Upon moderate to hard acceleration I hear an intermittent spinning-like vibration noise from the rear diff area...is that normal?
View 1 RepliesFixed my AWD. Needed a new Haldex pump. Did a fluid change and new Haldex filter. All using factory stuff.
AWD works great now. The problem though is when im making tight slow speed turns. I.E. backing out of a parking stall. I get a noise from the rear diff like something rubbing, or a tire skidding.
Is this normal? I bought my car from the dealership without my AWD working and just got it fixed, so I really didn't know what an AWD R32 was like.
So since I added the spark cut tune, I've had this weird buzzing noise when it's down gearing. It doesn't do it in D though which is odd. What could be wrong?
View 2 RepliesI have a 1995 4X4 Chevy Silverado. Well tonight the lower radiator hose came off, and all the coolant drained out while my wife was driving it around town. She noticed that the temp gauge spiked, and tried to get home. The truck stalled, was able to restart it for a moment, stalled again and now when we try to start it up there is a low spinning noise coming from the area around the starter. I think it might be the starter trying to engage the flywheel. My question is whether or not this could because the motor has seized, or is there another symptom that could potentially make this noise.

View 14 RepliesHear a vibration kind of noise coming from the engine when accelerating in 4-6 gear at a lower RPM? It ONLY seems to happen in sport mode with the soundakator on. Normal mode it doesn't. I thought maybe flutter but I'm not flooring it in low RPM/high gear... even just halfway throttle.
I should say I have a JB1 and K&N drop-in installed.
So I put the R up in the lift today to look for a rattle underneath and I ran into this..
View 7 RepliesMy rear diff had recently started to whine on decel, what I am looking to find out is, would replacing the stock rear diff itself with a peloquin unit be enough of a fix, or should the whole rear housing be replaced as well? I don't want to buy a peloquin rear diff and install it and still have issues because of the pinion shaft being the culprit or something else.

View 1 RepliesThis problem started in Jan this year and got worse through feb, got it checked in march to find out it had metal shavings and chucks stuck to the magnet. Ive searched the forums for the last few weeks but noticed no one seemed to point out if you can drive it while its like this or is this a recipe for disaster. other than the droning/whining the car will fight me will going in reverse while turning which has happened twice. Need to get the whole rear diff/haldex replaced....

On my way back from the dealer I noticed a knocking noise coming from the lower rear area of the car which is more noticeable when going over bumps. Its intermittent. Thinking something got messed up when they were doing the alignment? What this might be?
View 2 RepliesSo far I've been through 1 set of tires (after 12,000 miles), stepper motor, new cd changer, trouble with TPMS system and more Now that my stepper motor is replaced (dealer said he wasn't aware of any widespread trouble with this part, what a joke) I hear a humming noise, constant from rear axle area, drowned out by engine while driving. Noise sounds like a fan spinning or electronic interference you might get if your cell phone is close to a computer or tv with volume off. I don't recall this noise previously although I rarely drive this car it's my wife's.
View 5 Repliesso I am coming up my driveway with about 4 inches of snow.... with TC on... and it bogged and stopped.... soi was like huh.... lets put this bitch to the test... so I put it back in gear, and it bogged and stalled..... so I am stuck... I live up a pretty steep hill and I have the Haldex mod.. but it seems that the rear wheels aren't spinning in both TC mode and non-TC.
View 24 RepliesUpon putting on my winter wheel i was checking if the bolts were too long and my rear passenger side wheel wasn't spinning. I took the wheel off and checked the rotor and it took a lot of force to spin because the caliper didn't go back. I took the brake fluid line out hoping it would decompress the caliper and it did not, and brake fluid leaked out a tiny bit. This leads me to believe that my caliper is bad. Just want to make sure before I order another one
View 4 RepliesLately I have noticed an intermittent strong overheating odor coming from the rear passenger tire area of my 1999 Sonata. I was also beginning to notice the car vibrating or riding unevenly. I took it in to Les Schwab to have the brakes checked and was told they were fine with over 50% on all four brakes. I did have the front tires replaced as they were worn and wearing unevenly and was told this is what was more than likely causing the vibrating. That was a couple of weeks ago and I had not noticed any odor coming from the wheel well until yesterday the minute I opened my car door after driving home from work there was the same strong toxic smelling odor coming from the same rear passenger wheel well, but not from anywhere else. I have only noticed this smell after driving home from work and there is a fairly steep hill I go down not too far from my home. Is this a brake issue or something else?

View 2 RepliesI plan to take the timing cover off tomorrow, but I wanted to post this video. You can hear the rattle immediately in the beginning of the video below and then intermittently after that. Also, is that whistling noise you hear while the engine's running normally?
View 7 RepliesWhen I accelerate as the car is going to shift, there is a weird noise coming from the back area. It sounds as if it were a bunch of walnut shells being crushed and swished in a coffee can. Is that something that sounds like it could be normal? Today was the first time I drove with the windows down and heard it. I'm wondering if it has always been there... it sounds very loud though. It echos very loudly back into the car from nearby things as I drive by... It sounds to me a lot like when you would take a wind up toy past it's point were you weren't supposed to...
View 13 RepliesMy 2010 Prius has been making an odd noise intermittently while accelerating. I haven't been able to reproduce it for the mechanics (of course). The best description I have for the noise is this. It sounds like the click/rattle sound a car makes when it is stalling. Just sped up. This can happen at any time I accelerate (even at highway speeds) but it usually happens just after I start moving from a stop. When it occurs it feels like there is a drop in engine power and I either have to take my foot off the accelerator, or push down harder and power through.
View 10 RepliesI recently had my rear axle seals replaced due to leaking. Does the rear diff fluid get replaced on that repair since the rear diff cover comes off? Trying to figure out when my next interval for changing rear diff fluid should be.
View 1 RepliesIntermittent chirping noise when accelerating from a stop. It sounds like a brake chirp but it comes and goes. Not brakes. Changed pads and turned rotors chirp is still there.
