Golf IV / Jetta IV :: Code P1340 - Cam / Crankshaft Sensor Out Of Sequence

Mar 19, 2015

So I started up my 12v VR6 the other morning and it sounded like a Subie. Threw the awful code P1340: cam/crankshaft sensor out of sequence, and took it to the shop. I'm being charged $1900 for servicing the timing chains, only. Doesn't include water pump and clutch like every other shop does. Reason for this is because in Montana, no one works on these cars. So I this is my only route. I had to choose this small euro repair shop or the VW dealer.

But, they just recently called me and told me I need to get the timing gears changed or whatever? They want to charge an additional $600 or so to do that. Are these gears a real problem? or are they just trying to F me. I mean, $1900 should make this car flawless as it is so I feel that they are attempting to rip me off even more.

Golf IV / Jetta IV :: Won't Start - Bad Crankshaft Position Sensor?

My car doesn't start right now and a shop diagnosed it as an ecu, but I'm starting to think that is not the case. The tach doesn't move when I try to start it and pushing the gas doesn't change it, so I'm thinking it is the crankshaft position sensor. Unfortunately, down at school, I don't have access to a jack, so I was wondering if there is any way to get to the cpa without a jack? I'd rather not have it towed to another shop.

Also, my coil pack has a huge crack in it. Could that be causing my problem? And my sai has some really frayed wires and I'd rather not replace it if I don't have to because these repairs are really adding up, but could that be causing problems too? it's not causing gas mileage issues and I live in an emissions-free county, so simply not allowing me to pass emissions isn't a problem.

Golf IV R32 :: Code P1340 And P1347 Showed Up For Camshaft Sensors

I am slamming my head on this. I have a 2004 R32 with two codes for camshaft sensors. I noticed and replaced the timing chains because they were stretched out and a tensioner was not holding the chains. I still have these faults in the system. I also checked with my Ross-Tech and in measure block 208 and 209, third blocks that there is nothing showing. Both coming up blank.

I then brought it to the dealer and telling them that the chains were replaced for this reason. They have checked the timing to make sure it is correct and timed. They checked the wiring and they said there is a connection from the sensor to ECU. They replaced the ECU but still have the same issue. They too cannot see the blocks for 208 and 209.

They informed me today that there is a confusion of the signal wire from both of the sensors reading 11 volts on each signal wire but the voltage from the ECU is 5 volts. They asked me to cut the wire from the ECU and check the output directly from the ECU and that too is showing 11 volts with key on. Key off shows nothing. They don't know if that is correct or not.

4Runner/GX470 :: Crankshaft Sensor Code P0335 - CEL Comes On And Go Out

My check engine light comes on in the morning (P0335 - crankshaft sensor) and will sometimes go out in the afternoon (after driving for a bit. I replaced the crankshaft sensor (figured what the heck) but didn't cure the code. Puzzles me with the on and off check engine light.

Passat (B5) :: P0322 Crankshaft Sensor Code Detected

My car is an AUG 1.8t with 153K miles and it has been running great since the timing belt change last summer. It died while driving it earlier today. I pulled a P0322 code which looks like it's for a crankshaft position sensor. I cleared the code.

After the car sat for about an hour I was able to restart the car and drive the car two miles back to my house. On the way back I felt the engine shudder and got an Engine Workshop warning, no CEL. I scanned anyway and found a pending P0322. Once I shut the car off it cranks but will not start.

Golf IV / Jetta IV :: Check Engine Light With Error Codes 17748, P1340

I'm having some problems with my 05 1.8T GTI. I've had a check engine light for about 3 months and finally got a diagnostic tool (VAG V-checker). Right now I have one code 17748.P1340 Camshaft position sensor-G40/engine speed sensor -G28: incorrect allocation.

I researched a little bit and talked with some of the guys at the local VW dealership. From what I learned this could be related to (obviously) faulty camshaft position sensor and/or faulty engine speed sensor. So I've replaced both of these sensors and even cleaned the Mass Airflow sensor.

I cleared the code and after driving about 5 minutes the code came back. Also I recently had a P0300 and P0304 cylinder 4 misfire default code. So I've changed all of the ignition coils too since I heard they were recalled a while back.

Lumina :: 98 3.1 24x - Code 336 Indicating Crankshaft Positioning Sensor Out Of Limits

recently started getting a 336 code indicating crankshaft positioning sensor out of limits.

removed the 7x sensor but it seems ok and the car does start ok. checked the ECM input of the 24x sensor and I never get anything but straight 11.2 volts when crank turns. checked at the 24x connector and get the same. (green lead on B connection).

problem I have is getting to the sensor. The crank pulley bolt just will not let go! I've tried impact gun set to max,(typical DIY type gun, not the best) and tried a breaker bar with hammer. how to get the crankshaft balancer off.

Nissan - Sentra :: Code P0335 For Crankshaft Position Sensor

I got a 2004 Nissan Sentra and a p0335 (Crankshaft Position Sensor) popped up on it after the car stalled out sitting in a parked position for 2 mins. The car also stalled out again 20 mins later while I was driving. When the car stalled out in park I had to wait 3 mins because it was just cranking over, when it stalled while driving it started 30 secs later with 1st turn of the key. This car has been having start up issues after the car been driven and sat for 40 mins but when the key is cycled 3 times it starts up fine. I also was going to eventually make a post of this, the car been making clicking or rattling noise at times, off and on mainly when the car been warmed up and at idle more noticeably heard , hear the noise better from inside the car, forgot what side of the engine where the noise is coming from. Also I did a search in the past about recalls on this car and there was a recall on the CRANK ANGLE SENSOR on the 2.5L engines, the car I have is a 1.8L. Stated on this link 3rd one down. [URL] ... . Does it sound like the Crankshaft Position Sensor needs to get replaced?

Nissan - Altima :: MIL Came On / Code P0335 Crankshaft Position Sensor Circuit

My wife's 2003 Altima has been stalling. The MIL came on P0335 Crankshaft Position Sensor Circuit. I did a little research and it seems that it is pretty common for that sensor to go bad, so I bought a new one. The problem is I can't get the wires off the old one. It is in such a ridiculous place. There is no line of sight anywhere. It has to be done completely by feel. Supposedly, I should be able to push the button until it clicks and then remove the connector. When I push the button, it definitely clicks - but it doesn't stay clicked. It clicks right back out before I can pull on the connector. How can I keep that button clicked in when I can't see anything and I can just barely get one hand down in there?

Civic - Honda :: 2001 - PO335 Crankshaft Position Sensor A Circuit Error Code

33k Civic 2001 "PO335 Crankshaft Position Sensor A circuit" error code

My Civic 2001 LX (non vtec 1.7) threw an error code today. It was, "PO335 Crankshaft Position Sensor A circuit" error code. It was raining a lot today, and this is the first day that it did it. I have never had this problem before. When the error code came on the engine automatically lost power. I couldn't get the car over 3000 rpm. Then it stalled in an intersection. Now it won't start period. It only has 33k on the clock.

The timing belt was done about two months previous, but i haven't had one problem until today, when it was raining.

Golf V R32 :: Won't Start - Getting P0321 Error For Crankshaft Sensor?

My car has ~102,000 miles, though I replaced the motor at 95,000.

Yesterday, I experienced these symptoms: My car just stalled in the parking lot going from R to D. Took me several tries to even get it to crank, double checking transmission in park, foot on brake, etc.

Then I had to crank on it a bunch of times to get it to light.

The BT-1 I have on me says I have a P0321 medium generic code. Googling that seems like it's related to a crank position sensor.

Runs OK for now, but I'd like to locate that sensor (is it G28?) to make sure the wires look OK. Happened again the next time I ran it, so taking it off the road for now as unreliable.

Is this the G28 crankshaft sensor location? I figure it's the plug hiding behind the angle bracket to the right of the oil filter in this photo.

I'm trying to figure out if this is within my abilities, or if I should farm it out. As I think about it, I'm guessing the sensor and related harness are not "new" with my motor, they transferred over from the old one.

Still looking for input if I have the right location for the sensor and any input on DIY.

Golf IV / Jetta IV :: CEL Code For Bad Coolant Temp Sensor?

So my check engine light came on in my 04 jetta sw, and when I had the car read, it gave me a code that tracked down to be a bad coolant temp sensor. I bought the replacement part from my local VW dealership, installed it and the check engine light went away. Now about 2 weeks late it came back on, and I am getting a reading of "Coolant temp sensor high voltage". So it goes from needing replaced, then the replacement is running high voltage?

Golf IV / Jetta IV :: MAF Sensor Fault Code - No Crank Or Start

I bought an 05 golf GL with a 2.0 and 5 speed in January for commuting to work.

Well, recently. I was on my way home from work, I'm an engine tech for Cummins Inc, and I notice my CEL came on and the car stalled multiple times at red lights. So I limped it home, connected my scanner and the fault was "Implausible signal from Mass Air Flow sensor". I cleared the fault code and tried to start the car. Nothing, no crank no start. Just an audible click from under the hood.

I disconnected the battery for 5 min reconnected it and it started fine. Drove it to work the next day, no issues. I tried to start it again and nothing, CEL was on again for the MAF sensor. I pop started it, car ran like hell, rough idle, low power, etc. luckily I have a dualy that I can drive in the mean time.

Golf IV / Jetta IV :: CEL On With Camshaft Position Sensor Code And Misfire On Cylinder 3

She is a 1999.5 Golf 2.0 (although, she just has a rabbit symbol on the hatch, is she a Rabbit or did someone remove the Golf badge?) I just bought the car, with less than 160,000 miles. The dome lights work sometimes, Door Ding works intermittently as well, but sometimes will "glitch" in other words it will be making the sound but it kind of stutters? Odd? The horn sometimes works, however it is very silent? Check engine light is on with a camshaft position sensor code and miss on cylinder 3. Someone told me to replace the "109 relay"... could this be the problem or is this the CCM?

Golf IV / Jetta IV :: Error Code P0113 - Intake Air Temp Sensor

My 2003 Mk 4 Golf have had a lot of error codes and I have cleared most (O2 sensors, thermostat, and Mass Air Sensor) I now have an error P0113 which is the Intake Air temp Sensor.

So I need to clean the sensor first then maybe replace it, but I can't find the sensor on the intake manifold.

I have looked all through the U-Tube info, but nothing matches my 2003 Golf 2.0L ...

2001 jetta 2.0 VW guys a while back I was pulling a code saying that the air temp sensor circuit was low I believe it was P0112 so I replaced the maf with a bwd maf. Said it was for the car. Was fine for a day but now it has a P0102 code and the epc stays on (rough idle) what could be wrong ? Is it because the car hasn't learned the new sensor yet because I've only drove 10km or do I have a faulty sensor. BTW replacing the maf fixed the P0112 code

Golf IV / Jetta IV :: 2004 - Camshaft Position Sensor Error Code

I have a 2004 MK4 Golf 2.0l that's been throwing a CPS error code. My brother was going to come down to visit for a weekend. He had done some diagnostic work and had me order a timing kit and a camshaft position sensor from ECS.

So, with my assembled parts, I brought the car in to a reputable shop. Anyway, the guy does the work and now the car is ready and saying that the CPS took nearly 4 hours more of work.
