I have a 2006 Hyundai Sonata that squeaks when I turn left while in motion. It squeaks regardless of the degree of the turn but is more noticeable at slower speeds. The squeak isn't a screech so I don't think it's a belt. it isn't a grinding noise either. More like a "squeak, squeak, squeak." Seems to squeak with the rotation of the tire.
View 6 RepliesMy 2006 PT Cruiser Touring Edition has a lot of squeaks from the front. Most noticeable at low speed going over speed bumps or potholes. My mechanic has checked front end and says noise is coming from rear cradle bushings and wants to drop rear cradle and inspect/lube bushings. Also says sway links are dry and recommends lubing these as well. Everything else is OK. Estimate is $100-$150. Other than the annoying squeaking (which I can live with) is there any other reason (safety/mechanical) to get this done?
View 2 RepliesI drive a 2006 Hyundai Sonata 4 cylinder (2.4) that has about 81,500 miles on it. Recently, I notice front-end squeaks when turning either hard left or right while traveling 10-15 mph or more. There are no squeaks on straight-away driving. The squeaks are not loud - more like muffled squeaks - and occur 1-3 times per occurrence. I asked several people at auto parts stores. Most tell me that it is likely my tie-rod ends which have no grease fittings. One or two people have mentioned CV joints but I discount this as there is no damage to the boots and I do not get the tell-tale clicking noise on turns.
View 2 RepliesFor the past year I've had the front end squeaks and crunching from my 06 Sonata LX with 97k miles. It started with just going over bumps, then progressed to basically any movement of the body up and down. It's worse in the cold, but an issue all year.
I just did shocks and struts all around, with the mounts. Didn't affect the sounds at all. At 97k, the original shocks/struts were woefully dead. At least the car rides 10x better now.
Yesterday I changed out the sway bar end links with Moog K80949's. It does sound like some of the "crunching" is gone, and now we're back to just squeaking. I think even some of the constant squeaking over fairly normal roads is gone.
So, what's up next? The FSM suggest the lower control arm, which I'd prefer not to do. Sway bar bushings could be an option, but they looked kind of like a PITA to get to.
I own a 06 sonata with 95000 miles. Recently I've been having issues with my transmission. It occurs only at slow speed when i travel in first gear. What happens is when the car is moving, it feels like it shifts into neutral but indicator still shows D in the cluster. I press the accelerator nothing happens it just revs,no increase in speed whatsoever.
So that rules out slipping issues. Now i narrowed the problem down a little more whenever the problem crops up i shift the gear lever into sports mode, i feel a jerk and car shifts into first gear and it moves. If i dont shift into sports mode it catches gear in about 7 seconds.No fault codes.
And if i rev it high transmission goes into limp mode and stays in 3rd gear till i restart the car.Then i get P0731 incorrect first ratio.Changed ATF 7000 miles ago. Could it be a faulty range sensor?
I came off the turnpike the other day stopped at a light and my car, 2006 Hyundai Elantra 175000 miles, started rolling backwards. I put my foot on the gas and there was no movement. Put the car and park and it wouldn't start. I pushed it into a gas station and the attendant (attendant, not mechanic there was no service station) changed the oil and added some coolant. The car then started up fine and I was able to drive a quarter mile to work. When I was driving home I immediately noticed that there was a change in acceleration. It takes forever for the car to speed up... Pedal to the floor and it is lagging greatly. It seems to be going up to 4500 rpms just to reach 40 mphs at a slow pace. Once the car gets up to 60 mph the rpms drop to normal. I haven't gone faster than 60 mph in it since this happened, but it seems to handle fine at that speed. The issue is getting up to that speed. I don't know if it is related, but the air conditioning is very weak since all this happened. I have to turn it off when I'm accelerating now. I've been planning on buying a new car soon, but I want this one to last just a little while longer.
View 7 RepliesOccasionally, randomly, and unpredictably when accelerating from a slow speed coast I get no power response when I press down on the accelerator. It's as if the engine has stalled, but it has not. When the accelerator is held down for a few seconds (maybe 3 to 7) power comes back with a rush. Examples:
1. Making a U turn from a left turn late. Accelerate slowly forward, take foot off gas as the turn is initiated, press down on gas to accelerate out of the turn and get no immediate power response.
2. Making a left turn into a suicide lane. Accelerate to cross 2 traffic lanes, let off gas and coast slowly forward in the suicide lane while waiting for oncoming traffic to clear, traffic clears, press down on gas and get to response. Continue to press slowly down--no response. Hold the accelerator half or 3/4 down, power surges back after a few seconds.
3. Rolling slowly down a long left turn lane with foot off gas timing oncoming traffic, traffic clears, press down on gas to initiate the turn, no response. Let up on gas and press down again, no response, let up an press down again and car reacts normally.
Occurrences of this problem have been very random. I have spent a good deal of time in vacant parking lots trying to cause the problem to occur without any luck even though I know well the conditions under which it happens. I have left the car with the dealer but, of course, they can't observe the problem either. I have driven nearly 1000 miles without an incident and then had 2 occurrences within 4 miles of each other. I have about 5000 miles on the car and have logged 17 incidents.
Loosing power in traffic is, of course, dangerous. I was about to initiate action under California's Lemon Law when I went to England for 3 weeks in Sept. I rented an Audi A1 and to my surprise I experienced a very similar problem, but it happened much more often. An example would be entering a roundabout, letting up on the accelerator while looking at directional signs, reapplying accelerator pressure and getting no response. Unlike the Hyundai I didn't seem to lose all power, but couldn't get any acceleration. The Hyundai engine is the 4 cylinder turbo and has an electronic throttle. I don't know what the Audi had by way of mechanics. I'm at a complete loss; is there something I don't understand about electronic throttles? I don't have a clue about the source of this problem, but I know I need to get it resolved before I get rear ended.
I have a front end noise when I go over a speed bump or hit a pot hole. It is kind of a crunching nise like something needs grease.
The Hyundai dealer charged me $54 to diagnose the problem and told me I needed both upper control arms replaced to the tune. They did force some grease in the bushings.
The car only has 63000 miles.
I have a 2007 Sonata Ltd (63000 miles) and had a clunk in the front suspension. I had the front upper control arms replaced (which were visually badly worn) and that fixed the problem. But now, a several months later another similar clunking noise has developed when I go over those small speed bumps in parking lots.
View 18 RepliesI've got a 2006 b6 2.0 with about 92k on it. I bought it Cpo at around 68k 3 years ago this December. My auto tech said I'm going to need a new timing belt in about a month, so once this semester is over in a few weeks I'll be taking it in for that. Anyway, to my questions. My front suspension squeeks quite a bit going over bumps, especially when cold. Is this a sign of bad things to come in the future? Now my brakes, when they get wet they give off a very rough feeling, not very smooth. I have to slam on my brakes to 'wake them up'. Is this telling me they need to be replaced?
View 2 RepliesI have a 2011 Hyundai Sonata GLS with 65k miles...it has a 2.4 liter motor (4 CYL), auto transmission. The car currently has 205-65-R16 tires on it with a 95H speed rating. They all have worn down to the wear bars so it's time for replacement.
On my previous cars, I've always had Uniroyal Tiger Paw touring tires because I love how they ride. I found the same tire size for my Sonata. However it has a different speed rating...95T.
The only difference is the letter "T".
EDIT: It currently has Nexen N5000 tires and I bought the car with these tires already on....crappy tires...worn down in only 30k miles.
My 2006 Prius front passenger seat (leather) squeaks constantly. Sounds like styrofoam rubbing against styrofoam. Been to Toyota dealer three times and they have not been able to solve the problem. Squeak only gets worse. Am I the only one driving a GenII Prius with this problem?

Bought a brand new 2015 Hyundai Sonata limited from Hyundai of Kirkland, Kirkland WA on Aug 30th, 2015 and started noticing wobbling issue.
Checked Wheel balancing/alignment and have visited Hyundai service center 5 times so far and they give me the standard answer, you car drives as expected.
Just had a new timing belt put in with water pump. Drove it home and the temp gauge flew up to red zone. Took it back they said air pocket in system. Bled the system. Drove home and same thing happened. Nothing changed. Temp gauge elevates past normal and into red zone when I idle or drive slow without air conditioning on. The weird thing if the air conditioning is on the gauge stays at normal longer. What is the issue? Is it a bad water pump or thermostat? Or something else.
View 8 RepliesMy front driver's side tire squeaks like an old mattress when I drive, especially over any bumps or when turning. Could this be caused by a cracked wheel rim? I got new tires and had them rotated/balanced about 3 months ago. The squeaking started right before this so I asked the tire place to check it out, but they said they didn't see anything. The squeaking has become increasingly more annoying since then. Note: I also got new struts about 6 mos ago and then drove my car across country. Since then I have driven quite a bit in the city which involves very bad pot holes.
View 1 RepliesI have a 2015 Sonata Limited and I'm trying to figure out the source of a periodic noise that I've never heard before and a car. I can't reproduce it on demand but it tends to occur on low speed turns like turning into or out of a driveway or making a turn at a slow speed residential intersection.
The sound appears to be coming from the left front of the car the best that I can localize it. And is not a squeak or high pitched sound of any kind. It is a lower frequency that I would describe as a very rapid ticking sound.
Getting a creak sounds like near struts at slow speeds and turning , it stopped when it got cold, but on the first warm day today its back . I did replace the struts, bearings and seats, but have to admit I used the cheapos . I just cant find where its creaking from...

Is it okay to replace just the one tire or if it is important to replace both front tires or what's the right thing to do. All the tires are the originals that came with the car. Also, is there any warranty on the original tires?
View 19 RepliesI recently bought an'08 Base model. It is making a creaking noise in the front end on the left side either behind the wheel or under the motor. It only does it when taking off from a stop and/or turning mainly to the right during slow speed, seems to be when the body weight is shifting. To me it sounds as though something needs greased or maybe a strut.
