Had a friend at vw change my haldex fluid and the next day I'm driving my tires locked then let go and skidded a bit now my car is making a very weird noise from the rear and where the haldex is located I'm getting a bit of leaking.
View 24 RepliesI had a 03 trailblazer ltz; last week while driving low speed ( 30 hm-50 km ) ,the rear tires had locked,and sliding,but the engine didn't stop and steering wheel didn't lock.I restarted the engine but the transmission at D , it didn't work. When the transmission changed at R ,and after that at D i can drive it. Nowadays i'm hearing noise from left rear tires like turning shaft. Before that i jumped from the ramp while fast, because of that the sound began.
After that,this issues have began. Yesterday while I'm driving at low speed it happened again. When I pass the 30 kmh the sound are too loudly come from rear tires. I Checked that but nobody can find the issue. I check the hand brake parts,because i didn't work. but yesterday it made it again.
Is it possible to being after jump from speed bump ?? Because i passed it fast and jumped. After that, the sounds began.( i think it's like a rolling sth. ). I used the car about 2 weeks after that and never used about two weeks. Now i can drive it ,but sounds always there.last time i drived it on flat road,no brake and sounds came like squeezing sth. And the transmission no longer to be useful,but the car can still in idle ,it never stopped the engine and never give me an alert.
While slow down, I changed transmission to park,and changed to reverse.so ,i can drive it,but sound always there.there are no oil under the car.after first time the dealer said '' your problem is parking brake shoe ''. Because parking brake shoe come away from it's location. He corrected,but sounds still there. After 2 days, it made it second time. So it is on park now ....
I have a friend who called me today, she has a 1999 Explorer Sport with over 200,000 miles on it. She said she was coming home the other day and as she was pulling into her driveway she heard a clunk then the steering kind of locked up, and it felt like a tire was dragging. She moved the truck later and said that it goes forward and backwards fine but grabs and skids while trying to turn.
She called her local mech, and he thought the diff could have given out on her and is basically acting like a locked diff rather than open.. I think the front axle must have somehow engaged, and is stuck.. So my question is this, how does the front axle on a explorer engage.. I know on Jeeps and Chevys there is an actuator that moves an arm that moves a sleeve that engages both sides of the axle. Does ford work the same way?? It would seem to me that if the truck is going front and back fine the diff itself should be ok?? The xfer case was replaced about 3 years ago.
I have a mk6 golf tsi (highline/gt). While cleaning it I found out that if you sit in the car and use the key to lock it there's no other way to get out other than using the key. What if someone gets locked inside in a hot day? I for example am claustrophobic. In my other car (2004 e class) you can open the door even if the car is locked. I have the multifunction display can I fix it from there?
View 15 RepliesI replaced the rear brakes on my 2003 Jetta 2.0. Reman. Calipers, new pads and rotors.
I bleed the rear right and then the rear left. Have full pressure in the pedal but the disc in grinding at low speeds and when I apply the brakes the rear wheels almost lock up.
I normally open my Jetta with the key, as apparently the "remote" works on all doors but the driver's one. I will fix it at some point; anyway, what really disturbs me, is that all the doors get locked after a short time I start driving and stay closed even when I stop and turn off the engine. It's very inconvenient because I normally always put something I need to reach on the back seats etc. Can this behavior be changed? Do I have some options?
View 9 RepliesSo I have a 2.0L jetta with 160,000ish (daily driven) miles. And I'm starting to see a bit of a shifting issue mostly into third. Seems like I get locked out of the gear while shifting from second to third. I have to push it in(catches the "lock out") then I pull back and push forward again and it pops in. I rarely miss gears or grind. And I've noticed only a few times it does it in fourth as well. No grinding (unless I try to force it super hard) just won't let me go into gear.
Also while on subject of gear issues...
When I go into reverse, after the car has been sitting over night or for a longer period ( I would say between 8-14 hours) it will act up, almost like I am trying to drive with the parking brake fully engaged. In order to make it stop such bad behavior I have to rev it higher and it makes a *pop* or *crack* noise. Then it reverses just fine.
I've done a little bit of searching, "Look for a binding in the engine bay" and I have looked and haven't found much.
I have a 3 year old that sits behind my passenger seat and I put the seat all the way front and leaning forward so she doesn't kit the seat (and mess up the back of the seat with her dirty shoes).
The problem is, she then has a habit of kicking the seatbelt that is dangling on the side because it's fun to pull daddy's chain while he's driving. So I pulled the seatbelt over the headrest of the passenger seat to move it out of her way.
Now the seatbelt is tight and I can't get it to release so I can pull it off the headrest. How to release the tension? If not, how do I remove the bottom panels to get at the mounting bolt so I can just unbolt it and take it off?
Went to have 2007 Rabbit "flashed" tp get rid the rev hang problem. Shop said they do this all the time,but for some reason my ECU is locked and they cant get into it. What was going on. Strictly stock. What is going on?
View 1 RepliesSo I've noticed a problem. When I go to lock my doors with the keyfob my drivers side door doesn't lock. Manually I can turn the key and lock it. Now what's weird is my drivers door will lock when I press the lock button on the inside of the door(the button on the handle). So I'm pretty sure the actuator isn't bad since the door will lock via the inside button, maybe I'm wrong though? Not really a super bad problem but annoying nonetheless.

View 14 RepliesI just bought a used 2009 VW GTI which is a lovely car as you can see from this picture:[URl]. As you can also see from that picture I live in one of the many snowy states. The roads now resemble the lunar surface except with deeper craters and potholes. When I bought the car, I was stupid enough to be talked into a $500 5 year warranty. Or was I? I've driven the car for almost a month and have replaced 2 tires due to pothole damage. At this rate, I'm way ahead on the warranty. The car has 18" low profile tires which seem sensitive to being banged into the rim of potholes. Is there something about my driving that's causing this issue? I don't really speed and the last blowout happened at around 30mph. Is this something I just have to live with? Can I replace the tires w/ normal tires?

Im like WTF so when I get home I realize it really is stuck and im trying to find a way to fix it to no avail. Is there something really simple that I am not seeing or is it really broken?
View 6 RepliesI had to do some work on the car which required disconnecting the battery, Usually the radio goes into safe mode which I unlock using the 4 digit code. However this time i entered the wrong code and the radio went into 02 safe mode?? Now the radio is not responding at all to any inputs from the buttons, its literally locked. I have disconnected the battery again and left it for a bit hoping it would clear it but no luck it still says 02 safe and I can't enter the code to unlock it.

1. Is there anyway to disable that annoying honk when you lock the doors w/o a vag-com? I've searched but didn't find anything.
2. Need to know if the Golf R has the same suspension as this car? Obviously spring rates and specs might be different but I may get airbags for my current car and would like to take off the bags and put them on the R if I pick one up.
I destroyed my front tires about 3 months ago, I thought the tracking was out because the inside of the tires were all chewed up, so I bought 2 new ones and had the tracking done. Well today I took the .:R to the Tire Barn for a rotation and they informed me that there's wear on the inside again.
IWould it prevent any more damage to the tires if I replaced the front control arm bushings and had a new alignment done? Ideally I would like to replace the control arms but I can't afford that right now as I'm about to buy a house.
I have a 2004 VW R32 lowered and all 4 of the tires wear down on the inside really fast. Camber kit? Which kit should I get?
View 6 RepliesI have a slow leak in one of my tires. Loses maybe 1 PSI per day. I've taken the tire off, washed it, examined it closely, used dishwashing soap (to look for bubbles) and cannot find the leak. Even paid close attention to the valve.
So now I'm thinking of using of those cans of sealant, but I'm afraid of damaging the tire pressure sensor.
FWIW, the tires have about 13K miles on them.
So I recently bought my R with only 60k miles bone stock, and i had a feeling my awd wasn't working because i would roast my tires in first, and chirp bad into second.. so i am putting it on a lift today and i was wondering what i should look for that can be causing the problem. i hear the fuses and rear diff fluids can affect it so ill have to check.
