few days ago.
View 11 RepliesMy 337 transmission is acting a bit weird lately. Sometimes when I shift the gear from neutral into the first gear too quickly when the car is stationary (with the clutch fully pressed), the gear or the transmission makes a distinguish sound. I don't know how to describe this sound. It sounds like gears knocking each other in order for it to engage or set in place. It sounds different from shifting gear without fully pressing down the clutch. When I took the car to the mechanic, he test drove the car around the block but didn't hear anything strange. So he told me to wait till this problem becomes worse and happens more frequently.
View 2 RepliesSo yesterday I drove to my friends house b4 work. My car started up just fine no problem. I was at his house for maybe an hour and as I was going to leave I tried to start my car and it was dead? All my lights work got a jump. Still nothing so today I took my starter off and had it tested( fail). Paid for a new one and put it back on. Hooked everything up. Went really smooth. But went to start it and it won't engage the flywheel? Am I missing something?
View 1 RepliesSo my parking brake doesn't engage when the lever is pulled. The light lights up on the dash saying the parking brake is engaged but the brake I not engaged. It hasn't been a huge problem for me since my Jetta is a 6-speed but I would like to fix it some time soon. Looking for a DIY? I did a quick search and didn't find anything really.

View 5 RepliesJust put the 6.0 back in the truck, engine working good now. Went to take it for a test drive and the transmission will not engage in any gear. I don't have any codes coming up on my scanner. Can not figure out why the transmission is not working from engine R&R.
- Fluid level is good
- Swapped wiring harness from my other truck and still nothing
Five months ago I purchased a Saturn with 60,000 miles. Yesterday upon leaving my driveway it wouldn't shift out of first gear. Turned around , put it in the garage & tried to backup, put it in reverse & the vehicle would not move and the tranny made a loud whine. For the past two weeks the tranny made a loud " clunk " when it shifted into second, also on the highway it wouldn't shift into high gear & was running at 2500 rpm. Is this an electronic issue or more ?
