Golf IV / Jetta IV :: Squeaking Noises When The Front Dips During Braking At A Stop

Jun 1, 2016

I get weird squeaking noises coming from the front of the car. It happens when the front dips during braking at a stop. Happens when I turn. Happens when I go over bumps. What it could be? Car has 150,000 miles and suspension is stock.

Golf IV / Jetta IV :: Front End Squealing / Squeaking When Turn Left

2 days ago I changed my driver side wheel bearing and put in a new cv shaft

The axle nut may have been somewhat over torqued but nothing crazy over the spec.

Everything else is as per spec.

My problem is that every time I turn left slow fast sharp not sharp it's making this good awful noise.

It is not a constant squealing. It's every rotation. On off on off on off. No bearing humming or anything when driving straight or turning right. Just left. I'm pretty good at solving pretty well anything with my gti but this one has me stumped

Corolla / Matrix 2009-13 :: Squeaking / Creaking Noises Coming From Front Suspension

Vehicle: 2009 Toyota Corolla
Mileage: 55000 kms

I am recently experiencing some weird squeaking/creaking noises coming from my front suspension.. It manifests whenever I am going over humps faster than usual (or if the humps is not "perfectly sloped"). I seldom experience this during daytime but during nighttime, it is very evident.

this is the list of things that I replaced already:

2x ball joints
2x stabilizer links
2x shock absorbers
2x tie rod
2x rack ends

Did some wheel balancing and wheel alignment already...

I was able to replicate this by parking the car in a slope - parallel to the street with the wheels turned to right or left, and pushing the top fender downwards.

Driving along our streets, highway, and highway curved ramps is flawless.. Could this be bushings on stabilizer bars? or the control arms?

Golf IV / Jetta IV :: Front End Clunk Sound Occurs While Braking And Accelerating Over Bumps

A clunk sound coming from the front end. Drivers side and Passenger side. Not really a metal on metal sound. The problem started after coilover install. The sound occurs while braking and accelerating over bumps. So what I've replaced:

-Strut Mounts and Bearings
-Lower control arm bushings (R32 bushings)
-Drivers Side CV axle

What I've checked:

-Tie rod ends have no play
-Ball joints have no play.
-I have no sway bar, so not the sway bar bushings.
-Its not the axle hitting the frame.

Could possibly be the dog bone mount but when I installed the 1' motor mounts I saw no issue but could possibly be the bushing. feel the clunk in my foot as well.

Camry 2012+ :: Squeaking Noise When Going Over Speed Bumps Or Certain Dips

My question today has to deal with my squeaking car. Only mods I have done to my suspension would be Lowered on Progress springs and added there rear sway bar. After about a year my car started to squeak when going over speed bumps or certain dips BUT ONLY THE REAR. I have tracked the problem down to my rear sway bar. What is the fix for this? Ive read in other forums (mainly civic teggys etc) that the bushing might be worn? What is my recommended next step?

Lexus LS 2007+ :: LS460 - Popping Noises When Braking From Front Drivers Side

I'm getting "popping" noises when braking from my front, drivers side suspension. Past knowledge tells me it's probably an upper control arm / Tie Rod/Swaybar link problem. Everything is nice and tight in there.

Also getting a violent "thumping" noise/feeling constantly when driving from the same side.

I just dropped it off at the dealer, and they are probably going to come back saying the upper control arm needs to be replaced (we will see).

Golf V R32 :: Squeaking Sound When Coming To A Stop

When I come to a stop there is a squeaking sound that is difficult to localize. It sounds like a combination of a squeaky rubber bushing and/or squeaky bed springs. The volume is magnified when slowing to a stop in a quiet garage but the best I can do is localize it to "the underside of the car".

Golf IV / Jetta IV :: All Of A Sudden Noises From Beyond The Head?

What is making this noise? car fired up fine this morning, drove it to work and once i exited the highway, idle started bouncing slightly and it seemed like the car was trying to compensate for something. every once in a while it will jump to 1000 rpm then try to settle but still the idle is choppy. and then there is this noise. Does not seem to the be the belts and to be honest I cant really pinpoint its location i think its loudest under the intake manifold. it sounds like a bad bearing to me but from where? O and I checked codes, nothing accept my regular emissions delete codes. I don't have immediate access to VAG-COM so that's out for the time being. also another detail, if i rev the car the noise does not seem to get any louder in fact it disappears mostly.

Golf IV / Jetta IV :: Car Overheated And Broke Down With Clanking Noises

My girlfriend's 2005 Jetta 2.0 overheated and then broke down after making some pretty awful clanking noises. Now it will not start. I'm going to be doing the repairs myself (and learning a lot along the way).

The car will not start. When I try to start it, it makes a 'whining' noise, which I'm assuming is the starter. This is not the first repair I've done on her car. She wants to get rid of it, but now that I've done so much work on it, I've grown a bit attached to it. Plus I think I can save her a bunch of money in the long run If I fix this myself. Here's where I am so far:

I removed the cover over the camshaft pulley and had a look while my SO turned the key to try to start the car. I noticed a couple things:

1. There are no teeth on the timing belt.

2. The camshaft pulley still turns, but not continuously. It turns a little then stops, and then tries again. (Engine not seized?)

I have ordered a code reader which should be here in a couple days. With that I'm hoping to check if there's a compression problem. If so, I'm under the impression that that would indicate a blown head gasket, or bent valves. I checked the oil to see if it looks milky and It still looks like regular oil.

Caravan/Voyager :: 2009 - Front End Grinding Noise Only When Braking To A Complete Stop

Back in June I replaced all 4 brakes and rotors. Now all of sudden I hear a loud grinding noise in the front end only when I'm braking to a complete stop.

I took all 4 tires off and then took off the pads. The pads and rotors are all still brand new and have very minor normal wear. Also the calipers still look good.

I then put everything back together and went for a test drive. The grinding noise is still there. It's very loud and only when I come to a complete stop.

Golf V R32 :: Squeaking Noticeable When Coming To A Stop In Parking Garage

So I took my car in for the 10k service. I also wanted them to check out some squeaking my car was making that was noticeable when coming to a stop in say a parking garage or drive thru, and also the rattling I'm getting from the door panels. When I go to pick up my car, they said that everything was because of my exhaust and that they couldn't do anything about it. They also drove my car over 20 miles and that was the best answer they could come up with? Is it just me or does it seem like they were just joyriding my car? They couldn't even turn off the "service now" reminder. I really dont see how the rattling can be caused by my exhaust when I've brought it in for the same reason before I had the exhaust. What I should do? I mean the door panels rattle when coasting in neutral even, not just when I'm accelerating.

Also have a little squeal when turn the car off? Sounds like a belt to me but not sure.

Golf V R32 :: Noises From Front Suspension

Attached is a video of my car going over speed bumps. It sounds like a rusty bed spring :/ I dont know what to do. The dealership told me that everything is fine, but i dont believe that.

On another side note, i am also experiencing misfires a lot, and the car feels a little under powered. I dont know what part to replace but i was hoping to get some info on what to do, and yes i took it to the dealer, nothing showed up on the vag and like the previous issue they said the car is fine!! My ideal situation is to have someone drive it and confirm that there's an issue, and then obviously to fix the issue.

Golf IV R32 :: Noises Coming From Front Struts

So I just replaced my upper strut bushings and bearings and there's still noises coming from the struts or idk what it is but its coming from up front and when I back up and turn the wheel or when I am driving down my drive way there's little bumps and once i drive over them the car just makes all this noise. Pretty much what else could it be? are my struts blown? or could it be something is loose?

Golf IV / Jetta IV :: 2005 - Makes Noises While Stopping / Battery Dies?

I have an 05 GLI and it makes noises when it's off. I don't know what it is. It's a 4 second hum then kicks off.I don't know if it's a pump of some sort or what. Today when I opened my car door for the first time of the day it did it. My **new** battery dies a lot. I've always thought that I've just left stuff on because I am a ding dong.

Golf IV R32 :: Noises From Front Passenger Side Suspension

This afternoon I was out for a drive and on my way home on the highway I had something give on the front passenger side suspension.

There was an "odd" feeling from the steering and then some noises from the passenger side front of the car. As I was slowing down there was more clunking/shuddering as I came to a stop. After stopping I looked at the wheel and noticed it looked "further" out, and had more give when pushing it than it should have.

I then tried to pull the car further off the road and discovered that it would not go into gear to move at all!

This is what it looks like:

Broken Side Above

Drivers Side Above

You can see above how the strap pulled on the tire, I tried loosening the strap on it up but it was still under tension.

Golf IV R32 :: Rattling / Clunking Noises From Front Axles

Posted a while back about a rattling/clunking noise coming from my front suspension. Since my car had nearly 100k miles on it and was still all stock, I went through and replaced ever single part of the front suspension. (Control arms, ball joints, got some Koni coil overs, strut mounts, sway bar end links, swar bar bushings). Turns out the noise wasn't actually related to the suspension. I've got massive play in both of my front axles. They make horrible rattling/clunking noises going over any sort of bump, even the REALLY small ones.

Golf/GTI VII :: Noise Comes From Rear Suspension After Braking To A Stop

I have been enjoying my PP GTI from the time I picked it up a month ago but have recently started noticing a noise that comes from the rear suspension AFTER braking to a stop. Basically, whenever I come to a complete stop and the car SETTLES (not while its breaking, but after a split second after it comes to a stop) on the rear suspension, I get a very noticeable clunk. This also does not just happen with hard stops from speed, it happens also when i creep forward and stop suddenly and the car's rear end settles.

I have thought about what it could be and I have come to two potential conclusions: 1) Break slap caused by the pad settling back into the holder in the caliper but it seems like its making too much noise to be just that. 2) This is related to the dreaded rear suspension noise issues that our friends in Europe have experienced. Relating to number 2, the car does seem abnormally loud when going over rough roads here in Detroit. It doesn't necessarily clunk or rattle but you can definitely hear the shocks working. This seems abnormal to me being a brand new car (my first in fact) which is why I am afraid it could be the shocks/top-mounts.
