I have an annoying screeching sound when turning my 2011 Sonata right or left. When I shut off the radio to hear the noise better it goes away...is something causing interference with the radio?
View 10 RepliesMy car - a 2007 4 cylinder Hyundai Sonata - is making loud screeching sound more than occasionally but not all the time at high rates of speed (70 - 75 mph) and ESPECIALLY when I am exiting the highway to go to the train station and I turn to the left on the exit ramp. Never the right - only the left, and it stops immediately when I touch the brakes.
About 6 weeks ago, I had 4 new tires put on, and thought maybe they were not installed properly. I saw a mechanic today who put it up on the lift and said everything looks in good order and he could not find anything wrong with the driver's side front wheel, which is where it sounds like the noise is coming from. Of course, when we drove around in it, there was no noise. In fact, after I dropped him off and went to the train station it DID make the noise, so I turned around, picked him up and drove back exactly the same way - no noise.
It is a very, very loud uninterrupted screeching sound.
While playing the radio or a CD the unit will frequently generate a LOUD "pop" thru the speakers. It will repeat itself at various intervals which leads to my turning the unit off as it's most disturbing. I temporarily removed the negative battery cable but that didn't reset / correct it.
View 1 RepliesI am working on my friends 2008 Sonata with the 3.3 V6. They brought the car to me saying that it was screeching when turning the wheel. So I took a look at it and when you turn the wheel one way it would make a screeching noise and the belt would try to jump off of the tensioner. I assume the tensioner is bad, but now I am wondering if it is a crank pulley problem.
View 8 RepliesThere is a problem in radio of my 2008 Hyundai Sonata. The radio display illuminates but does not display anything. But sometimes it displays ok magically then again problem appears. All the buttons are working and sound is ok.
But, a week ago radio stopped working at all. When i press on/off button, nothing happens. Only once in 2-3 days it works for some hours then again turns off.
2006 Hyundai Sonata Radiator fan is not turning on at temp or with AC. Fan works with 12 volts and a good ground at the connector. The car side of the connector has 14.5 volts on the positive side and 12.5 volts on the negative side with car running and AC on. Why is there 12.5 volts on the negative side and more importantly. how to resolve?

View 8 RepliesI drive a 2003 Hyundai Sonata. I currently have a slight grinding noise (or maybe more of a low growling) when I make left turns. This happened in the not-so-distant past and it was an issue with the power steering hoses (one had rusted through), so we (and by "we," I mean my fantastic father) changed it out. I thought this time it may just be low power steering fluid, but after checking it, I can say it's not low. I'd think if a hose was the culprit again, the fluid would be low. What we should look into?
View 1 RepliesI have the stock radio in my sonata and the radio volume will randomly decrease until its at zero. When I attempt to turn the volume back up it will continue to go back down. It does this regardless of weather the automatic volume control is on or off. From time to time none of the buttons on the dash for the radio will work either. The volume controls on the steering wheel are also messed up. The volume up button mutes the radio, the volume down increases the volume and the mute button changes the mode. I tried pulling the fuse to reset everything and that didn't fix it.

View 5 RepliesIs it time to replace? There is a noise coming from the belt and when I listen with the hood up my best guess is that it's the tensioner. I'm not sure if it is easy to replace or if that is even the problem. The belt looks fine. It allows me to twist it barely less than halfway so to me it does not seem loose. But in the rain last week got the battery light and lost power steering, power brakes, etc, then it went back to normal and hasn't failed again since. The car has 131,000 miles.
Is there a way to check the tensioner? It's pretty tight in there. Or am I wrong as to what the problem is? The sound is a rubbing/slight clicking sound that is in time with the engine and you can hear it if you listen inside the car when the engine is on. The belt also seems to wander around on the tensioner just a little. One day it was about a mm in too much, a few days later, a few mm out, in relation to the pulley.
I have a 2007 Hyundai Sonata. It has about 55K miles. I really like my car and outside of regular maintenance since I bought it I've had no issues, until now. I bought it used 1.5 years ago, and it is a prior salvage (back-end wreck). My Dad is an auto body mechanic though also knows the non-auto body stuff, and he looked it over thoroughly and test drove it with me and said it was in great condition.
I'm going to try to explain this best I can, I'm not a car person though. When I turn left not from a complete stop, so when I'm turning left and there is no stop sign or stop light and I do not need to yield, it sounds like I have a bag of sand or something and all of the weight and sand is shifting from one side to the other. Oh, and I had my mechanic father drive it, he can't hear it because he's very hard of hearing. My Mom heard it though.
The noise sounds like its coming from the front passenger side. I checked the front glove compartment to make sure it wasn't just something shifting around in there.
2011 Hyundai Elantra, 42k miles. The car is my girlfriends which I drive once every few weeks. Yesterday I noticed a rumbling noise coming from the right front tire area. The noise only comes about when turning a fairly sharp left while above 20 mph. Taking a left onto a side street etc doesn't cause any noise, but taking one while going through a big intersection etc. Where the speed is up a little bit causes the noise. The tires are original, obviously not new, but they still have a decent amount of tread left on them, they're Continental Pro Contacts.
Tire, ball-joint, brake pad rubbings? I'm going to take it to get looked at tomorrow, I did spray the area with a hose in case there was something caught in there, but that didn't change anything. The tire looks fine, no abnormal wear or bulges, the car is in alignment and makes no other noise except in the circumstance noted.

View 4 RepliesToday I woke up to go to work and noticed that I don't have any sound coming from my radio. At first, I thought the station might be having some issues so I tried a different station and still no sound. I switched to CD player and guess what...no sound. I tried XM and guess what...no sound. I tried bluetooth and guess what...still no sound. When I got to my destination, I shut off the car, then started the car back up and guess what...still no sound. I messed with the sound settings and it's not in mute, volume controls are functioning fine. I know that the Dimension sound system have some kind of amplifier that is powering the speakers.

View 3 RepliesLately I have noticed an intermittent strong overheating odor coming from the rear passenger tire area of my 1999 Sonata. I was also beginning to notice the car vibrating or riding unevenly. I took it in to Les Schwab to have the brakes checked and was told they were fine with over 50% on all four brakes. I did have the front tires replaced as they were worn and wearing unevenly and was told this is what was more than likely causing the vibrating. That was a couple of weeks ago and I had not noticed any odor coming from the wheel well until yesterday the minute I opened my car door after driving home from work there was the same strong toxic smelling odor coming from the same rear passenger wheel well, but not from anywhere else. I have only noticed this smell after driving home from work and there is a fairly steep hill I go down not too far from my home. Is this a brake issue or something else?
View 5 RepliesMy 2011 Hyundai Sonata Limited dimension radio (no nav or touch screen) is not working the display stopped working with no sound coming from the radio. It was cold one night and i shut the car off ran inside turned it back on and then came back out to start it and no sound then next day it came back on then shut back off. and no turn on 3 months later. I only had the car a year this Feb 2016 & of course they are saying nothing can be done. It'll be one thing if the radio just didn't turn on but my display is completely blank. No light no nothing. What was the result?
View 4 RepliesSo a few months ago my 2009 Camry all stock stereo stopped playing. (Been a while and I pulled the fuse so I don't remember if the head units face lit up)one morning I got in it and as soon as I cranked on the ignition all I hear was static from the speakers even though the radio was off. I looked it up on google back then & remember seeing a topic elsewhere were the person had the same exact issue and said one of the trunk torsion bars came loose & whacked something in trunk compartment that screwed up the stereo. I checked my trunk & sure enough, one of the bars had came loose on one side.
