Last night my wife discovered that her headlights would not turn on. The flash-to-pass functions work but the headlights will not illuminated. I am going to replace the 20A CB and see if that's the cause of the problem.
View 4 Replies05' TDI Jetta. The headlights will not turn on. The DRL's will work. I changed the dimmer switch, and put in a Euro switch to try and fix it. But the only thing I get when I turn on the headlights are the running lights. All the running lights and interior (dash) lights work fine. I checked the fuses and pulled the 173 relay (to kill the DRL's).
View 7 RepliesMy van has 90,000 miles. I am having problems with my headlights not turning on, then when they finally turn on, they will go off randomly. My power door locks have also stopped working. Last night, I found my tail light cover has come off. How can I put that back on? Lastly, my heater only works for a minute, then the air is cold.
View 3 RepliesMy 2004 Grand Prix has a intermittent start no start condition. If I turn the key on and the radio and dash work it will not start or even turn over. Most times when trying to start it the only light that turns on is the check engine light. Some times I have to turn the key off and then to the start position a dozen times before the starter will engage. Then it runs normal and can be driven but the entire dash does not work except for the check engine light. At this time the radio and information display do not work either. Everything else works as it should. I cleaned the battery connections and installed a new battery. I also tried a new Ignition switch. Checked all my fuses and they seem to be good. Cleaned the ground below the battery and the two on transmission. I can always get it started but it would be nice If I could tell how fast I am going. Maybe try bcm next.
View 6 RepliesThe tail lights do not turn off- the head lights do not turn on. every fuse was pulled and still the tail lights stayed on. Headlight switch was swapped out with a new one to eliminate it with no different result. No modifications known to have been made to the electrical system. This thing did spend a lot of time in NY state, so corrosion is likely. But this does not explain how/why the tail lights would stay on even if the headlight switch was off... IMO this would have to be an ignition switch issue.
View 9 RepliesJust picked up a 1999 F-150 XL, 4.2L V6, 5-Speed. Spent half the day rewiring the headlights back to factory as a previous owner did a bunch of wiring that made absolutely no sense. (Foglights or KC lights?). Anyway, works great with the exception that the headlights turn on when I turn the selector to just parking lights. I removed all but the factory wires under the hood. I haven't been behind the dash yet to check the headlight switch and I was hoping to avoid doing so. A fuse or relay that may be causing the issue? I don't have a service manual yet so I haven't been able to identify all the fuses under the hood.

View 4 RepliesI have a 2005 Grand AM SE v6, 3.4 that I had purchased used in 2008 with less than 23,000 miles. It is now at 52,000 miles. My troubles started less than a year after I bought it. In the last 4 years I have viewed just about every forum on the issues I am having, but I have not come across any with the same issues, there is usually a slight difference. Here are the details.
Car has hard starting problems randomly. Engine always turns over but does not always fire. Sometimes it starts right up, other times it takes several attempts. Totally random.
Car randomly shuts off while driving. Just cuts power, no warning..no sounds. No specific speed, totally random.
When starting, with the key in the "on" position, if the "service engine" light DOES come on..the car will start 100 percent of the time. If the "service engine" light does NOT come on, the car WILL NOT start 100% of the time. This is totally random also, but the car will ALWAYS eventually start.
Once the car starts, it runs fine..sometimes it shuts off , sometimes it doesn't. I've had the fuel pump pressure checked ( right up to specs). Replaced the Ignition Module. Replaced the Fuel pump Relay.
No codes come up at all. Both my mechanic and a friend of mine ( and my own observations from reading forums) lead us to believe it is a PCM issue..but another thought I have is possibly the connections (fusible links?)
Is it possible for me to take the PCM to have it tested and would a local mechanic be able to so that or will I have to contact a GM guy?
My 2005 Grand Am is stuck in park. It has been difficult to shift for the past day or two, but today it just won't budge. Putting the car in accessory and trying to shift from there doesn't work either. What might be wrong?

View 6 RepliesMy 2005 Grand Caravan has a leak in the A/C under the dash. The mechanics say they will need to tear out the dash to get to it and it will cost $1000. As this car needs a couple of more things and I just repaired the battery and alternator, I don't want to put this money into it. Will anything seize up if I just let it go? It's August and summer will be over soon. Can I just deal with it or will this cause further problems?
View 1 RepliesI have a problem with a Torrent. Still have my old GP with over 400K on it. Anyway, son's Torrent wouldn't turn over so he got a new battery and it still won't turn over. I'm getting 12v to the starter but nothing when he tries to start. Have taken starter off to have it looked at tomorrow. In the meantime, anything else it could be? He just spent a small fortune having head gaskets replaced.
View 14 RepliesI'm on my second A1 Cardone rack & pinion in six months. The first one had bad outer tie rod ends and this one is very hard to turn at slow speed like pulling out of a parking space. I would highly recommend using a ACDelco rack & pinion.

Sometimes even when I just stop for gas when its already warm. if I leave it for a few minutes usually it will start, run a little rough for a minute then run fine till next episode. no faults show up. I was thinking maybe the fuel pump relay was acting up.
View 2 RepliesI have a 2005 Pontiac Grand Prix V6 and for some reason my washer fluid sprayer just stopped working. Yes, the fluid is full...hahaa. So anyways, I checked the fuses and they seem to be ok. What I can check before tearing it apart or bringing it in? How do you know if the motor is bad? Where is the motor located in this car? The wipers are working fine, but it'd be nice to clean the windows.

The light turned off, but when I turned my car back ON, the light came again. Where the air pump is located in 2000 Pontiac Grand AM ?
When I hit the gas, the RPM goes all the way up and looks like it wont change the gear. The car is really lazy and I hope the air pump is the problem to fix this ?
The engine cranks and turns over when I turn the key, but won't stay running unless I give it some gas. My mechanic doesn't know what's wrong with it, but I haven't starting having him replace parts. What's going wrong. Could it be the fuel filter? fuel pump?
View 9 RepliesFor three years, the headlights on my wife's 2005 Audi A8 sporadically stay on once the car is turned off. The car only has 27,000 miles on it and has been regularly maintained. My wife keeps the light switch in the "auto" position. Once in a while when she turns the car off the lights stay on and remain on no matter what she does -- turning the light switch to "off" or in other positions, turning the car on and off again, etc..Eventually the lights will go off if she fools around with them enough but sometimes she doesn't notice they have remained on and the battery has gone dead.
We have had the car in to the dealer many times for this problem and for a while they told us they could not re-create the problem and didn't know what to do. Then they told us they ran a computer printout and found there was a bad signal being sent to the ignition. Replacing the ignition did not fix the problem. Now they are telling us they can not re-create the problem again now what to do.They say they have never seen this problem but these are the same people that told us there was no problem with the motor which opens the trunk -- until Audi came out with a totally re-designed trunk motor.
How do I turn off my headlights all the way... I can't seem to figure it out, the dail just makes them on, or even brighter, no off option.
