2013 MKVI golf TDI with DSG. I use the manual mode a lot and now the shifter makes a squeak noise and is no longer a smooth movement. Ive attached a video link below of the noise.
I've tried spraying silicone lube down into the shifter and it hasn't made any difference. How I can maybe take the shifter apart and grease it?

So I have been noticing the spring when the car is neutral is VERY slow to react or the car doesn't center back if you move it side to side. What causes this in terms of which shifter spring/cable controls that? I'm not sure if that piece is in the car under the shifter OR in the engine bay. I'm thinking the springs or plastic over the years is finally shot so shifting has become rather sluggish. Gets worse as the car heats up.

My Pruis v makes a humming noise. Sometimes. Doesn't happen all the time. Don't know when it will happen. When it does happen, the car makes a humming noise. High pitch and low pitch-no longer than 2 minutes. Seems to be coming from the right side of the vehicle. It is embarassing when we have friends in the car, the noise comes on , and the friend asks, 'what's that noise' and i shrug my shoulders-i don't know.Took it to service. Manager said he has to hear it to determine what/where it is coming from. If it isn't making the noise, he can't tell me where it is coming from. Took it back today and now we have a loaner so he can drive it for a couple of days to try to hear the noise.
View 7 RepliesIt's been about 2 year almost. The shifter is difficult shifting from default position to Drive position. It's like there is some (plastic) obstacles on the way, right at the turning point. I have to force it to the drive position, and I hear the pretty loud clicking sound
Sometimes it also stuck in drive position (if I don't force it back), but will come back to default position in 10 seconds by itself. It is unlikely some external objects got into there I believe.

View 10 RepliesJust noticed this morning that when I move slowly there is a noise consistent with the cars movement in the rear right side of the car. What could be causing this back there? Almost sound like if the car was moving while the brake was engaged.

RR after washing it the window wouldn't go up again it just made a grinding noise inside but no movement when you press the switch, I watched a few videos on how to open the panel and I did and found this wire lying around like this I don't know what to do from here as the car must go for a test for registration and they check the windows. do i need to buy the entire back panel?
View 2 RepliesOur 2005 V8 no longer makes any sounds relating to the blinkers in use, seat belts unbuckled, headlights are on, hazard lights, etc. The only sound it's kept are the ones the parking sensors make.
View 7 Replies'04 RX330 AWD 116k...Recently noticed the shifter is no longer going into drive. When placed in the "D" position (on the right hand side of the "4-D" slot), the dash indicator reads "4". I have verified the trans is only shifting as far as 4th (70mph=3000rpm w/stock tires). ECT/Snow is not turned on.
To clarify, the problem is not physical/mechanical as far as the shifter itself...the shifter will drop to the correct "D" position, but the car says, thinks, and acts like its in "4".
When I went to put my car into gear today (automatic gear box, 2004) the gear shifter was very hard to move, as if whatever automated its ease is no longer functioning. And i'm pretty sure the steering and brakes are not performing with their power aided functions either. Is this a set of servos all on one line somewhere? Fried? Just a fuse?

View 1 RepliesThe front end makes a squeak when you hit a bump. Not all bumps, but some bigger bumps will make a little squeak. The car is a 2012 passat se. Sitting on h&r sport springs, and stock shocks and struts. 35k miles.

It recently got very, very cold here and the drivers door makes a loud unlubricated squeak every time we open it. It has warmed up but the squeak remains. What kind of lube to use on the door hinges? Silicon spray or something else?
View 4 RepliesI recently noticed a rattling coming from my intake manifold and with little research I discovered it was the intake shifter rod. I ordered the new updated bushings and installed them today and the rod continues to rattle just as bad. My car only has 90k and I am unsure what to do to fix the noise. I am hesitant to order a whole new shifter rod because it could be the manifold itself too worn. I am just curious if there is anything that I may have overlooked or if there is anything I can do.

A few observations:
- I would say it is coming from the belt on the left side, but I can't narrow it down
- It doesn't sound like the hamster wheel sounds I've seen in the archives, but I haven't ruled it out
- It doesn't change when the clutch is depressed
- It tends to go away after a 30+ minute drive
Lately when I am driving in parking lots or parallel parking my steering makes a noise when it is close to the lock. It is a ticking type sound, very hard to describe. Never drove a car with electric assist so I am not sure what is different really.
