I have a 03 jetta 1.8t the asr light comes on and stays on and i cant shut it off if i turn the car off it goes off and then like 10 min later it comes on. Why its happening
View 5 RepliesWhere to begin, I've checked things i thought could be the issue but aren't. I am having a constant e-brake light on which as you know emits the loud and annoying beep sound. What I've checked and done:
I checked the brake fluid, its fully topped off. I also removed the ebrake switch (the thing under it that when depressed pushes the button and turns the light off) and just crossed the wires to complete the circuit (this does the same as the button essentially) before buying a new one to see if that was the issue, which is doesn't seem to be. I had my buddy run vagcom which turned up no codes that SHOULD make this issue occur. I even popped in a new brake light switch which didn't work.
At the same time of this happening my car is making ZERO boost at all. Is it a coincidence? I don't know... it's just weird they would both happen at the same exact time. Again, no codes are showing up. Checked lines and didn't see any potential boost leaks. What to do.
Today my car for one of the many times has shut off while i was braked at a red light. Car will be running fine and then i see the cluster shut off, car bog down and then the ignition is killed. I then have to put the car in park and turn over the car. Happened about a hand full of times over the past year. Why it might be happening? Possibly fuel line replacement?
In addition, the car also is having an electrical issue somewhere that makes the car shut off the ecu and restart it. From that, the cluster resets the time , the trip counter resets to zero with the radio shutting off completely, and wiping the AM/FM presets. I believe this could be from a short somewhere in the alpine stereo system the car has and the possible LED floor lights that are tapped into the 12V Cigarette lighter in the dash.
04' Golf Gl 2.0L, Auto, 87xxx miles.
Was driving just a few hundred feet up the road to local mini mart. On the way home after pulling out of the shop, my battery light flickered once and twice before staying on. I circled around the block to see if it would go away, but it was still on when I parked in my driveway. I noticed a ticking noise in the engine bay, but decided to turn it off.
About 10 minutes later, I turned the car back on. Battery light still on, noise still evident in the bay. I popped the hood and it's coming by the serpentine belt. That seemed to be running fine over there and couldn't see anything that looked out of the ordinary. I went in the car to rev up the engine a bit and turn on my lights, and that's when the symptoms got weirder. My RPMs jumped to about 1,000 and stayed there (even when I let on the gas a bit); my blowers would work (but not the screen showing the temp); CD player turned off; and I got a cluster full of lights on my dash. The car would idol rough when turning lights on and off.
It eventually shut off, and now there is no crank or nothing. All lights still work, alarm works, but no turn over or clicking. I'm going to try and get it jumped when able to, but I'm not sure what the problem could be. I can't find the exact paperwork, but I had the alternator replaced at around 85,000 miles.

Well last night on my way home after work (2:30 AM) I was on the turnpike and puff my car shut down and anti theft immobilizer light started blinking and the car won't start got it tow....
View 3 RepliesI bought a 2003 Vw Gti 1.8t ... What to do or look for when something goes wrong . About a two months after driving it, it won't idle and it shuts off while in Neutral . I've done my research and i believe he didn't install the BOV in right, only bc it is not recirculates the air. Make sense? Is there ANYTHING i can do so it will run better and idle?

View 3 RepliesI have a 1.6 8v mk4 Golf, and my fans started staying on all the time. There are 2 coolant sensors on this model, one is the green one, and the other is the black one which seems to be hardwired into the thermostat housing. Anyway, I changed the green one, and that didn't solve it, so changed the whole thermostat, which obviously came with a new sensor build on....Hey, it worked, for 2 weeks, and then the fans started coming on again as soon as you turned the ignition key...and the temp needle doesn't move much, as before.
My suspicions have moved to the sensor wiring loom, that was fiddled with, while changing the thermostat...I hear they can become brittle over time, and so behave as if the sensor is unplugged, i guess.... Do these wires unplug anywhere in there so I can test the loom properly?
Had an issue arise today where out of the blue my turn signal decided to turn on and stay on... and i do not mean it was blinking as if i was going to turn i mean solid on, no clue what caused the issue, the stalk is still in the middle position, and when i turn the other side on (passenger/right) it blinks normally, now if I turn the hazards on they both come on and stay on solid, this problem does not even stop when i pull the key out of the ignition, I have to remove the negative battery strap for it to turn off completely.
View 3 RepliesI have a 2003 VW Jetta TDI and the check engine light has been staying on solid (not flashing) for a couple of months. I took it to my local dealer who tested the computer and said that it was the thermostat and a related sensor. That answer didn't seem to make sense, and unfortunately I didn?t get the code from the dealer at the time. I did though have the code read recently at another shop and it said: "Code P0674 which is #4 glow plug circuit - Q13 - electrical fault sporadic." What this means?
View 6 RepliesYesterday i was on my way to fill 100oct, on my way i encountered heavy rains and big puddles. After 15-20min drive to the gas station i filled her up and setup the 100oct tune, after i noticed the check engine light was on and epc light too.
So i set her back to stock tune and back to 100oct tune and the CEL went away but the epc light wont go away. Why it stayed on? The car still runs good.
I have a 2016 mkx and when we shut it off, all of the lights stay on. We turned off the headlamp delay. Set it to zero.
View 17 RepliesI have a 2016 Elantra GT with less than 1000 miles on it and I just started coming across an issue yesterday. I have had my ABS and trac light kick off on me and stay lit until I shut the car down, then it will start back up with no issue. I don't have a compatible scanner to pull the codes so I am not sure what in the system is kicking the light.
Its random when happening and I double checked that my wiring was all hooked up properly from the factory on all items included in the circuit. I also checked the wheel bearings just to rule out possibly having a bad one which I would find hard to believe with under 1000 miles on it even if faulty.
Are there any common issues with the ABS, traction, or stability control systems on these cars that people have come across? Obviously I'm under warranty so I'm not worried about getting it fixed.
Car shut off while driving. Saw it wasn't getting fuel. Replaced fuel pump. Got fuel. It will crank. Still won't start. Replaced crankshaft position sensor. Still no luck. No battery. No luck. Timing belt is perfectly fine. I checked the ecm relay and it seems to be working. It won't get a spark. It will try to crank but will not get a spark in any of the cylinders..

View 15 RepliesI have a 2007 ES350 and my trunk decided to stay shut today, right when I arrived at work with stuff in the trunk.... The keyfob doesn't work, the button on the trunk doesn't work and the button inside the car doesn't work.
There is no clicking sound, it doesn't seem to be moving the switch. I can open the trunk using a long stick and pulling the emergency lever. I have checked the valet and that is not the problem.
I have disconnected the battery multiple times. Apart from losing all my settings this did not work for trunk issue. I pulled the fusebox and don't see a "trunk release" fuse. I see a fuel OPN but no trunk..... My fuel door works fine. I am going to check every fuse after I get off work.
So I go to start up the old girl the other day and she turned right over, ran for about 2 seconds, and shut down. I tried to start it again with the same result. When I turn the ignition forward, before starting it, this image with a car and a key below it starts flashing on the gauge and the odometer starts flashing "service". I tried using a different key with the same results, what this might be?
View 5 RepliesMy girlfriend has a 2005 Accent and recently we went to go drive it and the battery was dead. I noticed that when we shut the car off the black LCD Odometer display was staying on the dash with the power shut off and no key in the ignition. I figured out which Fuse it was under the hood and pulled it. The odometer lcd turned off and we also lost all of the interior lights.. When I ran the car with the fuse pulled the Odometer LCD would display normally but somehow the battery is still managing to drain even with the Fuse pulled.. Any wiring diagrams for the fuse panel under the hood, if it could be a relay that is still drawing power when the car is shut off..
View 1 RepliesSo I was driving down the road today and my car just shut off. No turning back at all. It is still trying to start. Battery is fine, terminals are fine, it acts like it wants to start but won't start. It's been running fine for a long time now. I think it may be the fuel pump. I'm going to take the fuel line out when I get home and see if it's getting fuel.
Door doesn't make the buzzing sound when you open the door. The car is also on air ride...
I have a 2004 Jetta, 2.0L. I was pulling out of stop light and the car sputtered for a second and shut off, and now will not start. I thought I heard a clicking noise coming from under the dash or the engine bay right before it shut off. The engine turns over and cranks fine, I replaced the fuel pump relay and checked the fuse(28) and both are good, I can hear the fuel pump run when the key is in the on position. I swapped out the coil pack and checked the injector fuse(32), both are also good. I pulled the line off of the end of the fuel rail and it's getting gas to the rail. The immobilizer light is not on but the EPC light is lit when I turn the key on, I can't remember if it was lit or not before starting when the car is running normal.
View 6 RepliesMy 2005 vw GTI doesn't like to start in the cold. It will start and I can rev it just for a second before it turns off again. My ABS and ESP traction control lights are on and they only turn on when I have this problem. Normally when it does this I can let it sit for a couple of hours and it will start as if nothing was even wrong. I took it to the dealer to do a full diagnostic on it and the only thing they could find was a faulty instrument cluster and I don't think that is what is causing my car not to start.
