So I've got some creaking going on at low speeds only over small bumps. Sounds like it's coming from the passenger rear area. It's an 08 with just under 28k miles. I'm not noticing any issue indicating the strut being blown, it's just an annoying creaking. I didn't realize how noticeable it was outside the car until driving through a parking garage with the windows down on Friday.
View 13 RepliesI'm getting ready to do some maintenance such as flushing the brake fluid, new air filter, and changing spark plugs. I've noticed lately a noise from what I'm assuming is my front suspension that can be heard when going over small bumps on roads at low speeds. It sound like a squeaky spring, almost like something needs to be oiled. I'm still on stock suspension with close to 80k on the clock, so I was wondering if there is anything in particular I should look for when I'm messing around the wheels bleeding brakes, or if there is a common procedure to lubricate something so the noise stops. I can hear it from inside the cabin so I imagine you can hear it from outside the car.
View 3 RepliesI have an 04 rx 330 with air suspension. The swaybar end links have just been replaced on the front and a rattling noise persists.
The noise happens over large and small bumps at high and low speeds at normal and low vehicle height. When the height is at "HI" the noise is louder and it feels as though the front end is shaking loose over bumps at 10 km/h+.
I took it in and was advised to replace the end links, they did so and returned it claiming the noise was gone. The air compressor and struts are in working condition.
I have done a search through the forum, not extensive... I was wondering which other components come loose/wear and cause a clunk/rattle/shudder noise.
Also, tires are new and at approx. 32-34 psi.
I just picked up a 2010 f150 xtr 4x4 few weeks ago and I notice the bed shake is pretty bad when hitting small bumps int he road. I watch in my rear view mirror and it seems the drivers side is doing all the shaking, and the passenger side of the box seems solid (minimal movement like a truck should). It only shakes on bumps and does not increase with speed or anything so im assuming its Not my tires? I can literally feel the shaking in my feet in sync as i watch the box rattle in my rear view. Also look at my passenger seat and it looks like a vibrating chair, an extreme one.
I got under the truck everything looks solid, checked all the bed bolts are tight, i honestly have no clue at this point. I use to have a 2000 ranger and honestly I find the box shake on my new 2010 is just as bad as my old truck. My brother and cousin both have 2011 f150's and i find theres to ride alot nicer than mine. My truck is a supercab and theirs are crew cabs, however i don't see it making that big of a difference in ride? Checked tire pressures i have 30lbs in the back tires and 35 in the front. Like it said its only on bumps, doesn't start shaking on a smooth road, so im expecting some sort of bad suspension component?

09 stx 2wd 4.6L- I have a 2.5'' leveling kit and 33'' bfg a/t tires. The problem is when I make sharp turns, or turn and go over small bumps. Whats happening is something seems to catching or rubbing it kind of jerks towards the opposite of where I am turning and causes the traction control to slow my truck (sucks on tight off-ramps/ u-turns). this happens at pretty much any speed although it gets worse as speed increases. At first I thought it was the steering stoppers but don't have any wear on them, tires do not rub anywhere. My dealer and a local off road shop cant figure it out...

Over the last few weeks I've noticed that when the truck has been parked for even a short time, when I start to move out I am getting a thumping noise from the rear, almost sounds and feels as though I am driving over small speed bumps, but once i get going it seems fine. Where to start?
View 5 RepliesOur 2008 Honda Accord has about 89,000 miles on it. For the last few years, it has been making a creaking/groaning sound at low speeds. Generally between 10-20 miles an hour (so you hear in more in rush hour when you are generally annoyed anyway), only when its hot (due to extensive driving or weather - we live in Texas so its awful in the summer) and it does not correlate to using the brakes. We took it to Honda and they said the "bushings" were worn but not broken so they wouldn't fix it. Our own shop has replace both front control arms. The right side they did last week and 3 days later the sound is starting up again. Its almost as if they can lube it to fix it temporarily but I'd much rather a permanent fix. My father in law suggested the struts.

It has ST coilovers already and read a post from the previous owner here and he said the noise started after the install and he was told ot was the upper mounts??? Does this sound correct?? Also i noticed it when parked and just turning the wheel back and forth, popped the hood and had my son turn it and it did sound like it was coming from the upper strut area....

View 20 RepliesMaybe a week or so ago my F's sunroof at high speeds (65-80) has started rattling. Sounds like there is something loose, and it is clanking on another part. I will be taking it to a dealership or auto shop to have it repaired, or fixing it myself if it is something minor. And its not just a one off rattle, it is constant when at those speeds. Had a two hour drive yesterday and it was driving me crazy.
View 12 RepliesI have 1, possible 2 motor mounts in my 2001 Volvo S-60 that kind of crunch/squeak when I go over small bumbs. Actually, the lower passenger side mount does the majority of the crunching noise. The upper mount (visible when you lift the hood) does it more so when its cold and the rubber contracts.
I'm not 100% sure the lower motor mount is what's making that crunching noise - but I'm pretty sure that's what it is as the suspension is in decent shape.
My question is, is it possible to change the lower motor mount myself? I've heard that the engine needs to be supported when doing this, but is that so when you need to only change one? Also, does it actually need to be changed or would any kind of lubricant will work?
I recently spun my coils all the way down on the front, removed rear supporter springs, and rear perches. Now I have a light clunk every now and then over small bumps. Looked under the car and nothing is obviously loose or missing. But when I grab the rear driver axle I can wiggle it some. Not real loose but enough to hear the clunk. Like a loose tooth. Sounds like its coming from inside the inner cv.
I plan on jacking the car up after work and taking a closer look to see if its something simple. My question is if I don't see anything what's a possible problem? I've heard people having front axle issues when going real low but its only my rear driver side. Could it just be a bad angle? It's weird ONLY being the driver side.
I have noticed new drivers seat squeak. It only happens with weight transfer side to side at lower speeds ( hard right and hard left below 30 mph, or entering a driveway). I have looked at several posts and it seems like people have had luck with simply tightening the bolts for the seat.
Well I did that and it still making the noise. I have isolated the noise to the lower part of the seat right behind the molding. Behind the molding and behind the seat control switches there is a white box for the switches. It seems like the noise is coming from there. I noticed that if I pop off the control switches and I loosen the screws for the control switches the noise gets a touch better.
I took it to the dealership and they told me they tried to add some oil between the leather and the molding but it did nothing since the source seems to be behind the molding.
2013 4dr Stage 1 w/ dog bone tranny insert, VWR springs, 29K mi. LONG time Corrado VR6 owner - new to OBD II / turbo cars.
Car just doesn't feel as "solid" as it should. I expected it to feel really buttoned down with a quiet cabin.
I hear annoying creaking type noises when going over bumps / rougher roads (even did this with stock springs) Sounds like coming from rear interior, like window seal areas.
Not sure if this is due to body flex or something else. Anything to address this? Would any kind of stabilizer bars (front strut / rear hatch / under body chassis) work? or make it worse?
Have creaking windows when driving around, especially when pulling to drive ways or going over speed bumps? Curious if there is a fix for this or if maybe my car needs to be looked at? The windows function properly and I don't have any issues with them except they just make a lot of creaking noises while driving.
View 11 RepliesThe front end of my 2013 Elantra GLS "Creaks" when I go over large bumps especially when the tires/springs extend - like when you go over a smooth rut in the road or if I make a sharp turn and the weight of the car shits to one side. Of course it doesn't happen all the time so that's the perfect excuse for the dealer to look the other way. I haven't taken it there yet because I know if I don't point them in the right direction it'll take 4 times as long to remedy the problem.
Anyway, temperature doesn't seem to affect as much but in the mornings when it's colder it's slightly more noticeable. I've tried to record the sound but that's easier said then done. I've push down on the front end to see if I could reproduce the sound but it doesn't happen when the shocks are compressed but rather when the spring extends. The creaking sounds like when you walk on a old wooden floor or opening an old door kinda thing. What it could be?
When turning and going over a bump, regardless of speed or severity of the bump the door seals creaking? It's like the body twists or something.
View 10 RepliesI have noticed the last 3 times I hit the brakes really hard above 100 mph ( even 120 mph) I hear a whirling noise coming from either the front brakes or tires. Kind of sounds like when you have really old summer tires on the car and you make a stop on the street . I have heard this on the track the last 2 track days I had. I know my front tires (Michelin PSS) are about 40% worn but are still in pretty good shape.
My rotors are the same that carried me through 6 track days in 10 months and was recently told by the dealership that my front pads need to be replaced sooner than later ( they were installed 10 months ago before all the track work ) and I am assuming the rotors are beat up pretty goo . I will be getting new tires in the next few months and will most likely be replacing pads and rotors at the next scheduled service. The car has 34k on it. Is this normal with Brembos or aggressive brakes?
