Rear wiper stays on regardless of switch position. It runs as if the switch was on - intermittently. No critters chewing, Stops with the fuse pulled. We get lots of snow and I need it, rain-x won't cut it. It has 80k on the clock and everything works perfectly. the wiper homes between runs. Disconnected the battery for 5 mins for fun. Is this switch prone to this kind of failure?
View 1 Replies TPMS light was on. It was the spare , added more air. Then checked the other tires, one was low too and added air. Now TPMS light stays off no matter what position the TPMS switch is in. The light used to come on when switch was in the 'wrong' position.

So noticed my cruise control does not work when I turn switch to on position the green light in cluster does not come on what are some problems that I could look into and also any example of using turn signal Bulbs in the head lights as drl lights instead of it running off of the actually headlight bulb?
View 9 RepliesThe rear wiper on my wife's 20th stopped working the other day. I checked the fuse and it was fine. I pulled off the rear panel and got to the wiring. I don't have a Bentley so I'm not sure what wire does what. I tested the wires and the far left is a switch 12V and the far right is the ground. The center two didn't show any voltage with or without the wiper on. When should these wire see power? What else should I check?

I'm getting some fluid in the rear driver side headliner as well so the break must be there. First step is to pull the headliner.
View 4 RepliesI have a 2003 Golf GTI VR6. Over probably a year, my rear wiper began working only intermittently. Eventually it stopped working at all. Based on lotsa googling, here's the troubleshooting I've done so far to investigate:
1. Pushed the stalk forward, listened for relay *tick* sound. I didn't hear the tick. Wiper doesn't move.
2. Went outside the car and didn't hear any sounds coming from the wiper motor.
3. Pushed stalk all the way forward, rear wiper washer was activated and works fine. Wiper doesn't move.
4. Checked wiper fuses. No indication of blown fuse.
5. Pulled the relay and inspected. No burn marks or loose wires.
6. Ran voltage through the relay and relay opens and closes without issue.
From what I've read, the fact that the relay appears to work fine in tests but doesn't work in the car suggests either the stalk or a wiring harness failure. I've also read washer fluid can leak in to the motor and cause it to stop working, but that seemed like a less likely cause. What do you all think?
Weird issue on my MK4 GTI. So it started out just as the rear windshield sprayer would work intermittently. Then the same happened to the front one. Then sometimes the rear windshield wiper would just come on by itself when hitting bumps on the highway. Now sometimes the front windshield wipers won't work, the rear doesn't work at all, and neither sprayers work.
So, where's best to start? I figured maybe the toggle switch is worn out. I haven't looked to see how hard it is to get out/test. I assume there's some linkage or wires I can get to once I remove the trim under the steering wheel to do a simple continuity test and see if the switch is working. Or would relays cause this? I wouldn't think that many relays could fail this quickly while running at normal voltages...
This morning on my way to work it was quite cold (~2 degrees F) and my car had some snow left on it from yesterday's snowstorm. I warmed the car up and had the rear defroster on.
When I went to use the rear wiper to clear some snow it got stuck in the down position and won't work. I tried manually clearing any snow and now the rear window is clear but the blade still won't move. I turned it on and off several times and nothing. I turned the car off and on again and still nothing.
Is it possible the motor is fried? This is a 2010 RX with ~68k miles.
I'm having some sort of electrical malfunction on the back of my Mk4 Gti. The right rear tail light, license plate light and back windshield wiper doesn't work. I replaced the bulbs several times and they keep blowing.
View 2 RepliesI have a 2002 Suburban 1500LT with rear wiper, and it has intermittent capabilities. Recently the rear wiper arm appears to be trying to park over and over when the switch is turned to off. Once in awhile it will make a full pass but then it goes back to the endless park syndrome.
View 7 RepliesMy 2004 Prius has its wiper arms currently sitting a bit higher than they usually are, we originally purchased the car like this, it isn't a big issue, just annoying as the previous owner purposely used smaller wiper size so they don't obstruct the path and what not.
Anyhow, I want to replace the entire blade, but I want to buy the original size, thus adjusting the arms back to the normal position they are supposed to be in, how I can do this? From my understanding in other vehicles, there usually is a screw that you loosen up, and than adjust the arm as you wish, just not sure if this is the case with the Prius.
The other day, I had the wipers going, every time when they went back down to the "rest" position, they made this weird movement with loud noises, JUST want to make sure that it is normal, seeking some feedback before going to the dealer.

RR after washing it the window wouldn't go up again it just made a grinding noise inside but no movement when you press the switch, I watched a few videos on how to open the panel and I did and found this wire lying around like this I don't know what to do from here as the car must go for a test for registration and they check the windows. do i need to buy the entire back panel?
View 2 RepliesI have a 2004 MK4 Golf 2.0l that's been throwing a CPS error code. My brother was going to come down to visit for a weekend. He had done some diagnostic work and had me order a timing kit and a camshaft position sensor from ECS.
So, with my assembled parts, I brought the car in to a reputable shop. Anyway, the guy does the work and now the car is ready and saying that the CPS took nearly 4 hours more of work.
MK7 So it rained for the first time since I bought the car. when pressing downward on the wiper lever it, the wiper arms began to shutter/jump when going back down to the rest position. When pressing up on the lever to just let them go on while driving I didn't experience this. Is this normal? She's only a week old.
View 16 RepliesI picked up a 2004 GTI not long ago for pretty cheap because it had a few issues. I am working my way through them. However, having 3rd gear issue.
All other gears are perfectly fine but there is way less play in the shifter in the 3rd gear position and I have to hold the shifter in position until the clutch is engaged (pedal up) to avoid the gear grinding. Once the clutch is engaged it stays in 3rd gear fine. It doesn't matter if I am moving from 2nd to 3rd or 4th to 3rd. Same deal. I have aligned the shifter several times using to proper procedures with no effect.
It never grinds 3rd with the clutch disengaged (so the synchro is fine?) and it will bang shift no problem. Oh and the clutch is less than a year old. It was installed by a shop before I bought the car. It's not really a big deal, but I would like to fix it. If I have to swap the trans that's fine, but need to figure out if it is a trans or linkage issue first.
When I have the mirror tilt feature active for both mirrors(left switch position) the driver side mirror does not return to the preset position. The passenger side works fine but I have to manually reposition the driver side so I know it is not in the mechanism, it seems it is not sensing the transmission in drive but only on the driver side. How hard is it to replace the faulty sensor or whatever the failed part?

View 8 RepliesI went test drove a R32 today and I noticed when the headlight switch is in the off position, the HID came on when I release the hand brake, is this normal? I thought the DRL suppose to be the inner two halogen lights not the HID. This way, having a switch is kinda pointless except to turn on/off the the instrumental lights because you have the HID on whenever you release the parking brake, doesn't matter if the switch is in the off position or the on/lowbeam position.

So I normally drive in D, and I use the tow/haul switch when trailing...so under what circumstances does the normal person need to manually shift through 5 gear positions using M, and the 5-position switch?
