Gen 3 Prius (Audio/Electronics) :: 2011 Satellite Signal Comes In And Out

Oct 17, 2013

I've got a 2011 five with the tech package and the satellite signal comes in and out every few seconds. Hiss, music, hiss, music.

It does this until I turn the car off and on. Sometimes it takes more than once.

Changing to FM, AM, USB and back doesn't fix it. Called XM and they reset it 3 times and it didn't fix it.

It's been doing it at least once a week now.

Gen 3 Prius (Audio/Electronics) :: Satellite Radio Fades In And Out

Every now and then, my satellite radio fades in and out. I cannot pin it on rain as it sometimes happens when it is clear. I can hear programming, but only 1 second samples, with fuzz for a second then again, 1 second of programming.

Gen 2 Prius (Audio/Electronics) :: 2008 - Location Of Satellite Receiver?

I just bought a satellite radio-ready 2008 Prius. Although the audio system does not toggle to satellite radio when I push the AM/SAT button, there is a satellite radio antennae on the dashboard.

Gen 3 Prius (Audio/Electronics) :: Storing Favorite Songs On Satellite Radio?

Is there some way to store favorite songs? My stand alone radios would do that and I believe Ford satellite radios will do that. I can't figure out how to get this one to do it. I'm afraid it's an area where Toyota is much inferior to many others.

Prius C (Audio/Electronics) :: System Responded, No Network Signal

I pushed the handsfree button on the wheel today and said "Call". System responded after a bit with "No Network Signal". I tried to dial via the nav screen and it tried connecting for a bit and then just stopped. I was streaming music via bluetooth without a problem.

Gen 3 Prius (Audio/Electronics) :: FM No Longer Receives Any Signal Just Hisses

I have a 2010 Prius with the Type B radio, the basic radio with the mute button. One day last week the FM just quit working. AM works fines. Do not have a satellite subscription so cannot say about that, but the preview still work on satellite.

Gen 3 Prius (Audio/Electronics) :: Factory Installed Radio, Signal Faded In And Out

Today while driving around on the back roads the radio signal faded in and out quite a bit. I don't remember it happening before like that. I was curious if a Pioneer head unit would have the same issue due to using the same antenna or if it's just the factory head unit causing the bad reception.

Gen 3 Prius (Audio/Electronics) :: 2011 - Music Through Bluetooth Without Nav Possible?

I have a 2011 Prius III without Nav. It has bluetooth pairing, and pairs with the Galaxy Nexus phone (android) to make and receive calls just fine. However, there seems to be no way to play music through the phone? (I currently have an audio cable which I plug into my phone. But for various reasons, this is far from an ideal solution for me.)

I have contacted the Toyota dealership where I bought the Prius and they seem to think this does not work. However, can this really be the case?

(1) Is there something I'm missing in order to play music through bluetooth on my phone?
(2) If there isn't, what are my after-market options for doing so? (I don't need navigation or anything else.)

Gen 3 Prius (Audio/Electronics) :: 2011 - JBL Head Unit Keeps Dying

My JBL head unit keeps dying. My 2011 Prius Three, not III, is currently on its 3rd head unit, and this one is dying also. About once per year, the head unit starts displaying gibberish on the LCD, often with horizontal lines marching upwards. As the problem persists, the display gets worse. Finally, the buttons start malfunctioning. Pressing the power button might eject a CD, pushing a radio preset button might switch to CD, etc.

Gen 3 Prius (Audio/Electronics) :: 2011 - Amplifier Went Into Protect Mode And Continued

I have a 2011 non-nav non-JBL Prius, which I got used.

I first noticed this thing after installing an aftermarket head unit, and I could see that various connections behind the head unit plugged into it (including those going to the speaker), but I just left it be. I used a Metra wiring harness to hook up the head unit to the factory wiring. Since then, I installed aftermarket component speakers up front, an Axxess interface to get the steering wheel controls back, and recently an amplifier. I didn't, at that point in time, want to run new wire to all of the speakers, so I ran speaker wire from

Prius V (Audio/Electronics) :: Add Pause Or Wait To Phone Number Display Audio

Can Display Audio's phone interface accept pauses or waits (P or W) in the phone number? My phone uses them for voicemail passwords, eg dial the number, pause a few seconds, and then dial the password. So far it does not work at all through the bluetooth interface when initiated through voice command ("call xxx xxx xxxx pp yyyy#") or through the car's screen. I tried to directly store a similar number into the Display Audio "stored" numbers but could not find an option for the P pause.

Gen 4 Prius (Audio/Electronics) :: Audio System To Reboot Itself By Pressing Power Button?

I Learned on a Toyota Avalon web page that you can force your audio system to reboot itself by pressing the power button for three seconds. On the Avalon, it only works on the "Limited" levels. I tried it tonight on my Prius Four and it worked. Great to use when your audio gets "confused" and you just want to clear it and start over.

Gen 3 Prius (Audio/Electronics) :: 2014 - Whenever Stopping Audio System Pauses The Playback?

I've been using MP3 CDs in autos for some years. Now I have a 2014 Prius 4 with whatever audio system is standard in that model. Generally all is good. Gen 3 Prius (Audio/Electronics) :: MP3 File Size Limitation For USB Drive Audio Playback?

I presently use a 16GB USB drive that has about 240 MB of 2 to 10 MB mp3 files and it works well. The reason I ask is that SirisXM is going to drop my favorite channel (69) and I was thinking of making some large files of audio capture before it goes away. Large because its easier to make and play a few than many. There might be a file size limitation (not USB storage limitation) due to the amount of memory in the audio system.

Sometimes in the bright sunlight, I cannot see the audio display or the small AC display that shows which vents the air is coming out from. Is there any way to illuminate these displays? Will some LEDs around them work or make it worse? I'm driving a C two. I have no intention of upgrading to an aftermarket sound system; I just want a simple inexpensive way to see the info on the screen.
