Is there a way to change the default difference on the dynamic radar cruise control from 3 bars to 1 bar?
I think it's annoying to have to change it every time that I start the vehicle and activate cruise control.
Everytime, I get into my V I play my various podcast (via iPhone). However, its takes about a minute (as compared to my wife's RX which connects instantaneously). Why it takes such a long time? Bluetooth is always on and its be "paired".
Also, when I turn off audio, the screen simply shows blue screen with "audio off". Is there a way that I can always default to the map screen instead of going to apps --> maps --> show map? Not a biggie, but a nice to have for me.
Do not like having the nav screen always be on especially since we rarely use it. Would much rather look at the audio screen. How do I make audio screen default?

View 4 RepliesFor the second-generation Prius : I was wondering if there is some way to make the screen stay on the mode that you are in and not switch back to consumption/ energy by itself all the time? For example you push audio to see the radio station info or the CD track info and it will stay in audio mode until you change it. Or if you want it to stay in climate mode and not Have it change back to energy/consumption after about five or 10 seconds.

On our old Prius, the display would simply change back to the map view after ~5-10 seconds. The new car does not seem to do this. No luck searching the manuals or the Internet. Is it possible?
I've looked in the mounds of user manuals as well as searching here but can't find the answer to this question: How do you keep the EV screen showing on the upper dash after turning on radar cruise control? Even if I switch back to any of the EV screens the dang radar ready or the active radar screen takes over no matter how many times I go back to the EV screens. I have already set the option in setup to not automatically return to the previous screen on the 7" HDD screen.

View 18 RepliesI was driving at 65mph and decided to coast and slow my speed to 50mph, as there is congested traffic ahead. I know the radar will adjust my speed according but I wanted a slower set speed anyway. I held the cruise control lever in its downward position (thinking it was going to cause the car to coast and slow) Oh Oh! This thing is applying the brakes hard! I instinctively press the gas but it kept decelerating, no affects at all except the tranny downshifting or engine revving. I couldn't tell which, the radio was loud and it happened so quickly.
Moral to the story- I guess I should have read the owners manual. The manual say every .75 second the lever is held down the cars speed will be dropped 5 mph. My question is- since the car was applying the brakes and I overreacted and pressed the accelerator at the same time, was there a possibility of damaging a component? I know these cars are engineered extremely well.
I have an '07 Prius without factory Nav and about a month ago I had to replace the MFD because of this (it still displayed fine, just wouldn't respond to touches).
I realized that I wouldn't be able to fully control the A/C or audio anymore, pair a Bluetooth phone, etc. So I got the service tech at the dealership to give me the part number I needed, and I went online looking for it.
What I was wondering is whether this failure is common?
Does dynamic radar cruise control come standard on 2013-2015 RX350 F Sports. What options are standard on the F Sport.
View 1 RepliesSo yesterday we had a bit of snow north of the city. I was driving on the highway and suddenly my cruise control deactivated and I got a message to clean the radar. Then I had PCM flash every second or so. I was really frustrated because this is a MINIMAL amount of snow and it's not even below zero. I'm hoping that this isn't an ongoing issue with these cars? Any solution besides getting out of the car and cleaning it? When I got home I saw that there was a layer of ice on the Lexus logo on the front of the car.....

One feature I am missing is all speed DRCC. In my car the cruise disengage at 25mph. I see the feature I am looking for is available in some other higher models and the Lexus technology video's says 'when your call is equipped with all speed DRCC'.
I would like to know if it's possible to add this feature in my 2016 ES by any means? I searched and couldn't find any other useful info.
Symptom: Dynamic Radar Cruise Control (DRCC) fails to slow down the vehicle, (with slowing down or stopped vehicle in front) when DISPlay button on the steering wheel is pressed several times after DRCC is set.
The issue was tested several times with my 2015 GS350 AWD, Canadian model. Maybe it only applies to me, or perhaps it applies to all models with Lexus Dynamic Radar Cruise Control equipped.
Tests: Speed up, turn on main cruise control, and start DRCC when there's no vehicle in front, set to desired cruise speed, set the distance range control to desired range. Now, press the DISPlay button on the handle a few times (5-6, maybe flip through the whole menus, long and short presses. You are all set. Now, drive up to a stopped vehicle or moving vehicle closing to a stop (or slowing down). 4 to 5 out of 10 times, I found out that the DRCC does not sense the vehicle in front, not applying the necessary brake. The screen (where vehicle in front is pictured) shows the vehicle in front at times, other times, The sensing screen is just left blank. Still, the vehicle is on cruise mode and keeps the set speed, however the it acts like a regular cruise control, NOT the dynamic radar one when approaching a slowing down vehicle. At times, pre-collision warning beeps if the vehicle in too close, still no brake. When I says 4 to 5 out of 10 times, the other 5 to 6 out of 10 times, it works beautifully as it is suppsed to. (i.e. slowing the vehicle accordingly)
I tested several times at the 45km/h (30 miles/h), just enough to get the DRCC on, day and night, the vehicle failed to slow down in front of a slowing down vehicle (or a stopped vehicle). At times, the pre-collision warning beeps when the vehicle is at a close distance. I am suspecting that when DISPLAY button is pressed during Dynamic Radar Cruise Control is ON, DRCC fails to work as it should. Not every time, but several times.
I first experienced this at a highway moving at 100km (62 miles) and almost rear ended the vehicle in front if I didn't quicky changed the lane, and warning beep alerted.
I know I shouldn't rely on these technology and I do not, however, if this is a software issue, it should be corrected.
I've been trying to find out when exactly this issue would happen and record on my phone, but I couldn't. I was able to record one occasion on my cell phone, however, it was at night and the vehicle in front was actually a parked vehicle with the rear lights off. (although I think it should've still worked). I am still trying to come up with exact occasion for this issue and get it on video. (Speed/DRCC ON timing/AC/Lights/etc)
I have a 2010 package IV not 4 because it is a 2010 and only 2010 used uppercase roman numerals for model designation, with jbl non nav stereo. I have been having issues with the volume control not working so was looking into upgrading it to a a jbl with nav since I can get a good deal on the stereo and nav antenna. My question is will the existing wire harness support this and will a unit from a 2012-2013 fit a 2010?
View 6 RepliesI have a 2010 prius v with adv. Tech. I noticed that I cannot turn off radar if I want to use regular cruise control sometimes when there is denser traffic. I know that it can be turned off on a Toyota sienna if you press and hold the radar distance button. I've tried with the prius, no luck.
View 19 RepliesI recently purchased a 2013 prius two. My building's parking garage is very long (full city block) and narrow, and I have to back out of it each time I leave. While I understand the benefits of the beeping, it is SO LOUD! Is there any way to lower the volume? I know I can take it to the dealer to get it switched to one beep, but all I really want to do is make it quieter, not go away. Alternatively, where the speaker the sound comes out of is? Maybe I can muffle it with tape or something.
View 4 RepliesMy 05 has a problem with the recirculate and defrost buttons on the wheel. The recirculate button will sometimes toggle the MFD between the consumption screen and the energy monitor screen like the info button does and won't change the recirculate light on the dash at all. Sometimes it will do nothing, and other times it works normal changing from outside air to recirculate. Also the defrost button will sometimes turn on the windshield defroster with 1 push then turn on the rear defroster with a second push and both will go off on the 3rd push.
Other times both defrost buttons will do nothing or work normally. When the wheel buttons are acting up the MFD will control both the recirculate and defrost functions normally so I don't think the MFD is the problem. The 12 volt battery has been checked and is good at 12.4 volts and there is no malfunction lights or codes set in the system. All the other buttons on the wheel function normally. What to check?
I just bought a 2014 Prius Three on Monday.
Yesterday, I accidentally hit the Voice Command button. It went to the screen and I got out of it. However then I couldn't hear any sound. The radio was clearly playing but no sound. When I pressed source it just showed a symbol in top right corner. I guess I should have thought to just turn the car off and restart because when I got home and did that, it worked fine.
My main question is about about the iphone 5, bluetooth, and Voice Controls.
I have bluetooth and Personal Hotspot enabled (so I do not have it plugged in to usb outlet) on my iphone enabled but it appears that I cant say "Play (Artist)" and have it play that from my iphone. It says something about an unsupported media device.
When I push the button on my Iphone and tell it to play a song, it does play a song but not the song I requested. It also shows on the car display that it is calling myself.
Voice commands for calling seem to work but I can't figure out if it is not possible to play songs using voice commands with an iphone or what the issue is.
I am a new Prius 2010 owner - One question - I read in the manual you should not carry your remote control near your cell phone since it could cause decrease battery life. Does it matter if cell phone is off? I always carried by Camry remote control in my purse with my off cell phone. Camry is 7 years old and battery still works.
