View 17 RepliesI saw most bmw and mercedes cars all have a very small gap between tire and fender. My last two cars are Lexus, one 2011 IS and the other one is 2015 GS F sport.
The gap between is tire and fender for my 2011 IS is huge, which makes the car super ugly. Anyway, IS is a terrible car, so I sold the car even before the factory warranty expires. Then I thought the gap should be smaller and the car should sit lower if I have the F sport package. After I received the new GS F sport, I realize the gap is still huge, at least the gap size is way bigger than what's shown in Lexus' ad brochure.
why Lexus don't make its suspension as short as bmw or mercedes? Or even Audi. I had a Audi before two Lexus cars when I was still in graduate school. I dont remember I was bothered by the ugly looking of the tires.
Need some tips as to what's the source, basically over time this winter pulling in and out of the alley did a number on the black fairings under my '10 mk6.
i decided to take them off. Now i'm driving home to day in the wet snow and the C.E.L came on, car drove home fine. I'm just a bit irritated.....i'm certain its got something to do with the exposed wires closer to the passenger side underneath.
Have a problem When i make a slight turn to the left sounds like the tire is rubbing the inner fender. Don't do it all the time. The tire is not rubbing.
View 4 RepliesSo my engine light came on today while I was out so when I got home I plugged in my OBD2 reader and it gave me a P0441 code which in my Haynes manual says "Evaporative emission control system- incorrect purge flow." Before I got my scanner, I had the engine light come on and I took it to VW. It was the same thing last time. I couldn't quite understand the poor explanation given from the VW guy and so now that that code ran again.

Lights work, everything functions correctly, except my headlights don't level. I've seen some threads refer to it as the "dance".
I have the light out warning on the dash and every time i start my car it says "AFS FAILURE" or something across those lines.
I replaced my headlight level sensor and made sure the level sensor is pointing the correct way (toward the driver side) and that didn't fix it.
My car is lowered, but this issue didn't happen until recently. I do also have Euro Headlights, these were installed months ago. Way before this issue came up aswell.
Started my car early in the morning, nothing happened. I paused thinking the battery was shot, but then realized that there was smoke coming out of my fender... I jumped out of the car, disconnected the battery terminals and rushed over to see what the hell was on fire/smoking. I popped the hood expecting the engine bay to be engulfed in flames, but to find it was coming out of the inner fender. I looked down by the wheel and the brake line to the caliper was on fire.. I put the fire out and sat there with zero idea on what happened.

"Ignition Coil C Primary/Secondary Circuit"
I saw that this might be the coil, the wiring or the ground? I had my coils go on my 1.8t Jetta and that was pretty distinct as the car ran like crap.
The car seems to run fine, I have had the code for 2 days. It went off this morning and it came on again this afternoon.
I was installing the driver's side oem storage drawer and started by removing the 4 bolts that mount the rails to the car. While I was removing the seat rails, my outboard rail somehow slid all the way back and now seems "locked" into position. Basically, the inboard seat rail wants to slide when I lift the lever, however, the outboard seems to be caught and won't move. From the outboard rail perspective, the seat is all the way forward and will not shift back at all. How to deal with this? The pins that move down into the rail to hold the seat in place aren't what is holding it up. My guess is the edge of something in the track is catching.
View 4 RepliesHaving rust issues? I just bought the car and noticed some was touched up with the rear hatch - under the window, right by the seal. Also, right by where the bottom of the door and front fender meet. Looks like it's inside, on the body/frame, not the fender.
I'll probably take it to dealer and hope to have it taken care of. Carfax came back clear so I'm pretty sure no work has been done on it before that would cause this.
I just got my car back from the body shop after a front end accident and they replaced the bumper, hood, and headlights. However they said the fenders were fine. Now i'm noticing about a quarter inch difference (on both sides) where the bumper meets the fender. Could this be because the fenders bent slightly too or because it's a brand new bumper?
View 11 RepliesI have a 2005 Jetta 2.0 BEV GLS. I got a code P0302 for misfire on cylinder 2. I am pretty sure it's the Ignition coil. I live in Canada and my autoparts store only has BWD brand. I have read this is a crappy brand.
View 1 RepliesSo I was getting p0420 and p0430. I installed new hi flow cats on and did coil pack 1 & 3 since I was getting misfires there. Erased the codes after all the installs and they stayed off. It's been a little over a month later since the installs and my CEL came back on, scanned it and I'm getting same 2 codes again
View 10 RepliesThe Electronic Power Control light in my 1999.5 Jetta GLS VR6 came on a day or two ago. Now it hesitates like crazy even after I've already pulled out and am trying to accelerate. Is there any common problem/malfunction that would cause the light to come on, and is there any correlation between the light and this symptom? Also, the check engine light came on.

View 24 RepliesSo just came out to my car this morning and noticed this horrible paint peeling on my rear drive side fender!! Yes I'm lowered but have stock wheels and 225 tires, impossible to run the outside fender. What caused this? The paint is like paper is just flakes off when I touch it.
View 24 RepliesI have a Jetta Mk IV, yesterday I went to go drive it and just as I pulled out of the driveway it started running rough, so I pulled back in the driveway and the coolant temperature sensor light came on, then the check engine light. and then it died. Then today I tried starting it, and it will only start and run if I have the gas pedal all the way to the floor, and it runs really rough. Then it will die. I thought maybe the coolant temp sensor since the light came on. I replaced that, and it still does it. I'm leaning towards a head gasket.
View 2 RepliesI own 2001 2.0 Golf (first car) and lately as I drive I constantly hear this noise, it's very obnoxious, sounds like a washing machine going with a hard object in it. It's not continuous, but it doesn't happen rarely. Whenever I go over any bump, the slightest crack etc. I'm guessing it has something to do with the suspension? I'm not really sure since I'm still learning about cars...

I was swapping out my side markers today and noticed that my passenger's side has one but not the driver's side. Didn't think to check for something like that during delivery although from looking at the one from the passenger's side, it doesn't seem hard to believe that it could have fallen out due to spirited driving.

Whats the cheapest route to go about this? I bought the car in June, so wondering if warranty would even cover tires? Is it worth a try? Not sure if I should take to the dealer to check it out, or just a town fair tire place.
View 13 RepliesWhy a 2012 Honda Civic might catch on fire? I have had it since October 2012, and it had a little over 4,000 miles on it. Yesterday I was driving it for 15 minutes, and it began smoking, and something was on fire under the hood. It is NOT one of the ones that was recalled for the faulty O-ring that caused oil leakage. I checked, and my car is not under recall for anything. Just out of nowhere it catches on fire while I am driving??? What is up with that???
